Highfidelity, That is very lovely the way you describe Sprituality. Yes, I also believe its not something you can just find in a book, its something inside of oneself.

It is something very fragile that is beyond description almost.

Thank you for your intelligent input here.

RE: being a single parent

Apologies, I shouldnt have entered on this thread.... It seems to be for people with small children.

I think you all just got to resign yourselves to being lonely and celibate until the kids have grown up and left home.... unless you can manage to sneak out when they got something more interesting to do than stay at home with you...yawn rolling on the floor laughing dancing

Yes, I like what you say Yami. So now can we discuss Islam? Do we have any Islamic members on the site? I realy love what the Koran has to say about behaviour in general..... not what the Fundamentalists say, but what the actual Koran writings say.

RE: single exchange of homes

This is the stuff Nightmares are made of!

I would NEVER consider letting any strangers, especially with children, stay in my home for their holiday. I have heard countless horror stories concerning this sort of stuff. And Con-men/women are thick on the ground!

Its like having a robbery, and then it takes sometimes a few months to discover items missing.doh

Is this a Fair Topic?

Posting Threads concerning Religion can be a very dicey venture. As long as the participants are free to voice their feeling without inviting censure and criticism, it could prove interesting.

But Religion, being a persons inner belief structure, needs much tolerance. The inviting of the publics opinions on such a personal matter should not be taken lightly, or be used to put down whatever anyone writes.

Am I being a "Mother Grundy" here? Is Spritual Life of so light a matter these days that its become a sort of joke?

dunno

RE: easter

Christianity should never be confused with Catholicism.....The Roman Catholic Church embraced All Pagan Rituals and Beliefs to increase their membership. The Roman Catholic Church then burnt Heretics, which included anyone not Worshipping the Catholic Way, and also ALL the Wise Women, who were the Healers and Herbalists .... to enforce Male Dominance on Society... Contrary to the Matriarchal Systems.

Pure Christianity is something very few folk are even aware of.

Christianity has been dealt a Great Dis-service by being mistaken for the Follies carried out by the Catholic Church which has led people astray under the pretext of calling itself "Christian".

The Basis of Christianity is the Ten Commandments, the First Commandment being "You will not worship images". Another states "You will call no man Father". It's subtle... but its there!

Christianity is based on Christ. Observe a Catholic Ceremony, and decide if anything there even remotely resembles the humbleness of the Christ? Catholicism is not a choice, it is an inherited system of pagan worship. Personally I enjoy Paganism, just my own brand of it!

RE: Are date websites viable?

Cristina, hi,wave ... I think this is a little bit of "La-La Land", people try and create an image for themselves. A few come across as genuine, but they may just be good at the written projection.

Maybe deep down inside we all got some sort of self-image we try and project.....despite the outside "real" part?

Then there are the self-servers doing their bit of "market research" under the guise of seeking a partner.

And, of course, there seems to also be the "players" who are not realy seeking a true partner, just amusing themselves and catering to their own egos?

Call me cynical, but I been here 6 months, and I'm beginning to believe its not realy about Real contact..... its just an amusement, and a Form of Mythical Contact? Whom you think you know... you actually dont know at all. And at the click of a button, the friendships come to an end.yawn

RE: mobile phones and driving

I love all the laws. There are good reasons for them. If you obey them you are fairly safe.

Behind the scenes a lot of work goes on trying to keep motorists from killing each other.

People crash their cars while fiddling with their radios, never mind talking to kids in the back seat!

There are too many motorists on the roads now, to be able to take it for granted that loved ones will travel safely.

Here in Switzerland the roads are extremely narrow and take all ones concentration just to keep ones side mirrors from being taken off by oncoming traffic! Talking on a mobile phone is a fine of Sf200.

One takes a Voice Message, then you find a safe place to pull over and attend to the phonecall.

My one son was a ParaMedic, and was sickened at the Road Carnage due to irresponsible driving. The gap between Life/Death/Permanent Disability..... is a couple millimetres, or seconds.

Hitchalaka laka muyeni ignobi!rolling on the floor laughing

Whats the Bible got to do with this quote? You, dear sir, have admitted to never having read it, quite proudly too, I do recall.

If you can please be so kind as to quote to me the Chapter wherein this "quote" is quoted I shall be delighted to educate myself even further!

Further to this stomach turning excercise, may I be allowed to shed some light on the darkness shining here? I do believe that somewhere you may have heard that the Biblical version of Christs Crucifiction took place on a certain Friday, and this Mythical Creature called the Christ is said to have arisen from his grave on the 3rd day..... and hence we have this Christian Belief of Renewed Life on the 3rd day of His Death. BUT, being a self-confessed non-believer in this Book of Hearsay and Repeated Scribblings by Illiterate Old Men, of Garbled Mythical Stories, I am simply amazed that somehow you have interpreted some Rambling Old Religious Preacher story as the meaning behind the CHOCOLATE EGGS.

Sorry, I just did not connect the subject of "Life Renewal"/Easter, as posted by a self-confessed Non-Believer in the Bible, with anything serious enough to warrant taking deep thought about.

