I wax nostalgic for a gentler, simpler time...How grateful I am for the privilege of having lived in what I knew as a warmer, kinder, friendlier time. You’re correct in what you say about promotion and commerce. But that is not all the world is made of. Narcissism is on the rise..My experience is that cornerstones of interpersonal relationships are negatively affected by electronic socialization. It’s as clear as it can be.

’m not sure exactly where you’re headed—but I’ll venture a bit: I’m bugged by the recent banning of certain movies and such, particularly “Gone With The Wind” in the cause of political correctness. Why should we not also ban shows like “Leave It To Beaver” (dad at work or golfing, doting wife and mother at home cleaning and ironing, —upsets liberated women ), or documentaries portraying crimes and murders (might upset someone who is grieving) “Long Island Medium” (upsets religious community not believing in paranormal) “Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, et al..” (upsets agnostics and scientific communities not believing in spiritual Christianity. Hey, I have a novel idea for anyone who dislikes those shows: CHANGE THE CHANNEL OR TURN THE MOTHER#$*&+% OFF!! Censorship is a giant step toward tyranny. Don’t be stupid...

I realize there are as many ways to see this as there are couples. Given that, I’ll offer a few “sayings”.

“Every couple has the same five arguments, which is really only one argument”.

“Do not find yourselves unevenly yoked”.

“A difference of opinion and a difference in politics are not the same thing”.

My advice is to find someone who does share your politics. And, find out real soon. Avoid anyone who says (s)he doesn’t care about politics. Not usually a good sign. We are here to be acutely aware, and like it or not, politics are important. They are heavily peppered in everything we do...college, career, the whole Maryann.

if you just don’t “get” the spirit of my post, then you just don’t...I’m satisfied that my meaning was clear, and it DOES appear that others do, as well. What would be a “proper” question of myself? Hey, I recognize that I’ve not always been diplomatic, too. I’ll work on improving my communication, as well. I’ll work on being sensitive to others feelings. I’ll think first before shooting from the hip. I have brambles to clear off my own path, too. I own it. I WILL strive to be considerate.

Hi all my contacts here. Complete honesty. I fully get how individuals feel so strongly socially and politically. Lately I’ve been feeling a little vulnerable, and, yes, I realize that those inner ids are up to us, personally, I still will dare to address this: recently because of several very aggressive-sounding posts, I have felt intimidated to respond perfectly honestly due to the ultra-politically motivated rhetoric on some threads. I should never have to be afraid of how I feel on C.S. The club as it were, insinuates that hurtful conduct will, at length, not be tolerated. I’ve been around a few minutes and understand the human condition. My 2020 wish would be that we strive to be accepting and peaceful

”dingy” here means a little goofy/off one’s rocker, etc... A “dinghy” (pronounced the same) is a small row boat, often used for stream fishing, close to shore fishing, etc...get it?

hey, got a good one for ya...true story, too. I was reared by my grandparents. She was a Southern Belle type, and he was a fire chief/lumberjack/carpenter...so picture the “mix”. Well, he was a subtle jokester (we’re Scot) and one day they were sitting in the den, just chillin’, and he said, out of the blue, “the neighbors were talking, and they said you were going fishing here pretty soon”.
“Fishing!” She exclaimed. “Now why in God’s green earth would you think I’M going fishing?!”

things are changing faster now. It used to be a slam dunk that grand juries would acquit police officers in these cases. Not happening (every) time anymore. What I still don’t get is, given the recent firing and hailing’s of police officers, in other cases, do officers like the one who caused Floyd’s death just not THINK? Seriously, throwing your life away, not to mention killing someone. Now, the best you can hope for is decades in prison, ruined career, family, just for that moment to flex your cop muscle? Honestly. He couldn’t have been using any judgment at all. Threw it all away. God almighty...

and I’ve always wondered why they are sometimes called “scampi”, too. Crayfish, crawdads, crawfish, etc...maybe it’s regional/vernacular? In some areas types of turtles are actually called Cooter. Good heavens!

not as easy a question as one might think. Is it “If you bend too much you can’t stand straight”, OR “If you don’t bend, you’ll break”? Is it “Absence makes the heart grow fonder”, OR “Out of sight, out of mind”? The world is not black and white. There’s a great deal of ‘gray’ area. I do get the value of the question you pose. However, no (man) is an island, and if everyone demanded to do their own thing, and that only, it would be chaos, and we already have quite enough of that.

dont know if you’re just yanking my chain, so I’ll take it on seriously (). Being popular or thinking one is popular is a fleeting, erratic false sense of security. So middle-school. These sorts of ideas are fodder for prose—I.e. read the poem “IF” by Rudyard Kipling. It sums it up. Be a MAN, my son!
