Hi Nanners, glad you are ok.We used to have this problem in the New Forest.Sometimes huge stags would leap across the road. There are also New Forest ponies and cattle who actually had more rights than the motorist at one time!
Nowadays the forest is fenced off along the roads and with the new bypass there are less accidents.
Hi D.F. I tried hypnosis to stop smoking 15 years ago.It worked for 9 months ,then after a stressful day I bought a packet of 10 and started back on the dreaded weed.I then decided to have another session this time a bit stronger i.e deeper hypnosis. Again after a stressful day about a year later I started again.
I continued to smoke until January 26th 2000 when I saw someone in my home make a face re my cigarette smoke.I stubbed it out and have never smoked since.
I do feel that the hypnosis works,BUT you have to want to give up for the effect to happen.I was obviously not ready in myself to quit, but something must have triggered off in my brain and I just quit cold turkey.
I did try the patches but they just made me feel ill.
I lost my best friend with lung and brain cancer at 50.My Father died of lung cancer though had stopped smoking years before, and my ex husband died last year at 67 with lung and brain cancer.
I just get a tad angry when Footballers are put on pedestals for scoring the winning goal,or Golfers for the Green Jacket etc. etc. They get paid disgustingly high salaries for this service to sport, unlike the average Serviceman who risks his life for us daily and gets very little recognition.
I have been thinking of late about the unsung heroes in our midst and how we tend so easily to forget them in comparison to the celebrity's who we raised up on pedestals and worship in life and in death. A classic example is Tiger Woods who is getting an airing on the Forums, also the Pop stars, dead and alive. What greatness have they achieved except to earn millions playing a sport they enjoy, or entertaining us.
Much as I enjoy a good voice or a great athlete ,do we not pay them too much attention ,and forget the unsung heroes that are going about their lives risking life and limb,on the battlefields, firefighters, etc.
A classic example is one Captain Ed Woods of the U.S. Army who in the Vietnamese war rescued 29 men at great risk to himself and suffered injuries also.It took 36 years before he was recognised as a "hero" waiting until 2001 before getting a medal.
They walk amongst us now these "unsung heroes".Let's lift them up where they belong.Name someone you think has earned the right to be called a hero and celebrate their achievement.
Hey Audrey Hepburn! oops sorry Dodge. As I mentioned on here some time ago I had a dream that I lost one of the diamonds from a two stone ring.Thought no more of it but 6 months later the dream came true. A costly dream which I should have heeded as the ring was not insured.
Sorry am I missing something here? What have prunes got to do with revenge? There are more ways than one to skin a cat and prunes were definately not on my "revenge" agenda!
Morning DF [ Well it is in my neck of the woods] Congratulations on your thread.
What a pleasure to read people's positive thoughts for a change and well done you for staying with it all the way.I hate it when someone posts an interesting thread then disappears...............
