My favorite teacher in high school was English, and spelled many words differently...also in college I had a Scot instructor who had variations. However, when I try to spell, say, behaviour, etc...the computer does not “allow” it, until I make another attempt. It then underlines it as “error”, but allows. It bugs me, because the British spellings are often considered more correct. This is mentioned in American Colonial school books, and was often included in what were then called “horn books”. (These were finely sanded slates with a moveable writing surface that, when lifted off the slate, would “erase” the writing so that they could be used again. Just a little history about ‘spelling’. I’m waxing nostalgic, amn’t I?
this idea is not new. Most people here don’t believe it will happen anytime soon. There are just way too many people who still use cash. The rioting alone would bring such a plan to a screeching halt.
Within a few days I’m going to add a photo of myself and also one of Skedaddle. (I can’t add Skedaddle until I have an actual pic of myself, too..then, if I want, I can just use Skedaddle’s photo..rules are rules..) as for the question—welllll, the date was very nice, we went out to the beach and had small but yummy picnic, walked a bit...it was overcast until the last hour, then the sun was shining. Like I said, he is saying he’s not “inclined” but the mixed message seems otherwise—(would it be better to e-mail? Oh, what the heck, the other members are used to me.. ) for now, I’ll respect his reservation...
Just wanting to know, as the info on sites is contradictory: how long (years) must one keep documents, such as bank and credit card statements, utility bill receipts, medical records, and so on? (Yes, I’m stroking for free advice!) {my filling cabinet is getting full}
Good morning. I SO admire your diplomacy! I’ve had a couple of occasions to write the moderators, but ONLY if the circumstances were just absolutely untenable. They have been wonderful. However, it’s not reasonable for members (note I’m NOT targeting anyone..) to expect individual micro-management of every situation. Like everything else in life, there are expected and foreseeable consequences. If something is annoying, delete or ignore. It’s like learning to always close cupboard doors that you frequently bang your head against—the door will always be there, you can fix the problem by SIMPLY CLOSING IT.
ive heard that single fathers in your country have an even worse time of it than ours do (and they are NOT treated fairly here..). There’s a movie based on a true story where the widower father (Pierce Brosnan) has to fight very, very hard to keep his children, but ultimately an Irish magistrate sides with him, and he wins.
(Karlorado) thank you thank you thank you—you made my day...both light-hearted and with valuable life-lessons..AND, easy listening...ah, those were the days..
Many people don’t “get” the concept of Faith. It really does mean believing without having ‘evidence’. In the movie “The Sound Of Music”, the sister of postulates says to Mother Superior, “It seems you are giving Sister Maria doubtful lenience”. Mother Superior responds, “I always have faith in my doubts”.
...doing a little “window-shopping..??” I’m going to see him again-we connected big time, and he’s very sweet. I’m just a little confused...he let me get FAR...(straight guy would have drawn the line MUCH sooner..) and, like I said, we talked on the phone that evening and he said, “ I’m looking forward to seeing you. Yeah, actually I can’t WAIT to see you”...hmmm...do you see why I’m a little asea on this?
yeah, I’m thinkin’...but I’m a little confused. (It’s totally unnecessary for him to be saying that—-perhaps just not ready to face the music, but likes the choreography, anyway?
YES! Thanx a zillion..I bought him a small scratch post for now, today searching for some toys to divert his attention from biting(playfully) me...it’s very normal, but the vet said to ‘curb’ it....a little of it is ok for now, he said. Thanks for your interest in my life, it matters and is very, very appreciated. We (America) are experiencing multiple crisis’ and my own family is having some, too, so you are a light in the tunnel...bless you
Dodge... (I’ve a feeling you can back down the devil, darls...) I might not participate for awhile, but will watch later for comments. I’m busy. Gotta go babysit a flying squirrel. Or is it a cat? Or is it Superman?
