Honestly GH

When was the last time you got laid?? yawn

RE: Iraqi "defector" admits lying about having weapons of mass destruction.

Thanks Paldi wave

I must admit I do not like the terms, and now understand why it seemed so blurred...

I can guess on own hand, who invented the terms cool

Hint: It wasn`t the "third" world

RE: Iraqi "defector" admits lying about having weapons of mass destruction.

Hi Conrad wave

Speaking of 3. world countries, I have always wondered which countries are classified 2. and 1. world countries??

Do they exist?

(I am serious)

RE: A new world. Get ready.

rolling on the floor laughing hug grin

RE: gitmo and torture

Hi Gini.

I`m fine - just pop in now and then hug

RE: gitmo and torture

I have bad news for those defending torture and US neoimperialistic politics...

You get so annoyed that people actually raise their voices and points out the crimes being committed. Not only foreign voices but uhoh also US citizens (traitors??)

But these voices are becoming more and more loud and clear, as more and more atrocities unveil.

"But thats not your (nonamericans) business!" is an often used defence scream.

Again I have to disappoint you, since the US policies have a huge influence on everydaylife all over this planet.

Claiming to be the "peace" negotiators with one hand and torturing and dropping bombs with the other - how on earth is this supposed to gain respect.

Other countries Government backup to the "Terrorist" policies leaves a lot of citizens ashamed and stuck in the growing hate in this world.

Not one good thing has come out of this - instead 100.000s of lost lives - bombed land - mentally and physically handicapped people and uncertainty and mistrust.

You state that you are at war??
Now who attacked you?? A war normally needs an agressor to throw the first stone.

So... Iraq sent some missiles against US? No?
Oh. There was this guy Saddam. He was really bad. Funnily supported from CIA on purpose, until the right moment came along.
With the modern intelligence equipment, I am sure a LOT of lives had been spared, if he was the pinpointed target. Instead of wiping half of Iraq off the map - and create this puppet government. A huge price for the Iraqis to get rid of CIAs Saddam.

So.. Afghanistan sent some missiles against US? No?
9/11 came up - a horrible tragedy as well.
And now al qaeda is the enemy. Are you sure you know what al qaeda is?? Try to research The Safari club!! Thats were it all started - go further to the Balkan war and bingo! Why does names like CIA and Bush pop up all the time?? Worth investigating, but maybe too hard a task?

So.. Iran is the next warlord to attack US? Yes? No?
No.. Not as long as the sanctions benefits the 10 american companies who are actually allowed to do "business" there and are the only to do so. Quite convenient. And a brilliant excuse for having military bases in almost all surrounding ME countries.

A lot of people are getting aware of what is going on.
Guantanamo is one of the worms floating out of the can - what about CIA flights with prisoners exposed to torture - I am ashamed to find out that my country allowed this to happen (Greenland).

How about cooperation with the "nice" guy from Uzbekistan?
You know the guy, that actually boils people?

All of this has an impact on normal peoples daily lives. People do not want to live in fear, surveillance and hatred.

From my point of view this behaviour only creates more terrorism and loss of lives - that is the natural cause when "democracy" is being dictated in such a horrendous way.Nobody gets the message, people only see the hippocrisy! But probably these "terrorist" acts are needed to keep the fire burning.

Now.. I didn`t even mention oil - Israel or Corporations...

The day you realize what you actually are supporting, that`ll be the day when the world gets a lot better.

Look at Egypt. See how democracy has to find its own way - it can NEVER be forced. But of course as I understand it, it probably was never meant to...wine

RE: Bush cancels travel plans.

Oh and by the way Gardenhackle - sometimes it is easier to see how things work, when you are not in the middle of it!!wave

That is why you are so astonished about the world view of american politics, and why more and more voices speaks against it.

Must be hard to cope with comfort

RE: Bush cancels travel plans.

I wonder why more and more wonderful americans are opening their eyes and speaking out about the atrocities committed from their Government during the last decade??

