Bad battery connections, as in dirty or corroded, same for the other end of the cable. Could also be a dead spot on the commutator/armature, a brush worn out, or possibly the solenoid. or with a lot of the newer vehicles it could be as simple as a fuse or fusible link, loads of them, as well as relays.
Unless he actually knows what he's looking at, all the good/bad advice in the world isn't going to help him.
I think he should rub her little tail pipe and see if that gets her motor running.
I've left, come back, left, and, well, you get the idea. I agree, it's mostly chat and a way to make friends, and occasionally more, although it is rare, but if you leave, that takes away that chance.
