Daggy I thought that they had been banned, and people werent allowed to have them in Australia.
I agree all dangerous dogs need to be destroyed. Its apparent from recent years and the number of attacks that this particular breed is responsible for, that they HAVE TO BE BANNED. Perhaps whats most distressing is the severity of this breeds attacks.
Its not Okay for animal owners to blame the 'irresponsible' owner and say that their pit bull is fine.. its just seems that isnt the case.
Saddest of all is the undeniable fact that CHILDREN are most at risk of dog attacks. Below is an Australian Fact Sheet (Im not sure of the publication date) showing the most incidences of attacks, interestingly is after 'unknown' our Blue Heelers rate second highest!!!!
and dont put lithium batteries in things that arent meant to have lithium batteries, cause if you do you it burns out the little motors... and then you have to keep going back to the shop.... and replacing the 'thing' ....
I dont think that we have to give up on dating when our kids are young, and I can certainly say that Im finding it more difficult now Short is older
If Dad has the kiddies every other w/end, then you know for certain that you can plan those times for dating, or that 'special' visit. Shorts Dad has never been around, so I have always had to organise babysitting. I have a very supportive Brother in Law, and he and my sister have been wonderful, so that I can go on dates.
My last relationship, we both had kids, so our treat was to plan a w/end away once a month, between times, we'd just be incredibly happy to catch a few hours together each week.
Saying that, as Kizzy said, it was nice to have the odd pop by. I remember him dropping in for pikelets with jam, and a cuppa, or a quick breakfast with us on his way to work. That way Short met him, knew who he was.
As for the month thing.... I guess that you'd have to ask yourself what was your expectation. Did you hope that you would meet the love of your life in a month? Did you hope that you would meet people that you could socialise with? Personally I think that these places are a point from which we can network, meet people and such, go out ... that sort of thing.
Kristia, these things happen, but dont ever think of it as a reflection on you, it was about him.
Im sure that over the 2 years, there were wonderful, magical times that you two shared. Dont focus on the bad split, learn from the warning signs and then let it go. Remember the good things and the lessons about sharing and respect that came from those times.
sometimes, just sometimes, I let Shortie have a peek at one, so that she knows they are real..
I agree the kids really dont need to know... its not that difficult to have a relationship around visitations... as these things are all done on a very regular agreement.
Its difficult to explain, I kept Short out of the dating picture for so long. I certainly dont regret that at all. In my dating life Short has had to go through one breakup where the person had become a fixture in our house. It was very upsetting in so far as Short was attached to the person too, and then doubly upset because I was so upset.
After that, I decided that I'd go back to my rule of no date meets the kid until they are ready play serious... or the kid is to old to care. Having said all that, I think that kids do manage to bounce back much better than we give them credit for.
