RE: Why men have trouble communicating their feelings

I don't believe men have trouble to communicate feelings. That is a women's construction because women imagine that men have similar emotions and expect men to show their emotions in same ways as women do. I just think men have different emotions and feel differently. May be sometimes when a woman expect him to show some emotion, he just hasn't a clue what she is talking about? And may be some times a woman is better off that he does not show emotion, or she would be in trouble!

RE: Do you believe in soul mates and the possibility of forever love?

I do believe that there are soul mates and love for ever. But I think it is as rare as Euro Million jackpot. But I still play Euro Million! It could be me! Same with the love thing! laugh

RE: USA ability...

All state budgets come from taxpayers. I don't think Ministry or Department of Defense, whatever is there, earns money.

Yeah, why do US spend so much money on war? To preserve its status as a superpower I guess.

RE: Drug testing???

Really? What companies require it?

RE: USA ability...

The potential war between the USA and Iran. I did not say it is necessarily going to happen. There is a lot of speculation though. It should not happen if the both parties were rational, since both may have disastrous consequences, but are they? And it may be not about the absolute gains and losses but about power balances. Many claim America gained nothing from going to war in Iraq, but they went anyway.

RE: The Blame Game

That is one of standards! laugh

RE: Are you alone and lonely or just alone?

What space? Your own home or any space you are in?

RE: Why nice men are difficult to find?

You say they don't choose but take what they find. Hm, that may be the problem because women like a bit of 'choosing' or chasing done by men. laugh I would usually think that if the guy does not actively court me, he is just not interested enough. Some bold guys don't take no for answer and maybe mislead women to think that they care. While nice and shy guys are 'chosen' by bold women. So, it is probably not only about hormones, but about characters too. Opposites attract, but don't stay together. I once read the book about cosmology, it explained how the matter is made. It is not the opposites but the similar particles that form strong bonds and form the matter under the cosmic forces. So should probably people do, but what would be the force to push them together? Ha ha, some philosophy here! laugh

RE: Major Panic Attacks

I have had panic every time I was on the street or in a shopping centre 10 years ago. But I had to get a job and it was in shopping centre! Somehow facing the fear I did get rid of it. I could not also step on the elevator before that shopping centre work, but now I am fine.

RE: Why nice men are difficult to find?

But how to recognize these nice guys then? How do you know that they are the ones who will take care of home and look after relationship? I guess it is better if people get to know each other in a situation like school, work etc where the true personality reveals. May be the pub is not the right place to choose the mate, the bold ones will dominate and push some shyer guys to side.

RE: One Good Memory

Well, seeing a sea for the first time at the age of two! It seemed to be a miracle to me! Then, when I got skates and learned skating, it was great too. Shining ice and I am able to slide over it! Then a very cold morning with bright stars and I was walking to get milk from the farm. I always remember those stars and snow, it was may be over minus 20, the sun had not yet risen and I seemed to be alone on the earth. I was may be 9 years old. A bit scary, but great. Us children picking sweet, warm wild strawberries. A boy in my class standing in for me when I fell and twisted my ankle. The others laughed. I was 10 then. That boy liked me and I liked him, but my parents moved and I had to change the school. When I think, that was the only time in my life when there was a mutual affection between me and a guy! Yes, when I start thinking, there are some nice memories, but actually they don't mean anything to others because they are just little sweet things, nothing grand.

RE: One Good Memory

Trying to think of, but nothing special comes to my mind. Yours was good though!

RE: WVM

I very seldom look in it. What is a point?

RE: neat relationship

Could you befriend a lady of 70 years of age? What she would need to be like? And 25 years old? Or would you think that a friendship is possible with the older lady and not with the younger? I have had some male friends in their 20s, but somehow I think it would not have worked with these in their 30s, because I would perceive them and they me as potential mates. The 20 something years old guys were better friends - they appreciated my female qualities and intellect but did not attempt to seduce me, and same for me. So, it all depends, it is possible but with conditions.

RE: USA ability...

I read somewhere that the Iran war would be financed partly by some Arab states, so it would not be too great burden to US. As for US citizens, their lives would not be affected too much, may be just some more curses from Arabs? laugh But do American citizens care about them when it is about 'America's national interest?'

RE: WHEN YOUR. 13 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER claims she is ready for the birth control pill, do you consent?

Be the parent, NOT your kids best friend... Yeah, that is how it should be. But probably it is now easier said than done because children know they will have no consequences for not obeying their parents. That is a sad consequence from these games with individual liberties gone too far. Children don't know what they are doing at 13 and can't be allowed to do as they please. But as I said, it is easier said than done. dunno

RE: True Colors

I don't think so. It is a life long task, and we may not accomplish it. I am trying not to lie to myself, but still, I may not recognize all the ways I am and have been conditioned. The world molds you from the moment you are born. It forms the way you think, and by the time you begin to be aware of this influence, it has done its job of forming your perception of self. So, you see yourself from a pre-formed perspective.

