RE: Meditation

thumbs up thumbs up It’s a living, breathing, three-dimensional oxymoron to want or expect immediate results from meditation. My advice to anyone venturing thereto - join a yoga or zen group. If unsure how, where, etc…talk with a karate instructor; he will undoubtably know someone, as meditation is a part of martial arts…jmo

RE: I like riding on my bike

Im really connecting with your comment: I have a retro “step-thru” ( NOT a ladies bike- there’s a big difference..) Schwin 18 speed, one of the finest of the moderate range bicycles ever made. One of my favorite routes is from my duplex to the marina/ quay, and then all along a very beautiful ‘ access road’ with the bay tide to my left (traveling southeast) and on my right for the return. Besides the lovely, colorful boardwalk, there are quaint shops, and further, but viewable, Craftsman and Victorian cottages. It is clear and sunny much of the time……it’s such a feeling of living well in a wonderful beach community when I make these bicycle trips. And, it’s enough, too, I have no desire to be anywhere else. Yes, we have a way cool, rad bike shop, and if you’re strapped the owner will let you pay when you can or find some chores for you to do for him to work it off. My home town is the absolute best. I bet the loop you mentioned has some sterling qualities too…thumbs up

RE: Could Gabby Petito's Muder Been Prevented?

Thanks, Karl. Side comment: I mentioned you the other day in another area and one person said some things that sounded rather negative— now, I realize saying this might cause some to think I’m a pot-stirrer; I get it, but it’s very difficult for me to think of you as having folks who don’t like you. I think you’re top-shelf. Then again, some folks seem to not like me, for no reason, in my mind. Guess some people just want to gripe…

For you, hug for what it’s worth…

RE: Could Gabby Petito's Muder Been Prevented?

Most recent breaking news (here in Oregon) was “FBI confirms Brian Laundrie remains identified with dental records”. Where’s Karlorado when you need him? He lives in Florida; may have some news. You’re right— stories do seem to change.

RE: Anyone know where are the illegal aliens from the open southern boarder being taken to in the USA.

I stand by everything I said and I’ll continue to do what I want to do so trying to micro-manage me and insinuate anything is a waste of time. I’ve been here a long, long time. If and when the moderators wish to talk with me, they can do so. Who do you think you are to demand that members answer you only how YOU want? My posts are germane to topic bases. Just because you are academically unable to “ get it” doesn’t mean everyone is. More people get my tie- ins than not. I suspect you have a personality trait of needing to control. Get rid of it. No one is going to dance to your tune, anyway, so put your penny-whistle away and stop the passive-aggressive attempts to control. Look at the other responses you get—- other members are, and have been, telling you the same things. Uh, DUH…..

You need to talk this over with a professional therapist and sort it. The way you’re going about it isn’t sticking to the wall. That dog don’t hunt….now, quit aggravating people.

RE: Anyone know where are the illegal aliens from the open southern boarder being taken to in the USA.

No I don’t know where they are being taken to.
I heard you. You were courteous. However, I will always say what’s on my mind, with or without any other CS members’ approval. I’m not going to belong to a social media club where I can’t say what I want to . Don’t tell me what to do. Thanks.handshake

RE: Anyone know where are the illegal aliens from the open southern boarder being taken to in the USA.

My educated guess is that they are being housed clandestinely to avoid mob hysteria toward both them and the officials. I don’t believe they’re being mistreated; I believe this is an all-around protective measure. Not to get too political, either, but in case anyone hasn’t noticed, the country is in an uproar over HUGE events and problems that hit us all at once. People are acting out like never before. People with good backgrounds and educations. It’s gone haywire. The illegal aliens could, if not already, become targets of injury and killing. I understand everyone’s views on immigration, please believe me…but the rioting and hurting/worse of them isn’t the answer. Many are innocent ( children). That’s why I think they are being quietly housed, temporarily, and it makes sense to me. Please, anyone out there, if you bash me or argue with me regarding this post, I won’t reply. Kind, academic, thoughtful posts will be read and respected. handshake

RE: Are boycotts a legitimate form of protest?

Thanks for writing. I always gain either additional information or other ways to see an issue when you write. You are an exceptionally healthy, academic friend.hug

RE: Do you think...hauntings are real?

I have always kept an open mind regarding this. I reject a belief that this is either nonsense or “evil”. I don’t seek it, however, and am on the fence as to whether I’ve experienced it. One can get pretty loaded and think they’re seeing poltergeists. Funny place, this universe.

RE: Gratitude ;) :)

Back in the day—- I was going out with a registered nurse. She would do all the driving, we’d go to the northern Oregon coast, get a motel (she’d pay for) and, we’ll, she had an infinite and powerful libido. Reminds me of a line from “Maggie Mae”—-“and mother what a lover you wore me out”— then, she would very sweetly thank me. Every time.

RE: Gratitude ;) :)

Really feeling it this morning…I’d spent way too much money, to the point of being worried, having several weeks to go before another deposit. Out of the blue, I was asked over to a friend’s last night, and was given an early Holiday ‘gift’…which I have put away until absolutely needed. It gave me a lighter heat. Now, I know money’s not really the most important thing…but it sure comes in handy!

RE: Do you remember when you were 1 years of age........?

My first memory was when I was 2 years and 2 months’ old. It is so distinct…it has been clear ever since. Some researchers believe that a very early memory is “branded in” due to a startling (“Atten-SHUN!!) event. It was Halloween, or close, and a neighbor had brought over a huge bowl of hard candy. She tripped and the bowl and Candy came crashing very noisily down, scattering, etc…(startling event). In the other room a baby (my little sister, born that mid-Summer) was loudly crying..( event- on- event). When I was in the fifth grade, my teacher was discussing, and asking us about our earliest memories. That evening, I asked my mother if she remembered a Halloween when a neighbor tripped and spilled a huge bowl of candy. “Why, yes”, she answered. “That was Francis Johnson. But, you were only two…”

RE: Are boycotts a legitimate form of protest?

This topic really caught my attention. I clearly remember both high- school and college economic courses teaching that boycotts were illegal. Yet my recent (this morning) internet research came up in multiple formats, “Boycotts are a legal form of protest”. I don’t get it. Which is it?dunno

RE: Why Buddha and not God?

I noticed a “thumbs up”, and a “thumbs down”. Just wondering why the thumb down…my post was simply commentary. Will someone please explain why a thumbs down is given, in any thread, actually, when the post is simply commentary? Thumbs down should be used if there’s something vituperative… not just to play with like a toy. Know what I mean?

RE: Why Buddha and not God?

Hello my good Buddy…it’s very clear why even the most faithful and spiritual people struggle. The batter is rather simple; the baking, not so much. Prime example in a germane cluster of questions by Epicurus:

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then He is not omnipotent. Is He able, but not willing? Then He is malevolent. Is He both able and willing? Then whence come the evil? Is He neither able or willing? Then why call Him God?

We are made to question, to ponder. It is OK to do what we are made to do. I cannot stand religious people who answer Epicurus’ questions with a “Well, we’ll just have to wait and trust”, and so forth. That is NOT an answer. Now, I am a believer…however, I believe that Epicurus posed a very fair set of questions, matrix though the set be.
