The Kite Runner tells the story of Amir, a well-to-do Pashtun boy from the Wazir Akbar Khan district of Kabul, who is haunted by the guilt of betraying his childhood friend Hassan, the son of his father's Hazara servant. The story is set against a backdrop of tumultuous events, from the fall of the monarchy in Afghanistan through the Soviet invasion, the mass exodus of refugees to Pakistan and the United States, and the Taliban regime.
I've read all of the Vampire Chronicles, the Mayfair Witches, all of King 's books, including the Dark Tower series. The Dark Tower series is an amazing piece of work, with an ending that I would have never ever thought about. I've been blowing through Tom Clancy books now, and I love the Rainbow Six, as well as the Jack Ryan novels.

With the worst premonition, he opened the envelope and read the letter with
trembling hands:
Dear Dad , It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to
elope with my new girlfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with you and Mom .
I've been finding real passion with Joan and she is so nice. I knew you would not
approve of her because of all her piercing, tattoos, her tight motorcycle clothes
and because she is so much older than I am, but it's not only the passion, Dad ,
she's pregnant.
Joan says that we are going to be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods and
has a stack of firewood, enough for the whole winter. We share a dream of having
