Look, I need some help here, I mean it. This little old lady is the epitome of superfluous worrying. She has melt- downs at traffic lights...geeze Louise...pray for me, will you? But I love her....mercy...nice to see you today. Hey, I got one for you, and it’s appropriate...
Freddies is our (Oregonians) nickname for “Fred Meyer”, a super- store with everything. Other regions have “Kroger”, which is more or less the same, and same conglomerate. I think they also have “Red Salmon”, and “Arctic Salmon”. You can buy your pharmacy supplies, housewares, clothes, jockstraps, groceries, some furniture, speedos, jockstraps, um, electronics, art supplies, jockstraps......
hey there...is it cold in your neck of the woods? I used to have friends living in Back-Bay (?) haven’t ever been to MASS. So am not “ in the know”. The row houses look nice, from the pics.
Howdy. One of the things that’s bugging me lately is the lack of interesting thread topics on here. I mean, I think, “all these different countries, cultures, current events, etc... and we can’t seem to come up with very much. How about let’s talk about our lives, interests, etc...we could start a very cool talk...today I’m driving to Freddie’s to get a can of pink salmon for my friend. She’s sort of like a grandma/ auntie to me...calls just to call. I asked if she needed anything else besides the can of salmon, “ no”, and just one can at that...a little eccentric. Then I plan to go to the beach/bay...take a stroll, work the boardwalk... get some fish n chips, I like mine with salt and vinegar...hey guys, I’m trying to get a thread going!
“I love all beauteous things, I seek and adore them; God hath no better praise— And man in his hasty days Is honored for them”. R. Bridges, P.L. Eire, c 1929 (?)
I have to agree with Rocky— you seem to say notable things just at the right time. I’ve erased quite a lot of negative comments and e-mails, and (honestly) have no memory if we ever squabbled, etc...but if we have, I apologize for imperfections on my part. I wanted to say this because lately I seem to be getting blasted by a few ( ironically, most members who take time for me are positive...) anyway, just wanted you to know that I’ve noticed your ability to make others feel better, or at least less pain. Kudos...
Read my post. #10. I mean really READ it. Use your brain cells. It is a very profound question. It is not meant to be, in any way, discourteous to God. Sometimes I believe folks are so caught up in their belief systems they become unable to see other views. I am quite willing to look at other views, change an opinion or belief, if there is adequate reasoning to do so. But one cannot do this and be stubborn. I fully agree with the adage, “The mind is like a parachute. Only functional when open”.
There’s another way to see this—-I went to college and studied hard for my degree/certifications. But I did not always “agree” with state and federal guidelines/policies/laws..yet was obligated to follow them. In America, many of us would find it inconsistent with “playing fair” to have elections, which is how we do things here, and then not support the winning parties. We couldn’t have what we chartered if citizens threw a tantrum because an election didn’t “go their way”. And, look at what happens, current events now, anyway, in a wonderful country. But it would be much worse if citizens didn’t at least try to be level-headed.
I so get that...my next-door-neighbor has a huge blower, and after he gets the sidewalks and streets all clean, the following night is a nasty windstorm. (It’s very rural where I live, and there are parts of TREES, ffs, scattered around.
I’d wanted to go out on the beach today, but it’s raining steady..(I don’t mind when it is misty, however) so will chill with the kitten/almost cat and watch retro t.v. Made a huge breakfast burrito, so won’t need to e at again for quite awhile. May venture out on a walk, but not far or very long..there’s certainly plenty to do around the house, so may put a fire under my butt and get busy...pus still closed, non-essential stores, etc...how’s all your days going?
Good morning, Rocky. Your note is appreciated. The power of prayer is ever relevant. I believe it is important to pray in the good, happy times — as the saying goes, “The time to fix the leaky roof is while the sun is shining”. When we put Him first, then He will never be last. And for anyone out there: God always loves to hear from us. Always. Live your life gloriously, enthusiastically, with tender loving care for every living person you cross paths with, making optimism and acceptance for others a primary focus. It helps me, Rocky, and I’ve had tremendous sorrow and loss in my life. Fight against anything preventing a brilliant, warm, lovely life. You owe it to yourself, and have an obligation, to live well. Peace,
With great respect to all spiritual experiences—For the life of me I can’t understand how anyone could NOT believe.
This is my Father’s world—the birds their carols share In the woods and trees, by the comforting seas, He speaks to me everywhere.
Just look at a dust mite under the microscope. Smaller than the toe on a butterfly, they are monstrously made, with a beating heart, a circulatory system, a pulmonary system, a digestive system, eyes, a brain and nervous system, claws, pincers, a drilling probeces, etc...and that is just one of God’s handiwork’s,, among hundreds of millions...yes, I believe.
To this I agree—your brevity was worth far more than anything else. I did offer sincere, heartfelt empathy for rocky. I apologize if it got somehow overlooked; so, again, I’m very, very sorry for your loss, Rocky. I understand.
No matter how carefully and courteously members try to say what’s on their minds’, you go out of your way to find fault. My life is dictated by an often fatal auto-immune illness. It requires constant medical attention and great preservation at home. Even so, I ask God to bless each day and help me fill it wisely and optimistically. Although there are many challenges and extra-curricular obligations, I embrace each day with gratitude. I hold nothing whatsoever against you, no judgment. What I do not have time for is negativity. I understand that any member can comment ad lib. However, I do have a favor, since you have recently acted with such hatred and negativity. Could you get off my back? Can you find it in your heart to just traipse on over to another forum, and let off steam there? Would you consider just leaving me alone? Give me a break?
You do not understand my post. I miss nothing about the comfort of religion and prayer. I’m all for it. I answered his question about why it seems absent in media, including CS. You missed the point of the question/answer. I’m deeply spiritual, btw. I just want people to realize that the genre is vast, and there is no “one-size-fits-all”. Do you get it now? (I was avoiding this, because when I’ve said it before I’ve been accused of being petulant. However, I do feel that people react to what they “think” I said, rather than seeing it in the light it was intended)
Please accept my concern for you. Allow me to address your very important question regarding ‘asking for prayer’”. It is not “a first”. It isn’t seen often, and here is my belief about that: Religion/Spirituality has been exponentially controversial since the “Beat” movement. (Hippies, Beatniks, Anti-Establishment enthusiasts, N.O.W., etc...), and, to a substantial degree, rather righteous. Many people, in my observation and belief, are simply exhausted hearing about it and/or discussing it. It is riddled with hypocritical rhetoric, conflicting interpretations, and very troubling judgmental assertiveness and obvious hatred trying to camouflage as “love”. So, it is, in my observation and belief, that it is small wonder that many people keep their distance. Everyone who is genuinely spiritual thinks he is “right”. And he may very well be. End of mystery—it’s different for each individual. It’s SUPPOSED to be..
RE: Hope on the rocks.
Well all righty then...you do the same!I do think, however, that everyone hears you loud and clear, be certain of that. Blessings..
