Truly smart people don't believe in a god, and do remember that the idea of a god or gods has been a progression of elimination starting with the worship of bears and finally the latest incarnation of an all everything being and it has paralleled our evolution, and if you do any critical thinking you would know it. Also stats from the National Academy of Science states that among biologists and physicists over 90% are atheist or agnostic so your statement is not based on any actual data
Hey montemonte, Being special is something we all are. We are all unique and for some you may not bring what they need but for that someone you will be EVERYTHING, yes everything that is important in life, special is being true to your particular uniqueness, and it is something you might not even be aware of. So rest assured that you are special and just pursue your dreams and dance the dance you were born to dance. Life is a gift, enjoy it and if your not then change what keeps you back and it usually is something in our own minds, so shift your perceptions and so your life shall shift, go for it. Dance with reckless abandon, whoo hooo
We can take the high road and I like to believe I would never hit a woman and I never have, but as you stated, if someone hits you with a bottle over the back of the head and I know I might just spin around and lash out not even knowing if it was a man or woman attacking me, so yes it could happen, and we now have women in the military as do other countries and if one is trying to kill me then I might protect myself. So all the good meaning in our lives go out the window depending on circumstances as horrible as that may be, but to answer your question on a civil note then it would be a resounding NO, but the world is not always civil, unfortunatly, and in a civil world we would not hit anyone be they male or female.
I have seen two UFO's and it was interesting, one came across the sky, stopped then it quickly moved in a loose triangle and paused for an instant and then shot off directly into space, straight upwards and there is nothing to this day that can move like that with our capabilities. The other one was going very very slowly and was in a cylindrical shape and was fairly large, maybe eighty yards long and did not make any noise at all and just very slowly moved up the canyon past my town and eventually disappeared around a bend in the mountain, and it was not a blimp or anything like that, it looked like a metallic cylinder without any windows that we could see, and there were three of us that viewed it. So what to make of it? I shrug my shoulders and get on with life, its interesting and I think there are many unknowns in this life and though it is interesting and fun to speculate it means nothing concrete but an interesting footnote but yes I believe there is something but what? That I don't know
I had to laugh, it was pretty funny and appropriate for a religion as it got the the core of it all. The threat of worshiping a deity and the salvation if believed in. Pretty hilarious if you ask me and sad too. Its another faerie tale, a funny one but nothing redeeming about it at all. Now if I as an atheist told a story about a christian in a similar situation would you all be so relaxed about it? I say fear not for your repressive god will not harm you since he is not real, only a figment of your imaginations
All things come to an end and one day so will the USA but its been a pretty good run all in all. Nothing is permanent so I say have some fun and mix it up, hey go bungy jumping or do cartwheels or something just to mix it all up.
What makes you think something came from nothing? We have no idea what was our galaxies beginning, it is a mystery we may never unravel, and please remember that according to most people the earth was flat and all things revolved around us here a mere 550 years ago, its been only about 30 years that we have even had personal computers, and mobile phones as we now know them only maybe 20 or fewer, so how can we fathom the "creation" of our universe? Oh? god did it? No I think not, no god(s) exist, only man and his fears and delusions. And morality is in no way associated with belief, just as love is not either. Beauty is in our hearts and all living can see it if they open their eyes and embrace it.
Find peace, find the joy of life even with the sadness of the concern. Life is not for the faint hearted. Find a good friend and dance. What would I do? try to heal of course but also let love in and let it all back out, Be appreciative for all of my life and those around me. But this I believe we should do anyway. I say find your joyful place as best you can.
I am exactly who I say I am. I actually say less so there is something for a potential partner to discover as all things are subject to subtle shifts in the flow of life.
To find love is always difficult, and I for one believe that if you find someone that interests you then go for it, because its worth a risk to find love and best of all keep it. So if you feel an interest then its worth a risk. Its difficult for a man or a woman to put themselves out there to be rejected but if we don't make the effort we can never have a reward. I wish deep love for us all, whoo hooo
Be honest in your dress, just be yourself since your trying to find someone who appreciates you as you and you do the same for them. So just be comfortable and be yourself
How far back do you want to go in saying something is our heritage? How about no government just systems in place to keep the flow of goods and needs flowing and a judicial system that is fair and not corrupt for all peoples of the world equally? It is a fantasy but one that would make for a better planet. Our "heritage" shifts as with the sands of time. We focus on the current and forget our long histories, we are moving forward and backwards at the same time. I say burn the bloody flag if you have a good reason, whether to stay warm or make a statement against what your or someones government is doing wrong in your eyes, that is freedom, the same freedom we fight for, it goes both ways.
Borders were created by men and they change with wars or deals that don't actually involve the people living in the effected areas, people just want to live with peace and yes we identify with a flag or a country because of borders but just imagine if all borders were erased and people were free to move about would they go? Some yes many no but the idea of freedom is most important and if all borders were gone then eventually there would be a balance of worth, but that would take a long long time.
I don't think it matters as its the person who matters and everything else is just bonus. But in saying that we are attracted to certain key things but even that is not written in stone. Im more attracted to someone who has a good attitude personally but I like trim women too so its a complex subject
If you want to know who made religion I think you have to go back to when wonder first entered our ancestors minds and then how we connected things through our experiences, so first we worshiped animals (bears in particular) and then there was the mother goddess and it just kept changing from there until a few jewish sects decided on the one god idea and here we are. Other societies had one gods but it just never stuck until sometime in the past three thousand years so its still a farily recent idea. So did man create religion: YES and you want to know who? I would say the desire of many to try to make sense or a world that made less sense as our awareness grew so religions were created to help make sense of it all, but today we actually have some real information unlike what our ancestors had. This is a big issue so you will get lots of posts here
I have had friends who swore they never wanted kids but then "the accident" happened and they became the best parents and even had more children. It is a choice certainly but also a fear due to many factors: the idea of loss of freedom as the main one but its all an illusion and the loss of not having loved ones in our later years is I think a difficult one, no one to concern yourself with and shower love on. But life is a personal journey so yes always discuss it with a potential partner and if they are not open then they were never a good option anyway if that was the direction you want to go. But what a great journey life is. whoo hooo
Trust yourself, open up to what you enjoy and don't own anyone else's opinion of you, listen, but know its just their reaction caused by their experiences and if it doesn't jive with you and your needs then keep walking because sooner or later someone in sync with you will appear but only if you are still open, so its all about respecting others opinions but not owning them. Good luck
RE: If you had to live in one of the listed for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
Tepee's are great. Igloo's are in a cold and barren landscape.
