I have to have them with lemon juice and sugar like when I was young. My kids usually have them with nutella or honey and I also have maple syrup laid on for tonight.
I guess I would like to not have worried so much about the future. I made a lot of mistakes but things aren't too bad now. I have come to a point where I believe that things are going to work out one way or another and not get too overheated about everything. Not saying that my life is perfect but if we started thinking about every other road we could have gone down instead, we would drive ourselves mad
American Gods was the best book I read last year. I must read more by Neil Gaiman. I read A Handmaidens Tale years ago and it is excellent. I love Atwood. Alias Grace and The Blind Assassin are two other very good ones by her.
Well, when I met him he was signing books in Easons in Cork and there weren't many looking for his autograph so he chatted to about 3 of us die hard fans for half an hour and was definitely very down to earth and friendly. My ex bought his first book when it came out because he had read him in The Irish Times but it was I who got hooked on him. I love Charlie Parker but especially Angel and Louis. If they make his books into movies, I think Joe Pesci should play Angel and Ving Rhames should play Louis. That's who I see when I read their characters.
Well, I have said that I am easily intimidated but I have never found you intimidating, D. I don't find straighforward people intimidating and I don't think you need to change because someone can't handle you as you are
It's great to see someone happy with themselves, Mac
Physically, I would like to lose weight and am working on that. Emotionally, I am working on being less easy to intimidate and having more confidence in myself.
I think I would like to be happy with myself as I am now though and damn the begrudgers
Reading The Hare with Amber Eyes by Edmund de Waal but only just started it so hard to know what it's going to be like. It got very good reviews though.
Read The Room by Emma O'Donoghue recently in just one night. It was unputdownable. Really excellent read. Also read The Killing Place by Tess Gerritsen which was excellent and read the last book in the Stieg Larrson trilogy, The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest.
In between times I read The Highly Sensitive Person by Elaine Aron and The Help by Kathryn Stockett. All good books.
Well done C for dealing with her. I have some friends who are very fussy about their food but they are always polite about it. Rudeness is a definite No-No!!
I can't say I have had any really bad dates either. One or two boring ones but nothing I could say was very bad.
My daffs popped up over the weekend too. The sun is shining so I am washing my net curtains and trying to spruce up this dump. Time for spring cleaning (Where's the hard at work icon?)
It's not easy to give a nice welcome to someone who comes in all guns blazing, pet. All the same, Welcome to CS and I hope we don't live up to your expectations.
As for growing vegetables as per the OP, I have a drawer full of seed packets that have grown old and weary waiting for me to plant them. I love the sound of SDBs cherry tomato plant though.
I spent time working in Boston and London in the 80s but I think I would prefer to be poor here than well off anywhere else. With 3 teenagers now, I wouldn't think of leaving anyway. Problem is, they might have to go when they leave school. I don't mind them leaving but hate the thought of them never being able to come back if things don't pick up.
RE: age
No one understands the pain we feelStanding in our singular state
Sparing all the world the fact we think
That sometimes, that is just our fate
