Hello there, chara ...I have been reading this thread with moderate to high interest. The final analysis is that it isn't gender-leaning. It really is about calm, clear, thoughtful COMMUNICATION. For example, let's just play with the OP's heading, and just for the moment assume, for the sake of argument, the woman's reaction:
A man arrives home from work. It's been a whirlwind day, he's worn out and uptight. But he's happy to be at his cottage, with his loving wife. He cheerfully calls out, "Honey, I'm home. How was the day for my best girl?" She shouts from the kitchen, "Bloody hell. Can't you SEE how stressed I am?? What are you SO damned happy about, ANYWAY? And stop getting the furniture and floors dirty with those boots!" (and so on...) Now, he was completely loving and polite. And no, he can't "see" her, nor does he have any idea how bad her day was. And now he's down, because he came home with a glad heart to see her, and all he got was insulted. It's these kinds of scenarios that cause problems. JMO
Technically, you're correct. "Ego" isn't necessarily a 'negative'. I believe that the word has been used as a 'negative' so much that it has BECOME a negative (via osmosis! ). A better way to put the thought together would be "s/he has abused his ego"....There are many things/words that many people automatically "see" as negative, such as 'anger', 'bitter', 'petulant', and so on....ergo, 'anger' is a very natural, and often helpful emotion or feedback, but only really negative if misused. I hope I'm explaining this in a sage form....
My best friend died when we were in our mid to late 20's (27 & 28). I've been through many other terrible events, but this one is still the very worst.
I would have thought so, too, but according to google there are about 70 left in the United States--one in Newport, OR, and one in Woodburn, OR, but there used to be hundreds of them. You're correct, their food was/is very good.
Actually, I haven't spoken to her yet, but word's out that she did VERY WELL. Which she should have.....(they own rentals, which are like SOLID GOLD in Oregon ) I'm extremely pleased for her. Way.
In my case, (and I was in love with a lady years ago) what it did was close the door forever. Not interested in getting burned again. No one is worth giving up my peace of mind for. Absolutely NO ONE.
A relative of mine just finalized her divorce. He's a filthy, rotten, passive-aggressive narcissistic egotistical misogynist. He also has some bad points......
"Scarlett, I don't believe that a vase broken in a thousand pieces can be put back together as if new; as if nothing ever happened. Not really. No, not at all."-----Rhett Butler, in 'Gone With The Wind'
I've had "Poutaine" lately, a few times. French fries, gravy, and cheese curds. Also, I like "fry sauce", but have never found one as good as Arctic Circle restaurants made. I like them with blue cheese dressing, tartar sauce, also, a local pub here serves them with cheese, chili, or both, and I've actually had fries with steak sticks--
I understand this...I did find that working overtime actually cost me a lot of money--additional taxes, pro-rated at that, more gas, wear and tear on car, more laundry, etc....kind of a sad state when doing the right thing to get ahead only seems to put you farther behind--can't win for winning, ffs!
I'm guessing NZ has a long, good growing season, and still not as populated as other regions. I wait until Farmers Market is closing (for the day) and often the vendors are more than willing to lower price and sometimes even give me a few items--(I'm a regular...)
I've been very fortunate. First, I live in a very great agricultural state, many Farmers Markets and neighbors always bringing over fresh fruit and vegetables...I hoard salmon filets in the freezer, along with steaks and roasts and chicken breasts I get on sale. I keep a good kitchen stocked with all kinds of herbs and spices, fresh lemons on hand all the time. My pantry is chocked full of canned goods for several years, I buy good good on sale that stores well for a long time. In this part of Oregon, eggs and milk are very inexpensive. Cheese, mayonnaise, bread is climbing, though. So far so good.....just my two cents: it isn't really that hard to eat on the cheap. Be creative, don't be wasteful....dial it down. Most people eat too much anyway. Drink a full glass of water before each meal, about 15 minutes. You'll find you're not really as hungry as you thought. Divide a steak, make two meals. Only make one fresh salad to eat each time. (a big salad goes bad in one or two days....it's better to keep the vegetables whole until point of consumption. trust me....
There are a couple of things I just can't do--ice skating is one. I tried water-skiing, it was fun, but I wasn't able to do it enough to become good at it.
Former First Lady Jacqueline Onassis LOVED speedboats, and could often be seen on lakes and bays in Massachusetts piloting OR water- skiing behind one...Because I'm a water baby I've been on a few. Kinda fun....little scary....must like the wind and water splashing and spraying!!
RE: Do you care if people like you or not on CS....?
Have we met? Geeze…
