I think the problem was where you Digi, was going through all the old welcome threads and welcoming people...that is fine, however, when those people hadn't been back for over 3 or 4 months, it is rather futile.
By all means welcome people as they arrive and post, but I see no sense in going back to threads over 3 or 4 months old to welcome them...especially when they themselves haven't been back since they posted.
tinypixie: It is a measurement of what is supposedly intelligent.......brainwashed intellect..
So therefore you have said it! However, are you now saying that intelligence CANNOT be measured?
However, I do agree with you in that we are in a constant learning mode, I never said that we weren't.
Intelligence is an umbrella term describing a property of the mind including related abilities, such as the capacities for abstract thought, understanding, communication, reasoning, learning, learning from past experiences, planning, and problem solving.
No idea what you are really saying either, my response was to the OP who says that intelligence cannot be measured...the IQ test is a measurement and therefore it is measured.
You even agreed it IS a measurement! So, I rest my case.
It has NOTHING to do with being a true intellect or not as the case may well be.
I have no idea to be honest, I don't know if they have ever taken one..and dare I say that not many members of the 'developed' countries have ever taken an IQ test...but they have been tested in some form or another.
My comment was not of the IQ or the testing of humans, merely to point out to the OP that intelligence CAN be and IS measured contrary to what he stated...hence the Intelligence Quotient which is, and cannot be contradicted and is also accepted, IS a measurement of intelligence of some form.
If you haven't had schooling, then is it hard to be able to 'read'. Even where people have never attended 'school' but have been 'schooled'.
Let's take the Native American. No formal schools persay, but learned to 'read' (signs of buffalo movement, animal tracking etc) by the 'schooling' of their Elders.
Ergo, your measurement of observance has been increased, it can be measured in, say the number of different animal tracks that can be determined. Even ONE is a measurement.
It's fine to have your own definition..and you quote memory and the way you mention it, that is also a level of measurement in the number of things that your memory can bring to the fore.

Just my opinion here.
