When I look at things going on in society and how much politics effects so many people...I think about how it is effecting the dating world....the left vs the right...has been going on a very long time and clearly the LEFT are unhinged and violent...so with this in mind....

Would you ask someone their political beliefs...before you date them?
How important is it to you...that the person you are dating....is of the same political beliefs as yourself?

I will have more questions later...but chew on these two for nowconversing

Of course I would ask the person his political preferences/beliefs... And it is extremely important for me... Here, marriages and complete families have been destroyed because of politics, so it's better to know where I am standing before making any major decisions that affect my future... bouquet

I would agree and think political beliefs are very important...when it comes to dating....

I just can't see myself anywhere near...a woman on the left...who would think of me as a patriarchal oppressor and white supremacist...but would also live life as a victim 24/7 and go on about identity politics..from the moment she woke up...to the moment she went to bed in her padded cell...with a straight jacket on...Some may call me picky...but I say let those weak men...take on those kind women and try to live their lives with any kind of enjoyment

If a woman is not by my side...when it comes to my beliefs and passions...then let her walk on by and keep on walking...cause a crazy women....is not for me

I realize there are as many ways to see this as there are couples. Given that, I’ll offer a few “sayings”.

“Every couple has the same five arguments, which is really only one argument”.

“Do not find yourselves unevenly yoked”.

“A difference of opinion and a difference in politics are not the same thing”.

My advice is to find someone who does share your politics. And, find out real soon. Avoid anyone who says (s)he doesn’t care about politics. Not usually a good sign. We are here to be acutely aware, and like it or not, politics are important. They are heavily peppered in everything we do...college, career, the whole Maryann.

Couldn't agree with you more. A couple can co-exist with a respectful difference of opinion on many issues but when it comes to religion and politics - not easy. And can make or break a relationship.

This... Obviously. I don't like giving or taking tests any more. It's a date not an interrogation. I prefer having conversations, banter, flirting, and word play. Eventually, biographical details and political and religious beliefs will be touched upon in the flow of the conversation.

Nothing to chew on, it's simple: your beliefs define you. So there's no point in dating someone if there are no shared values, political views are among the most important.

Yip, I agree. Initial dating should be fun but it is also a time to put out "feelers" as to how your date perceives & feels about things that are really important to him / her. Could save a lot of arguments later.

Sometime people rush into relationships too quickly and don't spend enough time...getting to know someone....it really does take a long time to know if someone is right for you and women who have kids...too early on in a relationship...may very well end up breaking up the family unit and becoming single mothers
