RE: rationing rice in America

Do you only watch fox News or something? America does not feed the world. Per capita Ireland (tiny speck that it is), feeds more people than the whole of the united states.

You need to be seeing the bigger picture here.....

RE: rationing rice in America

What happened to a world view, and caring about poverty. The people in india and china sometimes have nothing except rice for meals. It's not something that they have WITH something else. There often is nothing else.

Would you have them starve to stop rationing something you don't need anyway in america? You have a choice about what you eat. They don't.

I wasn't THAT compliant!!!!rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

RE: rationing rice in America

The whole world is rationed because the crops got washed out this year and last, so countries like india and china don't have enough for their own countries. Thailand is producing for export but it more expensive so supermarkets aren't buying it. It's not ALL about the state that America is in........doh

RE: Any Brits that have travelled to the USA recently

You got lucky. I had it done the other way around. Went to the States to meet someone I had been having phone conversatons with for nearly a year, and he told me that I had best bring my money in notes because he was far from banks and cash machines. Then when I got there, (still in the airport), told me he had better keep my money for me because of theives. I never saw it again. He proceeded to do me out of $1000 that first day.

You might think I was gullible, but remember I was in a foreign country, (that was my first time there), knowing no one except him, having no clue of where I was or how to get help, so I went along with it. Couldn't wait to get out of there though.

I had other money that he didn't know about because I'm not COMPLETELY stupid, and used that to go home again.

No accounting for whom you talk to over the internet.........

RE: What's the most ironic thing that has happened to you?

I used to send my kids to their father every year for a month. We lived in different countries. One year the troubles here in NI were heightening up and trouble at airports, so I sent them by bus and boat and felt they would be safer. The bus was overtaken by another bus full of kids on the way, and my kids, being kids, were complaining it wasn't fair. When they reached Omagh, both buses pulled up at the lights at the end of a street and the Omagh Bomb went off and the bus in front had people killed and injured from the blast. I had to wait 24 hours while they travelled the rest of the way to their dad in order to hear if they were safe. So much for keeping them out of trouble!

RE: Any Brits that have travelled to the USA recently

Sounds like you got a scammer or user. No decent person pulls a trick like that. I travel to the states often and always get e tickets and no problems with needing extra money.

RE: How do you behave when you are alone????

I wear work clothes when I am home alone and if not chastised for it I will wear them everywhere. (A cleaner and slightly better version of what I wear to work in).

(In my work I get covered in paint and wood splinters and dust and such, so no point destroying good clothes).

I rarely eat at at table when alone because my table is often the assistant to a work in progress and I have schedules. Food stays in the kitchen.

I never slouch around alone in pj's or nightwear, never did it in my life so won't start now, besides which I have people call at all hours to get their back fixed or see the progress of something I am working on.

I think I am too well conditioned to let my guard slip regarding manners even when alone too. (Quite repressed really aren't I?).

I'm more likely to relax my rules in company than when I am alone, in that, I might take my time to get dressed...

RE: Karma - The Web of Maya

I found that reading and studying helped me immensely in allowing me to be introduced to a range of subjects and aspect and opinions that I could not have done just by experience or asking everyone I met about what they had learned.

It's not the only way to learn, obviously, but I find it helps, fit more into this lifetime.

RE: God exists???

thumbs up

RE: Karma - The Web of Maya

We weren't given the brain capacity to figure it out in this life anyway.

RE: It has been said

Start with books or there won't even be subject matter to give you direction for an experience. Then go find out if what you read is true or not, and of course ask loads of questions.......

RE: Karma - The Web of Maya

Thanks Stress, never used drugs, but some do, to get there. I read up on south american hallucinogenic trips by chewing some root, and the use of drums to induce travel, it's all very interesting.

RE: Karma - The Web of Maya

He was here earlier. It makes sense in so far as you explained it , yes. Now another question.... what about people who say they go into another realm and find bliss during meditation, or people who experience ecstasy and "see" things other worldly? They are not dead. What about the unexplainable that happens right here?

RE: Karma - The Web of Maya

It is a constant, this astral plane, it will always be here. There are other planes of existence that we can go to depending on our karma

I just wondered if you meant that we have to die in this life to reach these other planes?