But is there any not preformed perspective of self? Like if we were raised in vacuum, no influence from outside? No molding? What would we be then? May be we would not be human at all? dunno May be that is what we are - reflection of the surrounding world with some personal characteristics?

RE: ???

Agree!

RE: Ladies....What is your Favourite ... foreplay-wise...??

Relaxing massage! laugh

RE: dance like no one's watching

Life is what happens to us when we are busy with other things, or thinking about other things, something like that. So we are missing nothing, it happens anyway! laugh

RE: How...............

One year here with breaks, had 2 dates. One still under question, the other out of question! laugh

RE: When Life Has Dealt You a Bad Had.....H E L P

May be try to research some natural cures? I read about hyaluronic acid (hope spelling is right) reducing osteoarthritis symptoms. It lubricates joints. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in joints, but is reduced with age and that may be one of reasons why osteoarthritis occur. There are different things that are supposed to help, but none really restores joints. Bromelain may help to reduce inflammation and pain, but one must be careful, since it thins the blood. Phlogenzyme has similar properties. iHerb carry many products that claim to help with symptoms, you may want to look at that. Less starches in diet, less sugar and more oily fish also may help with inflammation and pain.

My mother walks with these Nordic walking sticks. It is better than cane, because the weight is distributed evenly on both sides. Or use one or other according the situation.

RE: True Colors

How do you know what is 'true' you? Is it possible at all?

RE: Post US Empire collapse

Reply to Oby Doby. Sorry, don't know what happened, somehow posted without comment.

I think that almost all you mentioned would not disappear. I understand the idea of OP as a decentralization of power, so that the 50 states would be completely independent. I don't know for sure, but may be the world would be better off without super powers, be it America or China or what ever? Or at least not worse? I would prefer it that way. Of course, I know about hegemonic stabilizers, and stuff, but that is just a theory. These huge powers come with their own dangers to others and it is hard to judge whether the world would be better or worse off without them.

RE: Post US Empire collapse

RE: Swiss cheese desease.

Well, I am not stuffing myself with cheese all day long, it is not good in large quantities. But you must know that no food is without danger, we pay the price for eating anything. There is no perfect food whatsoever. Oxidation, glycation, whatever, food is killing us. We are eating away our lives, but on the other hand, not eating we will die faster. Moderation as always is the answer. cheers

RE: Losing weight

About 5 years ago I had put on some extra weight, some 10kg. But it was not the only thing that worried me. I had digestion and skin problems too. By an accident came across an article. It said that the type of dermatitis I had was from gluten intolerance. Then I started to read about problems with gluten and sugar and tried to avoid both and all the junk foods. Wanted to lose some 5kg, but lost over 10 and stay at this since. And no sign of dermatitis, yeast infections and other skin troubles I had before! I learned that you can eat as much fat as you can and want and you will not gain any weight, rather the opposite. But I would not recommend it. I notice that when I am eating too much fat, I am getting pins and needles all over the body, don't know why. Moderation is best with the fat, although some recommend eating it for weight loss. You may lose weight, but get heart disease. But I don't mean you have to drink low fat milk or something like that. When I say I eat too much, it could be a half liter of cream or a centimeter of butter on the cracker. I just love cream and butter, but now have to use them very sparsely because of these pins and needles. I also try not to eat much starches, just a handful of corn pasta, rice or oats or one medium potato in one meal. It is good to limit them for blood sugar and also for weight control. Use xylitol instead of sugar. It is made from birch trees and I tolerate it much better than sugar. It is low glycemic and tastes good, unlike some other sweeteners. I am also trying to eat less fruit because it is too sugary. Trying not to eat after 5 or 6 pm, but it is difficult when I work, so at least I am trying to eat only a light meal in the evening. It is not a diet. You can't be on the 'diet' for long and if you go off the diet, you gain weight again. To stay on the same weight, you have to chose the way how you will eat and stick to it.

RE: Favorite subject in school

Exactly like mine favorite subjects. Now however I study social sciences and enjoy that.

RE: MEDICAL ADMIN.....

That was great Patmac! I have tears in my eyes from laugh! It may be not as funny as your post, but when I worked in A&E department, there were those ambulance sheets coming with a patient. And there was an instruction to paramedics: don't resuscitate if the patient is decapitated or incinerated! I found that hilarious! What cabbage heads would attempt to resuscitate 'decapitated patient'? doh laugh

The Emerging Threat of Untreatable Gonococcal Infection

N Engl J Med 2012; 366:485-487February 9, 2012

It is time to sound the alarm. During the past 3 years, the wily gonococcus has become less susceptible to our last line of antimicrobial defense, threatening our ability to cure gonorrhea and prevent severe sequelae.

Daters, does not this alarm you? This is one of most common STD's. This publication says that more than 600 000 incidences occur every year. If it becomes untreatable, are not we all in trouble?
