RE: what do you want to be??

actually, yes I have.
But the most important reason for me to teach children is hoping they will find the way to the chessclubs and become member. In the 80's chessclubs were booming in the Netherlands, my club even had to send away new members for we had no more capacity. But now that same club has only 4-6 adult members left, it's a wonder they are still excisting. And a lot of clubs are gone forever. I hope, when I am retired I still can go to my chessclub every week and play against other clubs about 8-10 times a year.
That will be possible only if we can get new and young members. Old members, well they always will come but you know how it goes with old people, they get healthproblems and finally they die. It's important to get new and young members.
So actually I'm working at my future.

RE: UK and Japan close in on post-Brexit trade deal Suban Abdulla Yahoo Finance UK6 hours ago

Well, I said so many months before the Brexit was a fact. The UK can have any trade deals they like without an agreement of the European Leaders.
Really, I hope the UK will be the big winner in the end and that the Netherlands will follow. And there are several parties in the Netherlands that want a Nexit, like Geert Wilders and Thierry Baudet.
I guess the next elections coming year are to early, but 4 years later, when the UK is doing great and we are still recovering from covid 19, paying for the dispicable situations in Italy, Spain and Portugal, maybe the eyes of other dutchies will open and they will vote for the right choice.
I really hope so, for I don't believe in the EU BS.

Only sane thing to do is put them in a plane, give them all parachutes and kick them out of the plane somewhere above Afrika.

RE: Hiroshima, seventy five years on.

Yes, pretty sure.
You can send a lot of planes throwing fire bombs, and maybe the Japanese soldiers took down several planes too, but only one plane with only one bomb, that destroyed a whole city, that's something different.

RE: what do you want to be??

well, I have done a lot of lousy jobs in the past, jobs I wouldn't accept anymore.
The work was not my type of work, the salary was hardly better than an unemployedment benefit.
Now I am teaching chess in schools, I should have started that way earlier.
Today got a new client, paying 1200 euro's for 24 hours work. And I have more clients like that.
Working with kids is great and thankful work. And they love me, every week they love to come to the lessons. (maybe because of the drinks and cookies they get) .

RE: Hiroshima, seventy five years on.

During WWII the USA bombed a lot of Japanese cities, but they spared Hiroshima. They had planned to throw the atombomb on that city long before.

deprogramming the mind, just get Parkinson disease...

RE: Hiroshima, seventy five years on.

Guess the explosion in Beirut, was almost equal to the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, except this wan't radioactive.
But the nukes forced Japan to surrender, and I think that was a good thing, for they were very cruel for the people in Indonesia, and also the captived soldiers.

RE: Digging for musical gold.

well, I know a song from the 2nd part of the 70's. 1977 I think, maybe 1978 or 1979.
Never knew who it was or what the title was. But I heard him sing:

(I didn't spoke english then)
I saw a man with the... on
I saw a man with the... on

And later there was a brilliant guitar solo. Was a kinda rocky song. If anybody knows what song it is, please help me out.

RE: What makes men....more masculine ?

What makes men more masculine? Exercising, much exercising and steroids.

RE: Beirut

You know, when the attacks of 9-11 took place we saw muslims dancing in the street in a lot of muslim countries.
In a city where over 2 million people are living and where there's so much damage, maybe it turns out there are more people killed than on 9-11.
But we don't see christians dancing in the street. Maybe the muslims can learn something here...

RE: Beirut

Well, Beirut is out with a big boom.
The stuff was laying their for 6 years. It was confiscated from a ship, and after they put it there nobody ever looked at it anymore.
One thing is for sure, they finally got rid of it.

RE: Daily Chuckle ...

a lady of 102 years goes to the bank, where it's really busy and she waits till it's finally her turn, after 2 hours.
The clerk asks: Well, what can I do for you?
Lady gives her bankcard: I want to withdraw $500 from my account.
Clerk gives the bankcard back: Sorry madam, we have a whole in the wall for any amount under $2000
Lady returns the bankcard: I just want $500, what's your problem.
Clerk: Well there are a lot of people waiting and I have better things to do, old witch.
Lady: Well, in that case I want to close my account.
The clerk takes her bankcard and sees there's $34.000.000 on her account.
Clerk: Sorry, but I see you have $34.000.000, we don't have so much money in the safe.
Lady: Okay, what can you give me?
Clerk: Well, $250.000 must be possible, and they agreed.
The clerk starts counting and 15 minutes later he's done counting.
He hands the $250.000 to the old lady and asks: Is there something else I can do for you?
Lady: Yes, I want to deposit $249.500

In the bank anything is possible...

RE: Politically correct

political correct is someone who votes left.

RE: Rules for time travel

I would, and all the famous books I know, I would try to 'write' them before they were written by the original authors, making me rich and famous. Maybe also 'write' great songs.
Or maybe even learn how things like planes are build and 'invent' them myself.
Guess I will have a great time.
