Cant sleep, simply puting my thoughts in writing. A part of me want the world to know about the wonderful man who needs a litle help from others tonight. He belive so much in the strength of praying, it got him through many a difficult time in life.

Please say a ...

His degree...

He was the cutest funniset student I have even know and the most diligent. He never gave up, not once did he look away from his goal. I remeber one day watching him head to the bus, waddling trying his best to walk straight, thinking to myself what in gods name is he using as a bag for his books. Then I realised it was a bag that teenageers normally use when to go to collage for the first time, normally you would expect to see an adult with a dignified black briefacse or something similiarlaugh Not this manlaugh He puts me in mind of that charector Roger Dangerfield who goes back to collage as an OAPlaugh

He blossomed and grew into the man he should have been, He took every opportunity to learn as much as he could. He questioned and probed the lecturers to the extent they ended up listening to him. That must have been a wondrful feeling for him, afterall, as he would tell you, he is a humble man from humble beginings. He was perplexed by the interest they showed in him, he didnt realise that his natural intelligence left others in awe of him.

He received a standing ovation from his peers and Tutors when he achieved his goal. They and his family, recognised in him, what he failed to see for many years. When he walked with his degree in his hand, we didnt see his wee waddle anymore, we saw a man with his held held high.

laugh He didnt settle with the degree..he went on to complete his Masters at the age of 65.

Today he helps those who struggle in life and shows them that there is light, laughter enjoyment to be had even in the most difficult times. He became a renowned Psychologist with people coming far and wide to talk to him and ask his opinion.

Not bad for a kid who makes Angela Ashes look like a fairy tale.

Hey Blue eyes, when you you wake there is a hug waiting for you

He lived life to the fullest but at times struggled. His mother was a cruel woman, twisted with bitterness about her life. She saw her cousins living the life only she could dream off.
She saw their children grow thrive while hers died one by one. She didnt see the child she had in her life, adn he paid a heavy price for this.
He spent most of his life caring for a woman, who twarted him at every opputurnity, she seemed to resent his lving and the others dying. She was an incredibly cruel woman who pointed his failings out to him on a daily basis even telling the man that she hated him.

He never gave up on her though.....

Due to his responsibilites at home, he never had the oppurtunity of education and all that it brings. He didnt have the chance, at that time, to drag himself out of poverty, yet he held his head with pride.

He later met a woman who brought laughter and light to his life, they married after a whirlwind romance and fathered 5 children. These children grew up in a harsh envirment yet were loved to the fullest. Sadly, he past haunted him quietly and he drank to chase the demons away till it came to a time when all he did was drink. Even through it all, his kindness always shone through.

He lost his family who he held so close to him and realised that his family were paying a price for his demons.

When he came to life again, he went back to school and made amends with his children and to this day his wife of 45 years gets breakfast in bed every day.

When he went back to school he fulfilled a dream of having his leaving Cert, mind you he was 60yrs at this stagelaugh He did it with no difficulties at all, then decided that that wasnt enough anymore, that he wasnt settling again for what life was throwing at him. He created a new dream..he now wanted a degree

My son one day in it weird little way, asked this man to tell him a story about the famine. He didnt say a word for a while, I then realised he was crying..thinking to myself Oh jesus what has my we man done to casue this, only to realised that he was crying from holding in the laughterlaugh My wee man taught he lived during the faminelaugh Instead of telling dude be quiet he told him storied that had been passe dto him by his grandmother of her expereinces of the Famine. He showed my son the locations in her story and the impact it had on future generations.

He passed on such knowledge and understanding, he also passed on compassion for those who failed others in those times. You see the thing is, his grandparents were as story not to be lost through time.
A story of bridging the divide that still stands today, a story of love, strength in times of adversity.

His grandfather came from a very weathly protestant family, even by today standards, his grandmother came from an impoverished catholic family. They met while she was looking for food, her father had died, her mother dieing. They eventuall married and as a result, he was banished from his family. They ended up living in horrendous poverty that sdid not twart their marriage. In time they had 11 chilren, who all survived to adulthood, which at that time was a miracle in itslsef. His granfather fought with the British in WW1 and came home with only one arm and leg, sods law they were on the opposing sideslaugh Yet this still did not deter him from bringing laughter and happiness to this man, you are praying for, life.

He told us a story of this man, who brought so much joy and happiness to him, this feeling stayed with him through some very difficult time.

One of those difficult times came at the age of 8 when his own brother, aged 2 died. As a result of the poverty, his mother did not have the money to bury her child. His father was in hospital with breathing difficulties and his mother had 4 more at home to care for, he was the eldest so it was up to him to take of his brothers buriel. He carried his brother for 4 miles to the nearest graveyard, dug the grave and buried him blessingit with water from the church. 60 years later he finally got to put a head stone of this grave.
He did this again for 3 more of of his siblings. He only told this story as a result of prodding by my wee man, who he adores, the rest of us knew there were many a story behnd this man, yet we couldnt get past the barriers who erected in order to continue living.

Please say a ...

The chap you are praying for is a fantastic man who has beaten the odds many many times.
Let me tell you a little something about him so that you can get some of the essence of him.....

