Be very carefull bragging about having more skill in your second(or its it third?) language than I do in my first. I may decide you are too smart for me.
That, coupled with your cheeky humor, and beauty,
may force me to start chasing you all over Canada.
A) Their experiences are so unlike your own that you have no frame of reference in wich to understand them.
B) They are so insecure in themselves that they see no likelyhood that anyone will accept them for who they really are, and the rest of us have no desire to go out of our way to make them feel worse about themselves.
Little suprises just go with the territory of meeting people this way. I expect people to be as honest as they are comfortable with, which can vary greatly between different women.
That said...
I am very open about my flaws when arranging a date, not because I feel I owe it to the other person, but because I have no desire to date someone who isn't really interested.
