I hate it when religions discussions turn into a battle. I was just stating my beliefs and backing them up with scripture. That is the best I can do. I haven't been to the otherside to bring back proof. I wish I could.
I could very well be wrong. Perhaps there isn't life after death, or Islam is right, or Buddhism. I have my faith and I'm willing to discuss it. I will listen to others and compare notes. Should I not be given the same courtesy to have my beliefs like anybody else?
I don't hate people from other religions. The bible tells us to love your neighbor as yourself. Sometimes that is hard. Some people are very hard to love. I do try, but at times I fail.
The devil does tempt us to do wrong, but it is our fee will to make the choice. The rain shines upon the just and the unjust. So bad things can happen to Christians, sometimes that is how we learn, but the bible say he will be with us during those times. Bad things can happen when we choose to do wrong. The difference between the Christian God and all the other is that Jesus died for our sins. God has high standards. Do you think Murderers, rapest, etc. should be in Heaven. It wouldn't be much of a Heaven. God seen that we needed help and that is why he sent his son to die on the cross. He took our place, he paid the bill. We just have to accept the gift and turn our lives around. In Christianity, God is reaching down to man. All other religions, man is working their way to God.
But as I said, if I'm wrong and die, I will turn to dust and have nothing to loose.
God does not play favorites among His people, however, the Bible does tell us that God's chosen people are the Jewish race because they were the ONLY ones to obey Him in lieu of other gods.
Deuteronomy 7:6 says, "For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession." This does not mean they are automatically "saved" and will go to Heaven. In order to assurance of eternal life in heaven, one must believe in God's Son, Jesus. Because of God's Promise to redeem the Jews in the end times, Israel will turn to her Messiah and be saved. So, in the meantime, any believers in Jesus are "grafted in" and may partake of the Tree of Life.
God favoried the Jewish people because they followed his commandments. If I was born at the time, I would have been a Gentile, and worshipped many gods.
I wish I could prove that there was life after death. I wish I could bring something back. I have seen miracles and I look around me in nature and see the beauty and complexity. Even Socraties discussed an afterlife via the Design Theory.
Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane (Mark 14:43-52). Jesus endured six trials - three by Jewish leaders and three by the Romans (John 18:12-14, Mark 14:53-65, Mark 15:1a, Mark 15: 1b-5, Luke 23:6-12, Mark 15:6-15) Jesus survived painful beating, whipping, and mocking (Mark 15:16-20) Pilate tried to compromise with the religious leaders by having Jesus beaten, but this act didn't satisfy them. Pilate handed Jesus over to be crucified (Mark 15:6-15) Jesus was mocked by the soldiers as they dressed Him in a purple robe and a crown of thorns (John 19:1-3) Jesus was crucified on Golgatha, which means the Place of the Skull (Mark 15:22) The sky turned dark for three hours (Mark 15:33). Jesus cried, "Father! Into your hands I commit my spirit!" and He died (Luke 23:46).
The Romans did the act, but it was the Jewish people who requested it, but it was more the Pharisees, who were the rulers at the time. They were afrid that the people would start following the teaching of Christ. That was a long time ago and not a reson to hate modern Jews.
I don't believe that it says anywhere that the Arabs are bad or anything. Got even protected Hagar and her son. Both the Jews and the Arabs are related through Abraham. If you want to go far enough back, we are all related. ;) So why can't we all get along?
Interesting, I didn't know that the Arabs and the Jews are waiting for a messiah. The Christians belive that he (Jesus) has come and gone, but will come again to the Earth to set up his kingdom.
I'm not sure what you are trying to say here, but because Abraham and Sarah were so old when they had Issac, the bible, old testament, clearly says that Sarah was worried that she couldn't have any children so she gave Abraham her servant who was Hagar. That was also custom of the time, and Hagar had Ishmael.
Isaac grows to manhood and when he is ready to marry, Abraham and Sarah make contact with their kinspeople in Mesopotamia to avoid a marriage with the local Canaanites. Isaac is quickly linked up with Rebekah, his patrilateral parallel cousin.
I belive it was translated correctly. It matches with the Dead Sea Scrolls that was found between 1946-1956. I do believe that meaning of words have changed.
Ex: Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not for such is the kingdom of heaven.
It the past, suffer meant to let the little children come ....

Where did everyone go?I hate it when religions discussions turn into a battle. I was just stating my beliefs and backing them up with scripture. That is the best I can do. I haven't been to the otherside to bring back proof. I wish I could.
