I make mine 1/2 and 1/2 with milk - it's a very spanish way. SO I heat the milk too - the actual water content of the coffee part is only 40 - 120 ml (1.5-4 fl oz). Many just have their espresso black or a lungo, with a little cream. By heating the milk - I get it hot enopugh. But, i HAVE on ocassion felt the coffee component isn't hot enough. You need to look for the pressure of the machine - the 'bar'. the higher pressure will help with the heat too.
I have a Dolce Gusto machine - it takes individual, sealed capsules. No mess. They are divine - just like the bar coffees we get in Spain, and they do a range of flavours and strengths.
That's a well written eloquent post. However, I DO disagree with your last line.
For some of us, taking those first steps, EVEN ONLINE, can be difficult. Written/verbal communication is only about 7% of the whole. Body language, expression and intonation all play greater parts. Because of this, one has to phrase an email so very carefully, as it it simplicity itself to have it misunderstood.
I don't 'play the game'. Nor am I 'out to score', so when I meet someone of value, the last thing I wish to do is lose them through my own laziness in writing or by their misreading of a comment.
Because of this, I may not even contact someone, and so lose out that way.
All I know is that for me, at least, those first tentative steps, finding out if my feelings/confusions/interests are in fact reciprocated, are very difficult for me. Whether she be two block down the road, or the other side of a very big ocean.
