Hiya Berry Ah well, no harm in trying to keep a positive spin on things in the forums but unfortunately it didn't quite work out. It's the people like yourself that keeps me here.
Ah, to each their own and who are we to judge what people do or don't do with their time. Once upon a time, I spent far too much time in the forums but not so much anymore.
Hiya Kattte I'm not sure the article paragraph was intended to imply that folks doing kind things for others needs to be publicised but I do think the world would benefit from hearing about the positives that goes on in the world. It could become a contagion if it did but it seems that more money is made selling drama and fear sadly.
Hiya Lookin lub Yep, those songs have a way of touching a soft spot and a few tears are shed but they serve as reminders that we really don't have it so bad. Thank goodness for the kind peeps in the world because without them, we'd be kinda lost.
Post #5....the lyrics seem to suggest that someone expects to be rewarded for their kindness but true kindness comes from the heart without expectations. Most people tend to expect reciprocation for kind acts and it does feel good when that happens but if it isn't reciprocated, at least we go away knowing that we've done the right thing and that feels pretty darn good too.
"There are a myriad of things the world could benefit from having more of. Kindness is one of them. When you are a kind person, you're not only helping others, you are helping yourself, too. There's substantial scientific evidence that being kind makes you -- and others around you -- happy.
In a study conducted by Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky, psychology professor at University of California, Riverside, students were assigned to do five random acts of kindness per week for a period of six weeks. At the end of the study, the students' levels of happiness had increased by 41.66 percent. Being kind had a profoundly positive effect on happiness."
"Human kindness has never weakened the stamina or softened the fiber of a free people. A nation does not have to be cruel to be tough." ~ Franklin D. Roosevelt
"Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see." ~ Mark Twain
I was inspired by photos of acts of kindness on MSN and thought it might not be a bad idea to spread a bit of it here in the forums.
People give out free hugs on the Las Ramblas boulevard on Aug. 19, 2017, two days after a van ploughed into a crowd, killing at least 13 and injuring over 100.
Back in my working days, we had a supervisor who was very much a narcissist...boasting about everything he has and how important he is. It wasn't long before all those who worked under him figured him out and boy did we ever embarrass him a lot with pranks. Of course, none of it changed his attitude but his attitude got him fired. Instead of admitting defeat, he lied and said he wasn't fired but took on a CEO position elsewhere which we all knew was bs. Anyway, it's best to be aware of the signs early on but some are quite professional at it.
Hiya Ro Well, you're not alone thinking that because it happens to me too. Sometimes it's the last post with no response or just simply being ignored which does have us feeling somewhat distanced. Maybe it's just a perception thing but there are times when we might wonder if it's worth posting anything at all and that's where I'm at with this these days and perhaps you are too?
