Interesting blog. Apparently Romania had an honest social welfare state that benefited many Romanians after WW 2? By 1990 though poverty soared and now it has fallen a great deal. 70 % in Subsistence farming and others unemployed in roadless rural areas are a ticket to disaster. I still think Putin would love to get Roomania back but I bet it would bring much more suffering to Romania.
Romania has had dreadful hardship long before the EU existed. I think Putin is behind the riots and wants to put Romania under his Soviet boot again and secretly enrich himself with what little money they have.
