Oh sure! Institutions have used color therapies for hundreds of years. “Cat houses” ( the polite term) decorated in brilliant reds and gold/ brass because, well, sensuous, arousing colors. Interesting thread..
There’s an old saying— “ I worked really really hard to get out of the cabin -in -the -woods, and into the city. Now, I’ll have to work even harder to get back to the cabin”.
just getting the day started ( it’s 7:15). Up very early to take a friend to imaging ( medical), then to Farmers Market to play folk music ( I’ll do “ Danny Boy” for you)
I think of so many from my teen years— really liked the music to “ Hawaii 5-0”, “ Surfer Joe” “Brand New Key”, “ Me And Bobby McGee”, and dig THIS:: SUGAR SUGAR. !
now that is a good point. You do know that Christianity, Catholic or Protestant, is based on there being a middle man...not being facetious, but it’s right there in black and white.
This is what I believe: The Paranormal/Supernatural/ESP world is not “ tapped” enough, so to many fundamentalists it’s easy to put it on the back burner as a pseudo- science. There seems to be ample proof that these senses can be validated. Police departments have been known to use mediums, astrologers, etc...to try and solve cases, so the mainstream professional world appears to find validity in it. Me? I’m flexible in my thinking—at least staying open- minded regarding it. Just wondering— a for real question, do some of you ( cs members) believe in the spirit world? Ghosts, for example, and/ or communication with spirits?
now that is just outrageous..once I was “ called on the carpet” by a swimming pool manager because my trunks were, well, I guess a little clingy. But the two stud lifeguards on duty were both wearing teeny skimpy skivvies—showing more junk than the city dump... when I pointed it out to this moron, he just said I was trying to be argumentative and make trouble...why are some things ok for some, and not others? Go ahead, mike, ditch the dungarees...it’s perfectly fine. Hey, I bet you’re....
hey Stan..don’t use Walmart very much, but thanx for the heads- up. Won’t stay on here long, computer is wacko turning off for no reason, so, good night..
The beach was nice..google “Sunset Bay Beach, Coos Bay, OR.” You will see why I love it here so much. Tide was “ in”, so no pools, and it stayed, quite high this time. Got a gourmet coffee on the way home.
“I have no respect for justice. I maim without killing.I break hearts and ruin lives. I am cunning and malicious, and gather strength with age. The more I am quoted, the more I am believed. I flourish at every level of society. My victims are helpless. They cannot protect themselves against me for I have no name and no face. To track me down is impossible. The harder you try, the more elusive I become. I am nobody’s friend. Once I tarnish a reputation, it is never the same. I topple governments and ruin marriages. I ruin careers and cause sleepless nights, heartache and indigestion. I give birth to suspicion and generate grief. I make innocent people sob and cry in their pillows. Even my very name contains an ugly, evil hiss. I am called GOSSIP.
I don’t get that one, either. What’s the use of seeing a thread you can’t comment on? So, I do get the thread has become too long and/ or problematic, so, just delete it. It’s like going into an antique store and finding the exact item you want, and the clerk says, “ oh, that’s not for sale”. Then don’t have it out on the bloody floor....SO annoying..
just checked this on my way out to the beach...so glad I did. You’re awesome...it’ll make the day ( and it’s sunny) much, much better. Tons of blessings to you, you do much to take the blues away... I’ll be gone for hours...no cell, computer, just the sea and the sand..( love looking in the tide pools...)
thanks so much for the laughter...I’m not having a very good day talking with others, and it’s my fault... now I’m fighting off the old blues. And I live at the beach..go figure..*.better go down there and unload some emotional garbage...
