Everytime someone tried to set me up with a guy just made me ask - what did I do to this person that they would even consider remotely that I would be interested in a guy like that?
Know a girl that is married (and they have a kid) with a guy in a wheelchair. They simply always were a great couple very much into each other.
When I look around me, a lot of people in their 40's or 50's already have fairly severely health issues - they are not disabled as such, but have limitations in what they can do or not. You have to find someone you can do the things you want to do and that are important to you (do you want someone to be able to run a marathon with you?) and if that is the case and a person simply hits it off with someone that has some sort of limitations, why not?
My best friend is male and I have a couple of male friends I made years ago. I do find it harder as I get older to actually built up a genuine friendship with a guy as friendship is not on a lot of guys mind these days.
If someone is visibly attached, it is just a friendly chat and anything more is out of the question (at least for me) - so maybe this is why married women might find it easier to chat to you than someone single who maybe isn't looking for more than just a friendly chat?
Schief is perfectly fine Innocentia. It's good to have company if you're not feeling well (the 2 legged ones are more into running away), hoping both of you will feel better soon. Miss our dog at home.
I answered the post in relation to what I found important in your opening post as in cruelty to people and animals.
I don't see blocking someone on a dating website as cruel. You have complained about the behaviour of guys on here several times (not criticising you there!) and even though some people on here are ok, a lot aren't. I wouldn't let it get to me if someone blocked me on here and I didn't waste any sleep when blocking someone as I always had a reason to block, and getting satisfaction out of it wasn't one of them.
Everyone sees so much cruelty and misery every day in the media and I think most people ignore it or shove it aside if it doesn't affect them.
Some people don't even have any compassion if something doesn't affect them directly.
Not sure what blocking someone has to do with it, anyone not showing any decent behaviour did get blocked by me. I have incoming mail blocked for a long time now.
I had a stressful job and it took a long time to get a better one and get out of there. Unfortunately there is no one else other than me to pay bills, so I stuck it out and it was well worth it.
If you don't like your job, start applying to get another job and change when you have one.
Thanks for thAT M, problem is then I'll have a frame that will break if someone steps on it again, or my brother takes off his head if the door is moved down (and a filler put in on top). Door not great altogether and I knew it would needed to be replaced at some stage.
Standard doors are cheaper, will check how much it would be if someone widens the opening a bit - and if it's possible. Not in a hurry but would be good to get it done before the winter.
Thanks for the link, will have a look at different options.
Hiya M, size is 191 x 80 cm for the door itself. Opening measured from the outside: 201 x 90.5 cm, on the inside 195 x 88 cm.
Got quotes of 800 Euro for the door (1200 Euro incl. installation) or more for a triple glazed door with aluminium threshold.
Someone on Done Deal offers doors between 50 to 600 Euros and gave an estimate of 250 Euro for someone locally installing them. Nothing around the size I'm looking for unfortunately.
As for the looks, 1350 Euro gets me a modern door with a single long glass panel and long handles, B&Q do these awful pvc doors with a round top and red flowers in the glass for around 400 Euro (standard size). I know I can't pick a look if I go for one of the wrongly measured doors (but I am willing to paint it if it's hideous).
Budget - hard to say, paid 700 Euro for a triple glazed patio door that is not a standard size either. Didn't plan to have to replace the back door already (which is the mainly used door as everyone parks in the yard), but it has a plastic frame (like a window) that is wrecked at the bottom and if it's raining and windy, I needed wellies coming in some nights.
PICTURE THREAD - another try...
