As a keen observer of animal behaviour, I’ve noticed many similarities between human behaviour and animals . Animals can be territorial, protective of their offspring, but where mating is concerned, I’ve noticed similarities on that front . Female animals will only mate with the dominant male specie. He usually gets to pick & choose who he mates with. Often zoos pair animals for breeding but to no avail, maybe due to lack of chemistry, or the male isn't the dominant force . Do you believe animals are more intelligent and have human traces that we don’t give them credit for?

I have always believed that we are very arrogant to be condescending about animals. Every living thing has a right to be here, and I believe there is more equitability than many people think. My new family member, a kitten, has an equal place in my life as anyone else. I hope this doesn’t sound dorky, or that someone out there will challenge it. Perhaps there WAS a time when I thought differently, but I can, with a very clear conscience, say that my cat is just as important as any other family member..

For God's sake kittens aren't equal...... they are superior.

Hi Ro. Animals have more emotions than we give them credit for. You have an emotional connection with your feline & I’m sure the feeling is mutual . There are many cases where animals, domesticated or not , suffer from depression when they are not in familiar surroundings or with other members of their species. It’s a big responsibility to care for a pet . I’m sure you’re up to that challenge
We take months to be born and spend years contributing precisely nothing so that we can grow up in a variety of extremely different ways.
What's common in humanity is getting eaten by a lion. You would find that many of our differences and our problems would simply melt away if we were thrown to the lions.
One2note: The consumption of animals is the circle of life . Their energy is transferred into us humans . I’m not sure if killing animals for profit is the way to go , but killing pests I’m in agreement with .
We don't normally interact wit h the animals we put on the supper table. I like rabbit but i would not be able to eat a pet rabbit that was in my house. Some communities in Newfoundland have "adopted" a stray baby moose, named it and made sure it was taken care of. When moose season opens, the moose is marked - signs are erected - warning of this particular moose that has no fear of humans due to the community interactions. I don't think that particular moose would taste as good as other "wild" moose just due to the thoughts of "who" he/she was. We've all seen shows about a, animal behaviours, especially the mating habits. What is being shown?? The female waits to see which male is the strongest, fiercest, most colourful, provides best and has a mating dance all his own. So in that case, humans are like animals.... they want the best so that their offspring will have the best traits to carry on the lineage.
And cats...... Cats are lovely, can be lovable......... But a DOG??? Goofy, obedient (most times), loyal, protective, droolie (ok, don't like that too much), companions, side kicks.... and the Thelma to your Louise.

Hi Taralyn
Love your last comment and so apt in my case except the names
I've had both over many years and always found that a dog will respond when it's called, but cats are like "leave a message and I'll get back to you."

* for what it’s worth, I wasn’t all that crazy about the internet in the first place..it was an “ acquired” taste
