Is there any specific reason why I would have loyalty to the Tax Man?
I would say, each man to his own business.... the boss and how he conducts his business is his own affair. I do my job and get paid for it.... as do all the other employees.
If I want to delve into the tax problems of the company, then I should also be delving into all the other corners too? like profit margins? suppliers? how orders are attained?... NOPE, I leave the man to conduct his own affairs.
Gee, ... that is going to take up all my spare time.... I mean between 20 and 30 flowers and emails a day is a lot to respond to, hey! LOL... just joking. I do that anyway, and then I dont see these fly-by-night characters again..... those are the Fishermen I been complaining about..... the Cyba version of guys who hang out on street corners and whistle at every female who walks past?.. in the hope they might get lucky eventually!
That is one of the things missed here in CH I must admit.... freedom to do what you feel like doing... its a very controlled country. But then again... its a very SAFE country! The children can play out in the village, even after dark, without worrying about them being accosted/abducted/maimed. You can walk home from a party at 2 or 4 in the morning without worrying about being mugged. Im not talking about the big cities..... this is in the villages.
I will not respond to your accusations of leaving SA...you could never understand, and I am not becoming involved in political discussions anymore... when you have had your family executed on the roadside because of their skin colour, politics loses its flavour. I prefer the lighter, inane, comical side of life.
Dear Killingtime, I do believe the Threads on this Forum should be read individually. The aim here is to discuss one subject at a time. If you take all the Threads posted by an individual, and put them all together, and over them all you take turns alloting a Title to each batch of contributions.... well, it just does not make any sense, does it?
So this Thread is titled "Family Values". Then you seem to have gotten confused and clumped together "Saving the Planet", an irrelevent little posting by the author of this thread from a comment in another thread under "Singles, Supermarkets....", and maybe some other diverse subject, etc etc, then all you are doing is irritating me... and making me think you are a complete cardboard box.
If this discussion makes you uncomfortable then why dont you just ignore it if you have nothing worthwhile to contribute?
I personally dont care a fig for this Thread, I just thought it would encourage a discussion. My children have been raised successfully, and I do not have these issues as a main objective anymore.
Are you an exponent of the belief that it is better to do nothing, say nothing, and then no one can ever criticise you? If this thread is so puerile, please feel free to post something more worthwhile.
Family Values.... come from the Family, dont they? I think they are the Love of the Family.
I just heard from friends in South Africa, where the death rate from Aids is frightening, that the rural areas are about 50% inhabited by child families.... where the parents have died, and these little children are living alone with their siblings, maintaining their homes, and trying to survive! Where before the grandparents took over the families left behind, they are running out of grandparents, because the parents (next generation of grandparents) are dead from Aids. Now a (one only) NGO is trying to help these kids, before they die from starvation and neglect.
These little kids, with no examples to follow, are trying their best to have some sort of value in their family, by sticking together, and doing their best, with what they have, which is not much at all.... and worst of all is that they seem to have no future.
So, maybe in some sort of way, each family sets its own Values. And I agree, there are no Laws that can encourage Value in the Family... only Love can do that. And this ties in with the other Thread about Marriages breaking up and the reasons.... I think its "Dead Relationship"?
I agree with everything that Sunshine and Jan have to say on the matter of appearance. I am merely pointing out that it does happen. And yes, people do leave their partners for wrong reasons. And yes again, people choose their partners sometimes for only their appearance and when it changes they get thrown out. You guys acting like I am the inventor of this reason for marriages to break down. I absolutely and thoroughly agree with both of your, and everyone else with this point of view, and it would be lovely if no matter what one's partner turned into, one was safe in the knowledge that they will still find each other desirable, and the marriage would realy be until they eventually died of old age. You guys stand there shouting that "it should not end because of appearance".... but, dear friends, marriages are breaking up so fast they almost equalling the speed of light.... and the (1st) world has never had such a problem with obesity (and linked diseases) as it has now...... and such shallow reasons for divorce!
Well yes, It does get eventually like supermarket shopping. Tune into CS, see "mail" or "flowers".... check them out... All it says is "Hi how are you".... go to my "whos viewed me", and the character who sent the mail has not viewed my profile.... So I conclude that I just on their random mailing list... Like a Fisherman who sits all day waiting for a bite?
Now, after being here for about 6 months, I got some genuine folk who write or send flowers, and I delete the strangers with their characterless memo's. So yes, I agree, no potatoes today thanks.
Guerilla Farming.... what a lovely term that is! I also did that once upon a time.... spreading indigenous flower seeds, and eventually the village (not here... back in SA) was sprouting flowers everywhere!
By the time I left there, the roadsides where thick with Day Lilys, and the more arid areas covered in yellow marigolds.
For fruit, we spread Guava seeds, Mango and PawPaw pips... for the Monkeys to eat. The secret with fruit is to simply throw down a complete fruit... eventually with its own nutrients and moisture the seeds sprout, and if carefully hidden from Humans, a tree will eventually grow.
I just thought, seeing that most cereals are a form of grass, and cows, goats, sheep, horses, buck, rhinos, rabbits, mice, all eat grass.... it stands to reason that it should be the most eaten food?
So ... I right again
Next Question: If you get a "flock of pigeons", a "gaggle of geese", an "exhaltation of Larks"....... What do you call a lot of Crows?
This is your New President speaking.... and I have just passed a New Law. You will all use the excellent Train and other Public Service Transport as from Monday. No longer will you be allowed to travel all alone in your motor vehicle, into the cities. All motor vehicles, should they be used, must be fully occupied by at least 4 persons.
This is being done to conserve the vital resources of the Planet, and to prevent pollution.
Im busy now with "The Return of Merlin"... something I would not have personally chosen to read, but his was loaned to me and I was told I realy would enjoy it..... And I AM!... very enjoyable, learning all about the Wizard Merlin.
Yes, thank you for correcting my spelling. Everyone on this site has such impeccable spelling and grammar, I cringe with embarassment over this......and am deeply grateful to you for pointing this out.
To entertain yourself, would you like to read thru most of the other Threads, and correct anyone else who has grammatical errors?
HI FREEZE!! So nice to have you back girl! There is a Flying Lesson tonight hey, so dont forget your broom, and we got a new member... Picky has joined us, she is actually quite experienced in flying her broom, now she just wants to brush up on her defensive flying.