But of course - you probably haven`t noticed have you?wink

RE: Bush cancels travel plans.

Yep - and the "Attack ministery" is called "The ministery of Defence" wow

RE: Bush cancels travel plans.

I`m sure that count for the innocent human beings killed in Iraq and Afghanistan as well?roll eyes

UN sources suggest Amr Moussa as Mubarak successor

Former Egyptian FM set to end term as Arab League secretary-general; has brushed off questions about presidential ambitions.

NEW YORK – A new alternative to embattled Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is waiting in the wings, say United Nations sources.

The possible replacement is Amr Moussa, secretary-general of the Arab League. The 74-year old lawyer and diplomat has headed the organization for the past decade.

ElBaradei: 'Mubarak must resign to prevent bloodshed'

Previously, Moussa was Egyptian foreign minister and before that a veteran diplomat for Cairo. Moussa is best known for his work as Egyptian ambassador to the UN in supporting president George H.W. Bush’s efforts in removing Saddam Hussein from Kuwait.

Unlike former International Atomic Energy Agency chief Mohamed ElBaradei, Moussa has much better name recognition inside Egypt and enjoys a much better relationship with Mubarak.

Ironically, several months ago, local reports in Cairo stated that Moussa had spoken with Mubarak about a potential presidential candidacy in Egypt’s upcoming elections in September. The talks were considered “exploratory.”

Moussa has been relatively silent since the recent unrest began. At the recently concluded World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Moussa told attendees, “Arabs are angry and frustrated and the name of the game is reform.”

Earlier this month, Moussa brushed off questions about any presidential ambitions, telling reporters, “It is the right of every citizen that has the capacity and efficacy to aspire to any political office that would allow him to contribute to the service of his nation.”

On Monday, Moussa again skirted questions about Egypt’s unrest, simply declaring that Egypt must undergo “a peaceful transition from one era to another.”

Regarding his own future, Moussa would only say, “I am not willing to stand again as secretary-general of the Arab League.”

His current term expires in two months.

Moussa was first elected to head the organization in July 2001. At the time, Egyptian media speculated that Mubarak endorsed Moussa’s move to the Arab League to “eliminate” a possible presidential rival.

Now, UN sources say, Moussa may prove to be the only practical alternative should Mubarak decide to resign.

RE: Most promisses of Obama are kept WHEN and IF possible! Support him keeping all of his promisses!

And Amr Moussa has also turned up

RE: Most promisses of Obama are kept WHEN and IF possible! Support him keeping all of his promisses!

They are the only opposition at the moment along with ElBaradei (whom I don`t know if he is tied very close to MB?)

He can`t ignore them since that would be support to Mubarak.

But we don`t know what they are talking about dunno

Obama would commit presidential suicide if he backs MB up 100% - there would be easier ways if that was what he wanted...

RE: Most promisses of Obama are kept WHEN and IF possible! Support him keeping all of his promisses!

Please read my post again tt - not skim wave

RE: Most promisses of Obama are kept WHEN and IF possible! Support him keeping all of his promisses!

Dreams CAN be pretty heavy stuff Conrad - and some of them DO come true wave

RE: Most promisses of Obama are kept WHEN and IF possible! Support him keeping all of his promisses!

No - because today Iran plays the perfect role for US (and a certain other not mentioned here country) in excuses for a lot of mess in ME. Only the Iranian people are hostages in that game :(

And yes - Khamenei is clapping his hands at the moment hoping for MB to take over Egypt.

I really do not hope that will happen - all I say is that it would be fantastic if a true democratic government would appear. I know the chances are slim - but it is not impossible and would be a heavy breakthrough for the whole ME!
Remember nobody believed in airplanes before they flew.

And on the other hand there is reason to wonder why the MB are so strong and supported in many countries? Not difficult to figure out looking at recent history....

