it's my favorite topic, I want to say a lot about it but i have a language problem. my English is very bad, I mostly use google-translator to write here. I waste a lot of time to translate my thoughts into English. So i will say in short:
All human beings are equal on the basis of fundamental feelings.
fundamental feelings doesn't need any language. The knowledge generated on the basis of these feelings is called Spiritual knowledge. it doesn't need any language. But when this knowledge is explained to someone through some language and he accepts it without experiencing it himself, then he becomes religious.
After all, all religions are based on a holy book. holy books are someone's inner experience based on fundamental feelings. The author of these holly books had there own inner experience that is why they were all spiritual. But today those who believe in these holly books do not have any inner experience of their own, that is why they become religious.
Truth and lies are part of life. Even Mother-Nature lies. Without both there can be problems in life. What is the meaning of a lie, to show something else and the motive behind it be something else. For example: Insect-eater plants attract insects into false attraction to eat them. Some predatory animals show false attraction to attract their prey. In order to increase the population of a species, nature attracts males and females into each other with false attraction.
Mother-Nature is the biggest liar.
So never expect 100% pure truth from anyone. Mother-Nature could not yet developed such a species which is 100% pure truth.
Life is a mixture of truth and falsehood. This is the bitter truth of life.
But maybe we can feel the pure truth in a newborn baby.

I have a fabricated story: In a forest a hunter is chasing an animal to hunt it. The animal was far ahead of the hunter, that animal passed by me, after sometime the hunter came to me and asked me in which direction my prey had gone? in this situation i will not tell him true, i will misguide him to save that animal.
In this fabricated story, telling truth can kill that animal and telling lie can save that animal's life.
Generally truth is good and lie is bad. But in some special circumstances truth and false become slightly different. It is not only true to say anything as it is, but the intention behind it also matters. The intention behind true or false decides what is right and what is wrong, it doesn't matter it is bitter or sweeter. Bitter truth can also be said in a sweet tone, just we should know how to say it.
Truth spoken with the intention of harming someone is worse than a lie. A lie told for one's benefit is better than the truth.
It may be self-respect to consider yourself better than others but expecting respect for yourself from others according to that consideration is definitely ego.
"Fear of losing and greed to gain" This is the basic instinct of human, it never ends. Fear and greed are found in all living beings which end only after death.
You may not have ego, but definitely you have fear and greed. Even in the worship of God, there is hidden fear and greed.
We must give to others what we expect from others for ourselves.
We must give to others what we expect from others for ourselves. And We must not give to others what we don't expect from others for ourselves.