He is a man who rarely talks about his life, we know he has had a difficult time, yet he sees it as expereinces that have created who he is today. He never gave up and looked to the future.
He grew up as a child in crippling poverty, born 1 of 16 children,in which only 2 survived into adulthood. The cruelty he expereinced, in our eyes, he turned to positives and ensured that the never committed the same to another.

Its rare for him to talk about his expereinces, yet one day we were chatting about the recession when he told us a stiry that woudl take tears from a stone. He recalled a time,as children do, when he got up to some high jinks, when he hurt himself in the river. AS a result the doctor had tobe called, no A & E then.

His mother beat him from one end of the street to the other, because of 2 things, the money needed to pay the Doc and the fact that she has to go to her neighbours and ask for sheets to put on the bed. She had nothing but her pride to hold her head high it seems.

The Doc finally arrived blind drunk and stitched, this lad of 10yr, feet up with fishing gut. No pain relief..nothing. We sat slacked jawed listening to this story as we were aware of the problems he had with his feet over a lifetime, little did we know why.

Please say a ...

Your kindness is overwhelming ...and now the tears are finally flowing. Jesus... folks one minute I am giving you a bit of a hard time then you reach a hand out to me...you sure are restoring faith in people within me tonight.

Please say a ...

Please say a little prayer for someone I know. It does not matter what religion you are, even if you believe or not, he does. He needs the goodness we all have inside to help him through the night.....

God bless

It saddened me when I read this thread. Maybe it struck close to home, as I have a son with Autism, left me wondering will it be lije this for him when its his time to look for a mate. Will he be judged and found lacking just because he is differentdunno Who are we to judge another, for we are all lackingin some way in today's society. Would it not be better to guide each other and provide positive feedback instead of attackingdunno

People make me sad, they truly do, in how they treat one another, for life is tough enough for some without others loading their issues on top of itsigh

RE: gone

Hope you are well?

I cant understand why folks got so riled up about him confused It was clear from the onset that there is somewhat " a litle want" there. If folks done want communication there is always the "block" feature in their mail.

Or maybe its simply having a little bit of drama in the tedium of daily lifedunno

RE: gone

Totally agree.

Hoddy was completely obnoxious to some people on here.. without any provocation or reason.

Everyone has the right to defend themself.[/quote]

We all have a right of defend ourselves, some folks need other to defend them, others do a bloody good job of by themselves. I am not advocating what he has done. I have previous expereince of the lad before. What has amazed me is the extent some have taken it so personally how he comes across on here.

RE: gone

You right regardingt "does not give him the right to take it out on people he never had contact with or does not even know you are wntitled to your opionion but as said no one has the right to come in and attack people verbaly by mail or open fourm2, yet do you think this systematic, derogotory threads have to persist regarding this chap.
Yet, if you look at how he communicates, its obvious that there is a wee problem there. The critter became defensive when he failed to communicate properly, or to the standards of many here sadly, and now we have this thread as a result. Reading this thread saddens me when I see such wonderful people, who are primarly looking for some one to enhance their lives, cyber bully another because of their personality traits. We all have them in some form or another.dunno
Are folks so unhappy, in order for them to feel better about themselves, they brow beat another?

RE: gone

Are some of you feeling proud of yourselves after reading this thread? My , My ….we are an arrogant lot in here that we cannot accept that an individual different from the “norm”. Having come across our friend before I had the sense to hold my tongue and not let their method of communicating bother me. I advised others to do the same, yet here we have a thread that applauds, and from the outside, encourages the “Alpha” pack attack to keep the “Species” pure.

My understanding of groups is the diversity it brings. With this diversity comes knowledge. Knowledge of how we interact with each other, in how to respond to those who have different personality traits. This thread, and the few more like it surrounding this fellow is a poor portrait of our society today.

sigh

Mon Dec 11, 2006 3:46 AM GMT : My..............
Thoughts tonight..

As you can tell be the late hour of this posting I cannot sleep.
When I lay my head on my pillow tonight I had many thoughts swirling around. One remained constant as a result of spending the weekend with my siblings.
While some of you were meeting people on a date possibly for the first time, some were at the ice skating, others at home alone, I was an observer of love .
I watched my parents, brother and sisters with their spouses, each having a special moment. Even though we were a family together, each couple were encased in a bubble that only they could be in.
My brother-in-law caressed my sisters hair unknowingly, it was a simple natural thing for him to do, when he became aware of her watching him, he smiled just for her as he lay his hand on his child’s head who was sitting on the floor at their feet.
While this was happening, my brother had 2 of his children on his knee, with his wife tucked into his side with her hand over his.
My other sister sat hand in hand with her husband watching the children as they played, possibly wondering when will they have a child to hold and love.
My parents were sitting close by watching over their family like two very proud matriarchs with their little fingers entwined.

Whilst this was going on around me, I glanced towards the window and noticed a woman sitting alone. It took a moment to realise that I was looking at me.

I returned that night to an empty house wondering if I will experience those moments for myself. Will I have those moments when my hand is being held or caressed? Will I be tucked into someone’s side?

Only time will tell

We met up 5 days later....moved in two weeks ago
