No 'E's please

Was that an 'e' i saw slipping out in your quotescold

grin

No 'E's please

Even more so when you find out he
wrote the book in the past tense and
had to aviod words ending in...ed.
No wonder it killed him.

No 'E's please

Not a bad try though bubbsthumbs up

No 'E's please

Thank you bajan, good try, but i dont think
i can allow .....'s
Its difficult to say what you would usually
say without using that most common symbol.

No 'E's please

Read a couple of pages Trish, its quite a good
story too.

No 'E's please

I doubt it, even the use of Mr and Mrs he
excluded on the basis that read out
loud would include the letter e.

No 'E's please

Around 1939 Earnest Wright managed to
write a novel of 50,100 words without
using the letter e. Known as a lipogram.
Sadly, Earnest died the day the novel
(Gadsby) was published.

I think this way of writing is ultra difficult
and to finish a full book of so many words
is totally amazing.
How long a story or how much information
could you draw up without using this
impotant symbol?
Try it, its a painfully unaccommodating way
of writing.

See what i did theregrin

RE: How well traveled are you really?

Yes near Whitby, a lovely little fishing village,
the old part of the town and castle is a good
place to visit.
Inland from there are The North York Moors,
great walking countryside. I love it around
there.
Strange you should mention Robin Hoods Bay.
My eldest son was conceived on a campsite
there 35 years agowow

Just though i'd slip that one in there

Ive travelled a fair bit over the years.

far to see so much.grin

RE: Whats the best way to deal with abusive posters?

I dislike being irritated on a regular basis,
you know, like an annoying fly buzzing
round your head.

But thats all it is...an irritation.

No worries though...sooner or later

that fly will get swatted...on here or in R/L

If only you knewwow

Should there be a limit on amount of threads?

Oh i've not been swayed that much MF
It was just something i was pondering
this morning without any real conviction
one way or the other.
Anyway its a bit out of character for me
to be asking for more rules.
I seem to have spent most of my life
breaking them.grin

Should there be a limit on amount of threads?

On reflection, i think i agree with this postthumbs up

RE: Please gimme ur honest opinion...

Good profile minimoo,

but you know what they say..,

there's nothing as strange as folk.

I wouldnt worry about ithug

Should there be a limit on amount of threads?

For what its worth, i think tha a limit
of ten threads per day would not
restict most of us in any way.
It would nevertheless restict the
odd clowns that turn up from time
to time bombarding us with endless
threads however well meaning.
