I wonder what men would think if a woman admitted to the same number but was looking for a committed relationship now? I see a lot of the guys on here are congratulating Jimbo and saying that 300 is not too excessive a number but how would those guys feel if it was a woman? Are there still double standards in this "enlightened" age?
I was put on some pills that made me feel numb which, to me, was worse than the depression I was in so I asked for a change in my prescription until I found ones that made me feel better without taking away my feelings completely. Those can be different for different people. A friend of mine felt numb on the ones that allow me to feel comfortable, while the ones that work for her made me feel like a zombie. We cannot hand over the responsibility for getting better completely to the doctors. They rely on what we tell them about how we feel to find the right medication for us.
I am definitely in favour of using anti-depressants to treat depression but with the knowledge that they dont work in all cases and other things must also be used to help.
I find I get more right if I fly through them in instinctual mode. Once I stop to 2nd guess myself I end up getting some wrong. However, there are a few I have to make an uneducated guess on. Thats when its just pure dumb luck.
Just finished another book: "What the Dog Saw" by Malcolm Gladwell. This book is made up of a series of articles that Gladwell wrote for the magazine "The New Yorker" based on looking at things from a different perspective. For example: why a dog would react to someone like the dog whisperer? What could be the dogs perspective? It was definitely very interesting, although I did find parts of it tedious.
'Tis said, the pipe and lute that charm our ears Derive their melody from rolling spheres; But Faith, o'erpassing speculation's bound, Can see what sweetens every jangled sound.
We, who are parts of Adam, heard with him The song of angels and of seraphim. Our memory, though dull and sad, retains Some echo still of those unearthly strains.
Oh, music is the meat of all who love, Music uplifts the soul to realms above. The ashes glow, the latent fires increase: We listen and are fed with joy and peace
My friends husband was terrified of flying. He wouldnt go on a plane at all. They couldnt go abroad together because of it and my pal loved her sun holidays but hated going without him. Recently he did some kind of "Fear of Flying" course and has taken a few short flights and for the first time in over 20 years of marriage they are off to the sun together this summer. He is actually looking forward to it.
Another friend of mine gets a prescription for valium when she has to fly.
Personally, I love flying. Its a real rush for me. No drugs involved
There are those ads on tv that say the same thing. It is good to know these things. My friends mothers life was saved when a neighbour immediately recognised the symptoms of stroke when she saw her. She will make almost a complete recovery but she wont be able to work again.
If you meant bad books, then you should post about them as well. Its good to know what books to avoid as well so we dont waste our money on them. Plus, everyone has different taste and might like a book for the very reason that you dislike it.
You could always start a thread: Crap Books that should be avoided like the Plague
Since everyone has different questions, I think its the luck of the draw on the quiz. Some just manage to get questions that suit them. To be honest, if it wasnt multiple choice, I would be up the creek without a paddle. I cant access my memory banks without a hint
I am an old model and my Random Access Memory is wonky
If she is vaccinated then you have no fears around measles breakouts. Its those that are not vaccinated need to worry. I have to say I am very slow to take my kids to get the swine flu vac. I am not convinced it is needed at all.
There are more breakouts because a lot of people dont vaccinate their children against MMR anymore because of the fears around the vaccination. Its a pity because measles is a very dangerous illness. I believe it can also cause sterility.