With so much at stake - Obama does the right thing not interfering too rude in the situation. If he just dictated - all the rage could in minutes be turned against US and another country not mentioned. But it will be impossible to ignore MB. Unfortunately...

RE: Most promisses of Obama are kept WHEN and IF possible! Support him keeping all of his promisses!

Honestly I think Ahmadinejad is a result of US/British failed politics/tricks... You reap what you sow - and Obama doesn`t want to make the same mistake!

RE: Most promisses of Obama are kept WHEN and IF possible! Support him keeping all of his promisses!

I`d call your perception pretty exaggerated ttom - why should Obama want a new Iran??

What if true democracy left a role for MB in the (new) government - a government consistent of different parties..
It happens you know wave

RE: Most promisses of Obama are kept WHEN and IF possible! Support him keeping all of his promisses!

Haven`t seen that on the news yet ttom confused

And why should US dictate what should happen in Egypt confused

Perhaps it is time to stop supporting dictators and let democracy develop among the people head banger New times you know grin

Obama thinks before he acts - don`t even want to imagine how things had turned out if GWB was still in office uh oh

RE: President Obama is changing a whole world to better! Support him!

Hi ttom

You are on the right track here. It seems the education level of US is on a downward spiral, most unfortunate in these times when the level almost explodes in other parts of the world.

Too much money wasted on the expanding militarys budgets for unwanted and tragic actions far from the States during the last decade.

Those money had been much more beneficial invested in education of the future generations. But pertaps intended, since it is always much easier to manipulate people without the ability of critical thinking!!

Health and education will always be the most valuable ressources for a population - things which seem to have been ignored for a long time, and now with fatal consequences.

Perhaps there is still time to change the path, though it seems those goals are heavily under attack. Not being able to face the threat of competition which is building up in the horizon.

Those are the things being fighted for in many contries of the world. And they should be a right for any person on this planet.

RE: Palestinian Statehood at Last

I would also like to mention (again) that Israel still doesn`t have a constitution.. Which in their case becomes very appropriate in the light of their politics.

Discrimination against minorities is easy since there is no protection within the law. Their rights doesn`t exist.

But for Israels government to set up a constitution would be a hard balance of compromises. And compromises are just not their strongest abilities..

There has been made a proposed constitution from the Israeli Democracy Institute which is being formed of compromises, but it is so far rejected.

Because of the lack of a constitution - freedom of speech will also be limited. No laws protects the right for different views - and here I speak of journalist and politicians who doesn`t support the far right core in the government.
So the critism is effectively silenced, except for those living abroad. (Which gives remindings of the status of Iran!)

Why is it not possible to come up with a constitution for Israel??
Simply because the Zionists doesn`t want to compromise.

Here`s an extract from jcpa.org:

Beyond the Basic Laws, other legislation has constitutional implications and is so treated. Thus the Knesset has constitutionalized the definition of who is a Jew for immigration and registration purposes through the Law of Return. Its resolution of that issue is periodically called into question and has been given stronger constitutional status through court interpretation and through the reluctance of the Knesset itself to change what it has done even when pressed hard to do so.

Similarly, the evolving relationship between Israel and the Jewish people has been constitutionalized through a covenant negotiated with the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency, and enacted as legislation by the Knesset (see Table 1). That covenant, concluded between the Government of Israel and the World Zionist Execu-tive in its role at that time as the directorate of the Jewish Agency, allocated functions between the two bodies and made it clear that the Agency was not a state institution but a national one (that is, one that belongs to the whole Jewish people). This covenant was supplemented by a joint declaration in 1960 which specified that "the State of Israel sees itself as the creation of the Jewish People in total, and expects efforts from the ZWF's (Zionist World Federation) side to reach the unity of the nation for the State...."10 Subsequent agreements have transferred other functions to the state and have altered the structure of the Agency to make it more representative of the Jewish people as a whole, but the basic constitutional framework remains the foundation of the federal pattern which Israel and its diaspora partners are fostering as a means of unifying world Jewry.
