RE: Ladies, meet my little brother

Thanks girls!

I'll try to be my best but then again I do have a habit, on other forums I belong to, of speaking my mind and ruffling a few feathers along the way! I know that I did that here already and pissed off Mychelle and some other dude...dancing que sera sera...

Oh and regarding Sue's comments about gravy of vegetables...I should elaborate that we have put new meaning to "mixed vegetables" at family dinners!

RE: What Really Is "Baggage"???

Shyatfirst, (Angela?) makes a good point: who really doesn't have baggage to some degree? In our ever changing lives new crises occur and challenge us to deal with them and to "remove" the baggage; past issues rear their ugly heads when we thought they were gone.

After taking years to deal with my own skeletons I like look at it this way:

Closing the door on the past or repressing memories is a dangerous route as no matter what, triggers will occur that will open that door again. It will happen, and dealing with the issue down the road will only be harder than if dealt with at the time.

Take that baggage then, reflect upon it and learn from it. We have the ability to grow and become a better person by realizing that events cannot be changed but there is always some way to learn and grow from them.

I can honestly say, that some of the best years of my life were those spent clawing my way back from the depths for they have changed my outlook on life and more importantly my outlook of myself.

The door can be kept open then, to reflect on the positive changes that have occured from the past rather than dwelling on the "what if's".

I once heard it said that it's not the baggage but how it is carried.

I sincerely hope that I haven't been too profound for a somewhat new poster to this site...

RE: First Date.......

Well, the "dates" that I have had in the past with girls met on internet sites have been simple and perhaps can be called "first meetings" rather than dates. Money is not the issue. My use of the word "out" is more pragmatic than it is fatalistic as seems to be interpreted.

I'll leave you folks to your clique now, "dude". rolling on the floor laughing laugh rolling on the floor laughing beer

RE: First Date.......

I think, Mychelle, that you are misinterpreting what insan8t is saying about going out for dinner. Respect is not the issue here but rather, the awkwardness that may ensue from having dinner on a first date only to realize soon into the evening that this is not "the one".

I've had a few first dates that started with a simple afternoon coffee and ended - as with insan8t - late in the evening after spending the day walking, talking, cruising antique shops or whatever came up.

I have to agree with insan8t (no one else seems too...) that a coffee meeting allows an "out" if things are not progressing as planned for by either party.

Such are the humble thoughts of this newbie to this site (but not to other sites or forums)

RE: What's the wildest ride you've ever had?

In a Huey (miltary helicopter), strapped in and looking out over the Ottawa River as the pilot banks steeply with the barn doors wide open! What a rush yay

RE: Next President of US?

While Colin Powell would probably be a good president the sad truth is that he would also be a very likely target for assasination being the first black president.
