Well... It depends on the country. In Sweden, for instance, bought food of whatever quality is more expensive, than self cooked. Though my impression is that it's not the case in USA, there you can acquire a lot of junk for a song, while buying ingridients and preparing a proper meal isn't cheap.
Still, it's not an excuse: junk is junk and you are what you eat (and drink).
I quit cold turkey for 1.5 years ago. Saved ca 2300 EUR during this time (conservative estimate, as cigarette price went up a couple of times since that).
If someone wants to quit, but needs support and encouragement, I'd recommend whyquit.com site: great tool for smoking secession.
Latest date I had, almost a year ago, was a dinner at an expensive restaurant, that, it turned out, my date couldn't really afford. The venue was his suggestion, I have no problem with simpler places. He couldn't hide relief, when I said I would pay for myself (always do on the first date). The whole thing left an awkward feeling. We never met again and we don't keep in touch.
I have a paddling pal, last time we paddled 2 weeks ago. Not sure it's a date though.
Don't know about others, but a spark can carry me a long way.
Sometimes I think that I would want to fall in love, a full-pelt involvment for the last time. Doubt though that I still have that much dare left in me: too lazy, too convenient... Too coward?
I stopped to discuss dietal preferences with other people a long while ago. I have mine to mind. There's always something someone doesn't eat of one or another reason. Their choice.
Though a militant all-eater is as annoying as a militant vegetarian.
