My brother did something very similar. He was instrumental in setting up a sports college for young children who would ordinarily slip through the cracks, so to speak.
He has since changed his career, but I believe the college is still up and running.
I remember waiting for the bread to be delivered in our letterbox(we were country hicks)....and then chew off all the corners before it got handed to Mum.
Waiting for the bread, I used to lie in the long grass on the roadside and get high on the car fumes as they drove by.