* for what it’s worth, I wasn’t all that crazy about the internet in the first place..it was an “ acquired” taste
” talking” in script can be problematic because you can’t read facial expressions, body language, or hear tones and inflections, etc...I don’t think people should go to hell, but I do think the word “ nitpick” is a bit negative.( to be, or to use) I’m OK with people questioning what I’ve said, such as, ie: “rohaan, what do you mean, ‘ charm’”, and then I could say , “ well, there is affected charm, and natural charm”.. and so on. Still, I feel that I, also, don’t know what to say or if it’s going to upset someone. Shall I not participate, then? We’re all kind of in the same boat, so I will just wish all peace and friendship. What can I say?
I have always believed that we are very arrogant to be condescending about animals. Every living thing has a right to be here, and I believe there is more equitability than many people think. My new family member, a kitten, has an equal place in my life as anyone else. I hope this doesn’t sound dorky, or that someone out there will challenge it. Perhaps there WAS a time when I thought differently, but I can, with a very clear conscience, say that my cat is just as important as any other family member..
Hmmm...not exactly. Being uneducated or unknowing about one topic does not make us innocent of another. However, I dimly see a point here—Adam and Eve did not know there was evil in the garden, so the seduction by the serpent broad-sided ( her). Was she “ innocent” because she did not foresee the evil? Just what ARE our responsibilities in life? A friend of mine was walking to work one early morning and saw that a parking meter had been wrecked and robbed. She called the police, and they treated her like she was the one who did it. In all social service fields ( teaching/ nursing/ counseling) there is “ mandatory reporting”. But, what happens when you turn in someone the administration doesn’t want turned in? Like, one of THEM, or one of their “ pets”? Let me tell you...they’ll get the whole facility to swear on a stack of Bibles and lie, lie, lie to get YOU in hot water. Not everything is “ cool”. So, we have very good employees who turn the other way because doing the right thing is both career and personal suicide. It’s a big, fat, @&#”)+% mess.
I did mean having a natural charm, rather than an “ affected” one— sometimes the impact of an adage or saying is lost if it can otherwise be interpreted...JMO...
( I’m getting a little reluctant to participate in these kinds of threads because it seems to me that what I’m trying to say or quote is not held in the light intended, and it becomes awkward to try and explain, as here, and the “ flow” is misdirected...and I admit that at least at this moment, I’m burning out trying to have easy- going and even whimsical conversations. I had to “ walk on eggshells” for over 30 years in the medical field and I’m kinda done with that noise...please try to understand. I am feeling that I can’t say ANYTHING without it being superfluously critiqued.
I believe we are responsible for what we do know, and unless someone is mentally incapacitated, we know right from wrong. Furthermore, I firmly believe one cornerstone responsibility is to be kind. If that ideal is not actively substantiated it’s difficult to focus on the rest.
“Charm is an interesting attribute. If you have it, you need little else. If you lack it, nothing else you do have matters.” ( I don’t have the author...there may be several versions by a few..)
I want to find the best recipe for “Toad-In-The-Hole”. A long time ago I had a good cookbook with that dish— I think it was a large buttermilk biscuit or roll with some of the middle scooped out, fill w/ cheese, bacon, egg.
1.5 cups small sliced yellow tomatoes. 1 full cup sliced celery. 1 full cup finely chopped onion. 1 full cup sliced black olives. 2 full cups shredded Swiss cheese. 7 medium eggs plus one egg yolk. Mix all veggies. Pepper and toss, add a full heaping tablespoon of dill, toss. Set aside. Break eggs one at a time in deep-sided bowl. Pierce each yolk before adding next egg. (Makes it LOTS easier..) mix thoroughly, add last yolk. Add about 3/4 cup rich milk or half n half. Mix well. Butter glass baking dish ( larger one, like 9x9) well, add about 2/3 of cheese. Bake this for about 7 minutes on 375. Take out and cool. Spread the veggies evenly, add rest of Swiss evenly. SLOWly pour egg batter evenly over all. Reduce oven to 350. Bake 20 minutes, check on it. If not fully “ set”, bake another 7 or 8 minutes. “ Rest” for 20 minutes, it should cut into firm squares. Just made one—turned out perfect. Should make 5 or 6 servings...
