Here we are in the 21st Century and still things are "thrown" around without thinking twice about them. Why are things put into categories when there truly aren't categories for them?

Make sure that everything is updated. Go to windows update and update everything. Also make sure you have the latest version of Java.

On another note, you may want to check and see if there's an updated driver for your video card.

I can't help much as far as the programs go for Vista, though from what I've been told anything that was compatible with XP was supposed to be compatible with Vista. I still use XP because it's been a more stable operating system, and until Microsoft fixes the issues with Vista I won't get it.

Ok enough about that.

As far as your internet accessibility...You need to go into your control panel and go into internet connections and set it to either Lan or Broadband. If you use the wizard to set up the connection, it will be fairly easy to do.
