It's been in the makings for years. All that's left is to clean up the details and implement their supreme control. It doesn't matter who's at the helm. Bush, Blair, Harper, Howard, they're not in control anyway. They're just the face men for the one's making the decisions behind closed doors.
Highfidelity, keep posting, there are some that do read them.
What really bothers me about the automatic gratuity is a lot of the places that do charge it take a percentage off the top. Then the rest is devided between the server, kitchen staff, busboy, etc. This is common practice in fine dining establishments. The upside is the staff usually do get a higher wage than normal for the industry. I don't agree with automatic gratuities and certainly not with management getting a cut. Please do remember that a lot of the serving staff you encounter don't get a decent wage and that they are relying on those tips to make their actual living. Regardless if the service is poor or the server has a poopy attitude I generally tip anyway. The amount will vary accordingly. Everyone has a bad day once in a while and they still have to eat just the same.
Vancouver won't have snow. We may not have any on the praries but there will be some in the mountains for sure. Autumn starts in September here in Alberta. We can get snow that stays then or possibly not until even as late as Christmas. That would be unusual but I have been out for a spin on the bike on Christmas day. Kinda chilly! Last year we got snow in October and the last of it just melted a week and a half ago. A good reason to escape to Aus for a few months!
Vavcouver is only a 15 hour drive for me. Nice scenic tour through the mountains. Could do it in 9 on a bike but we'll have snow on the ground by then. They rarely get snow in Vancouver. Smart son you have! Picked a nice place to live.
