I can see where you are all coming from that's the problem. I can see the issue nonbelievers have with those of faith and from the other way the way that others have treated those who do profess a belief in a particular religion lol. Believers at times have closed their eyes and heart to anyone questioning anything. That is hilarious in a way. If a believer has faith that he is created in the image of God then God has given him an inquisitive nature. What was it that Jesus did when he was twelve. He went to the temple and asked questions and taught the Pharisees. The church has closed itself off to the very people it has needed to help traditionally. Comes down to again I reiterate just befriending people. I have met Christians who just shine. They didn't have to say a word but the love for others was evident in their lives. To nonbelievers they have treated a lot of people of faith as if they lacked any intellect at all. That is unfair there is a lot of wisdom that comes out of people of faith and they are wonderfully caring people to be around. They are the people that will come give you food when you have none visit and bring their goodness around. Maybe a bit of appreciation instead of ripping each other to shreds with factoids is in order. Even quotes can be take out of context lol.
I know you are answering someone else. That's great that you have delved into some of the other thinker's works good for you. Mention's in 1 or 2 Timothy about studying to show yourself approved yippee for you and your beliefs. However without faith in your God it doesn't matter how much the others study. As the Bible says "Without faith it is impossible to please God". In a way you will not "get them" and they will not "get you". Although both opposing camps are sincere.
Life makes us humble whether we are believers or not.
I truly believed there was a creator for most of my life but do not now. I am not sure that I fit into any category. What I do believe and saw as a Christian is that if you want people to follow your faith. Live it. Don't have an agenda of converting someone your goal when you befriend others. Just care about them. Have respect for others beliefs. Those things that they hold to be true deep within them even if it's Agnosticism or Atheism or any other ism. All this crap is subjective, we don't all have it figured out.
Most of the people who are my friends are believers and the ones who actually respect me don't say things like "well you must have never believed in the first place". Hogwash I did believe for a long time. It's when we try to tie all these complex issues of life into neat little packages that can be filed and categorized. This person is this and therefore acts like this. Life doesn't happen that way most of us are a mish mosh of ideas. Look at in Christendom alone how many different sects there are. God bless you in your faith and me in my unbelief lol.
Hi Gilly nice to see you back. Not avoiding question just too dang tired to answer it well lets see a planet with blue sand, and chartreuse clouds. A planet where the ones you love never die or disappear from your life, where my feet don't ache and where kindness rather than survival of the fittest is regarded as strength lol.

I was referring to that fact that in person I can seem rather reserved. You are quite an interesting woman and have got out there and lived whoo hooo. We all connect with certain people and that's cool. Being teachable and realizing that we can learn more and reach out to others out there is a great asset though.
True romance can be in the little things exactly. Keying into the dates personality. Romance is about touching the other person's soul a bit. That can be done in a small gesture, a creative way such as the pictures or in a grand way. It depends on the person you are wooing.
True romance doesn't die out. So let me ask you something when you are dating these women do you both decide where to go? How much time are you investing in talking to them and finding out their interests before going out? Set a lunch date with one of these girls. You set the tone not her by leading her into some romance. Perhaps go against type if you have a type that is and ask someone out you wouldn't normally ask out. Become good friends with a woman first then you can find out what she is like. If she will go hiking, to book stores, sit by the fire at home and seems more interested in being with you than in what you are both doing. Even laundry can be great if you are with the right person. Just some ideas. Don't stop being who you are you can't anyway right use your romantic ways to woo women find some interesting places and activities to do that don't include bars or alcohol.

That's true, but a lot of us don't have land to sustain ourselves with. In the states I have lived (Oregon and Colorado) homelessness is on the rise, including the working poor who are not even able to afford housing. More and more single mothers in this group.. Not trying to be pessimistic but more people are hitting the food banks every year. So I am coming close to praying that we don't go into a depression.

Got three Associates degrees could have had a master. Was going to be a teacher but one of the kidlets tried to commit suicide and that was it for me I was too upset by it. Went to Bible College for two years for obviously religious studies. Was going to be a missionary school teacher in Aftrica lol stayed a waitress for about 17 years. Another Associate in Travel and Business Admin. never did anything with that but worked in clerical for ten years. Now am waiting tables again and planning on going back for a BA maybe in Writing or Sociology haven't got that far yet lol.
You have a point I am upfront with people which isn't hard because I am only after friends period. I tell men because I like having guy friends that I am about 40 lbs overweight and don't expect a babe which is obvious by the pics then there is no shock. It's when people don't and then expectations are built up that it goes awry.
