RE: Plans for Easter long weekend?

Have a very Happy Easter NewLife08. So far I'm chilling out. Everybody is flat out with chocca block diaries. I'll catch up on sleeping in and may even attend some church services, just to break my own rules, and also just for the experience.I am trying to work out "How boring some of these services could be?"---they certainly were in the past. Now if one attended an Orthodox church service----you could be in church for quite a few hours--most of the time, standing up I believe. My bad back would give way if I attended one of these ah!ah!ah!

RE: does God answer prayers?

I agree with you Dadude62, no one including the top scientist know the answer to any questions. They are only theories, some of them are being re-examined especially the big bang theory. However, being an Athiest they are more plausible than religious beliefs and some scriptures. As for prophets, they have written the scriptures, not God Himself.No-one has come back to tell us about life in the next world---if there is one!!! We are told by prophets that scriptures are God inspired. It seems that every prophet has created their own religion---hence why we have so many. We must remember also that the New Testament was written 50years/even after 2 centuries later after Jesus died. Also many New Testament writings were not included in the New Testament by the early Christians. All I understand about scriptures from all the prophets, is that they are a guidance of how we can behave, and communicate with each other in our daily lives. This could bring peace, to some extent, in our lives. Yet, religious intolerance still exits today in most countries on Earth.

RE: is there EVER a good enough reason for a man to hit a women????

I agree with you about violence Maddog69. I think that there is too much violence world wide. This is very unfortunate. Do we live in a violent world???

RE: Is our reality a holographic illusion?

Can you explain this passage in your own words in simple language. Please no copy and paste.I would be greatful if you could do that for me.

RE: Is our reality a holographic illusion?

Please explain what you really mean in simple language. Please no copy and paste from text books or encyclopedias.

RE: Why Me?

I agree with you Jeesh, scamming is so awful, that now I ask far too many questions when anyone is interested and emphasize communicating only on this site. If anyone answers, then there are more questions that I make up. Most who are interested are from overseas. How would one get to know one from overseas? Quite difficult I think?

RE: What do women think of while looking in the mirror?......

Mirror Mirror on the wall who has the wrinkliest face of all???

RE: HAS ANYONE FOUND LOVE ON HERE?

WOW HalvO!!!!you certainly have been successful. That is rare!!!! How does get off the emailing and into the 2nd. stage????? Please give me some ideas.

RE: HAS ANYONE FOUND LOVE ON HERE?

So,so true Glatlol, As Ive said in many threads that people on CS prefer to post their opinions about topcis than meet. I am new to this site and I find it fun.

RE: HAS ANYONE FOUND LOVE ON HERE?

I agree with you marinivan, it's the blogs, forums that attracts most people----not actually dating. On other sites it is just dating and most of them are very expensive.

RE: was jesus a real person?

Sorry folks, what the hell was I writing, must have been depre.......
I don't even believe in it----since I am an athiest.

RE: HAS ANYONE FOUND LOVE ON HERE?

tomcatwarne, I agree with you. CS people are very, very slow. Could be that they prefer, to be safe in their homes emailing their opinions, than actually meeting someone. However one learns a lot about someone through emailing.

RE: HAS ANYONE FOUND LOVE ON HERE?

So,so true,asha69, we all are. However, sometimes one gets the cold feet. It may be that we are not really ready yet.

RE: What's For Dinner?

I am afraid that I cannot be bothered cooking well unless someone is coming for dinner. Then it is meat/chicken and 3 vegies. Takes little effort and tastes nice. Everybody is happy. For myself I eat loads of veg and basically cook same dish every night. It only takes 20min.max.
Thanks for responding. I am finding no---one is challenging me.

RE: If you wrote a song about your life?

RE: What do women think of while looking in the mirror?......

When I look at the mirror I see myself in reality---here and now. How else can we see how we look.

RE: Is everything that occurs predetermined?

Genetic predisposition plus the sum of all our experience equals to what our character is as of today. As a person is born with set genetic predispositions then this implies that he could only ever interact with his environment in one way, the way that occurs.

So, if internal motivators(genes)are preset at birth and external motivators(which shape our internal motivators - what we call experience)are by definition beyond our control, as much control as the plant has over the rain, then this means that free will doesn't exist, that we have to be predetermined.

Which isn't to say that free will isn't "real", only that it is a myth.. just consider how faith in god and religion has shaped the face of Human history and how real this is to us... but god isn't a
fact.[/quote

We do have free will. It is not a myth. We all have choices in our lives. The choices we make, will most likely, determine how we live.(I exempt poor countries and countries governed by tyrants). The environment is NOT beyond our control. Please do not compare humans to plants and animals. Humans are the most intelligent organisms on this planet. We are in control of our environment and we have shaped our world over many centuries. Now with our computers and vast technology we will change the world rapidly. In the future we may even live on Mars through our rapid space programs. Mankind will be leaders in space. All these changes have occurred because of our free will.

If you believe in the bible, God has given us reign over all earth and the heavens(space).

RE: THANK GOD

So very true jem1964,Each to their own beliefs. All of them are right.History has shown us that some dissensions/wars, have started from religious intolerance. We are still facing this problem now/hence the special task force that many goverments have set up.

RE: THANK GOD

I enjoy encouraging people to do their best.hug hug hug

RE: THANK GOD

AA, We would live in a different world if everybody did that!!!!!handshake handshake handshake peace peace peace

RE: What would you do if the world is to end tomorrow?

Yes, mrpebbs, you made an interesting point. But if we have a moment left, saying my prayers may help me experience a less painful death. This is my own belief. What do you believe?

RE: Is everything that occurs predetermined?

It is fabulous that we determine our own lives. Sometimes we have luck and sometimes we don't. We learn from our mistakes, from books, people, etc.etc.We control our own destiny. We can change our minds at the snap of our fingers. But we do not know when we are going to get sick, nor when our time is up. When we get sick we can deal with it. But we will never never never know when our time is up.

RE: THANK GOD

I enjoy reading your reply in many threads EratoTheMuse. Are you a writer? If not are you considering that career? You are so gifted?

RE: does God answer prayers?

I wonder when prayers are answered, if it is due to our great efforts, on our part, to make that something happen. We often go to great lengths to achieve or get the something we want or need. Then we say "my prayers are answered".

If we put no effort into our lives, then prayers are not answered.

So are prayers answered by God, or is it us who answer them?????

RE: Living

It's what I always believed in--- "strong will power" will pull one through hard times.