The Idea, to Christianity, is just that, An Idea. There are no "Quotes" to quote from. Taking little pieces that suit you and throwing out what doesnt suit you, then lumping it all together as a lot of nonsense, is NOT Congruent, and therefore not worthy of any further comment.

Now, be realy brave, and start a |New Thread dealing with the Muslim Faith.

Gee, I love this Forum, its so Educational! I learning things here every day!
I just need this explained a bit more clearly..... this "renewal thing at easter time"? Wots chocolate bunnies and things got to do with Renewed Life? Are we discussing the hatching of chickens here?

I just hope this is not another of those things like the Santa Clause story..... I was devastated to learn last year that he does not exist!... and now I just so puzzled over WHO was it that came down the chimney at Christmas time, with all those gifts?.. never mind how the heck a guy so fat got down there in the first place, carrying a great big sack of gifts, and how he managed to land his sleigh with 12 reindeer on the steep pitch of the roof? dunno

RE: god

hug Thank you. Those kind words were a joy to find.cheers

RE: god

Toleration of other peoples beliefs. I find this interesting. Someone posts a thread about gods, or God, or whatever, asking for input. One puts in ones input... and then all hell breaks loose?

When one is asked ones opinion, and one replies, I dont feel that that is "professing to know the answers"....? It is merely stating ones personal opinion. "Arguing" is a different story completely... and this, as far as I can gather, not an argument. I simply gave my opinion..... I realy dont give a fig for what anyone else wants to believe. And what I believe, is something personal to me, and I would never lay it out here to be trampled on.

OF COURSE... no one knows for sure! Thats why since the beginning of time wars are fought over "religion".

And Mr Trelawny, I have gotten so tired of seeing my face on this Forum, that I withdrew my photos, and, after moving house, when I finally locate my camera, and get someone to take new photos of me, and then locate a pc literate family member who has the time, to load them onto my computer, so I can FINALLY update my photos... then I shall be faceless no more.....So, until then, I have stuck in last years old photos. cool

I just enjoy ruffling your feathers. You see, when someone wants to talk Religion or Politics, then they are stirring up the muddy waters. Have you ever tried either of those two subjects in polite company?... I tell you, politeness will fly out the window!

HEY, and also, I did not "mock" you ..... I complimented you!

Now, I think, not sure, but some folk on this Forum seem to be taking offence about things... and so Im not sure if I am allowed to respond here to an itemised posting.... but as this is the way its been going for the last 6 months, I'll just carry on. Well, Old Chap, when you ask for opinions and you get them, then you try and criticise, and try and point out that you dont want what someone has written, is that not exactly like something called "Hipocracy"?

Now, you want to nit-pick with what I have written, I do expect the same curtesy will be extended to each and every other contributor to this Thread?

And I am very happy to hear that your god is inside you all the time, must be a very comforting feeling to have?

Sometimes it is good to have good books recommended for reading... it helps to broaden ones mind...... I know I have enjoyed almost every book recommended to me by intellectual sorts who enjoy reading, instead of just sprouting nonsense out of the top of my head.

But, I guess it takes all sorts, huh?cheers

RE: god

People who ask realy seriously stupid questions .... but who also refute the belief that the Bible is the Living Word of God... should just do themselves, and others, a favour, a go read the Book?

The bible gives simple instructions on how to behave.... From how to set up your camp-site, to arbitrating disputes with your neighbors, to how to treat your wife/female life partner, and visa-versa for women, how to judge situations, how to rear an obedient child, when and how to lend money and what interest to charge, how to treat various diseases, and who to worship, and who and what not to worship.

Before the written word was available... ancient tribes created their own forms of worship of the natural world, it is an instinct in humans to worship a higher power.

Once the written word became available, it was attempted to defile by civilisation/politics/certain religious orders.... but it has survived and still remains the worlds best selling and most widely read book... for the simple reason that it is what it claims to be.
However, if you want to read with a closed and bigotted mind, you will find your own mind reflected back at you.

Conversely, read with an open enquiring mind, the Word will Speak to you.

If you like the idea of life with no God... then I would suggest you try reading an excellent book on the subject... By Aldous Huxley, entitled "Brave New World"...written as far back as 1932 when Henry Ford invented the conveyor-belt method of production.

Personally, I would not attempt to blaspheme an Almighty God, especially when He has intervened many times in my life, and assisted me when I needed His help. He's a Good and Powerful Guy to have on one's side!

cheers

WOW, nice evening we had, even had Karaoke! And then found "Sargeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band".... that went down realy well, especially with the 70's generation of Doctor/Lawyer students!! One guy, is defending his client against Corporate Fraud and he had to be in High Court today!!!
The good news is that HD is back, again, bobbing for apples in the beer-on-tap overflow barrel.... and then we rigged up a little plastic pipe overflow out the window, and Uk is selling that stuff to his clients in the alleyway outside!... dog slobber and all! They dont seem to notice, in fact they think his beer is super!(its got that "special something" ingredient (?!!!) that no other pub has.
