I think you should give the guy a chance. Perhaps he has seen the error of his ways...or just plain changed his mind. I personally think it would be petty to hold what he wrote as his preferences, before he knew you, against him or the chance that he could be good for you, and vice versa.
At fifteen, no way on the tongue piercing. Not for good grades, mowing the lawn, washing my car, nope, sorry. My 17 year old wants a tattoo to match mine....has since he was 15. I've considered getting it done for him now...but I still can't bring myself to let him do it. Matter of personal conviction, I guess.
If you want to donate to charity, you should do so... but supporting a server that is not earning that tip is akin to throwing your money out the window.
Good Service equals good tip...I don't give a damn what their wage is....if you want a good tip...Hustle for it....give me good service...and I'll give you a fat tip....give me poor service and I'll write..."plant your corn early, it's gonna be a warm spring" on the receipt....there's your tip.
Biggest measure is if my, or anyone at my table, drink runs dry....I'll start the deduction there...or if I want something and I have to wait and wait for the waitstaff to show up......
