That’s true, but…

If it’s important to me,
If it’s my way of expressing my joy;
If I feel that it’s between me and HIM,
Then what’s the harm? What’s it to you?
I’ll do me, and you should do you.
Yes, I know that it's not HIS birthday;
And the day isn't as important as the event.
HE didn’t say that we should remember HIS birth.
He did say that we should remember HIS death, and resurrection.
That’s true, but isn’t HIS birth and life significant events as well?
Isn’t it true that His birth made the rest of it possible?
Do you think that HE would love me less if I celebrate all of it.
I don’t think so, so I’ll take my chances.
I’ll just share my joys and wishes with those who feel the same.

I’m not ready…yet.

Betwixt and between,
The future – unseen –
I dare not believe it could be.
Should I go, should I stay?
Not sure what to say.
He doesn’t know aught about me.

I do, and I don’t,
I will, but I won’t.
What shall become of me then?
There’s no use denying;
I’d only be lying
If I said I was ready again.

I‘m good on my own.
But to not be alone
Would be my ideal remedy.
A friend who’s just right
Would be a delight.
But my wavering mind foils me.

The GOD within us.

He doesn’t impose, He doesn’t demand,
He only persuades; with a gentle hand
The God within us tries to guide our path.
His presence is silence, His touch is slight;
Forever invisible, whether day or night.
Yet still is able to fashion our heart…
If only we would let Him.

The GOD within us is a gift from above,
Given as a promise by the GOD who is Love.
Such a gift is priceless, and we’ll never know its power
If we don’t acknowledge it's worth.

Do you see ME?

In a photo, on the roadway,
On a bus or car or plane.
Do you see ME? Am I what you think?
Clearly envisioned, even when you blink?
The ME that you see, may not really be
The true representation of who you’d hoped
So don’t be afraid to look deeper.
The search for the ‘truth’ is never just a quick grope
In the dark; it’s hidden behind a few layers.
Let your search be certain, let your eyes look deep.
Not just admire the surface, but also see what’s beneath.
The ME that you see isn’t all that there is…

MY IMPERFECTIONS

Are they many, are they few?
Should I make them known to you?
Would you care, if I did share
The things that make me imperfect;
The flaws I’d prefer to keep secret.

Some are what make me, be me;
That make me think the way I do.
That cause me to do the things I do,
And seem different from someone who
Also has flaws... as I’m sure you do.

Are you willing to accept my imperfections,
Or are they too many for you to care?
I don’t want to hide any longer.
But, regardless of my good intentions,
They may always affect the way I appear.

DON'T chase after love

Don't chase after love, let it come to you;
That's how you'll know if it's really true.

When you're not expecting it to,
Love will arise.
Sometimes slowly (but surely) opening your Eyes;
Causing your Heart to rejoice;
Your Mind to numb from the glow
that seeps from within
And bubbles over.

Don't chase after love.
If not freely given, it lacks real value.
Just be patient; wait on it.
Live your life, be free.
Love will find you, just let it be...

Gone…

Gone are the years of her youth when she
Cared about Justice and Truth;
Sought after Peace and Providence.
Drank from the spring of wellness amongst
Those she loved,
Deeply.

Gone are the tears and the broken hearted-ness
Of a love gone stale, and the
Joy that paled, in comparison
To what it once was
Just because they grew apart,
Eventually.

Gone from this life…
Finally free of the pain and strife
That once weighed her down,
And often carved a frown
Upon her face.
Something a ‘smile’ can now replace,
Permanently.

Chasing after LOVE

Fill your days with love pursuits,
Let them saturate your thoughts.
Learn the languages of love, and share
That part of you that longs for it too.

Whether the chase be led by you or
Whether the chase be led to you,
Love must be pursued.
After you’ve found your love that’s true or
After they’ve found their love, that’s you,
Your life will feel renewed.

Don’t chase love away; you may not get
Another chance to have it in your life.
Learn to cherish those who brought in it,
A lover or a friend, a husband or a wife.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
So chase after love… unrestrained.
Let no one tell you that it can’t be found,
For its very presence makes joy abound.

I’m happiest when…

I’m happiest when…
I realize that you are real;
And though you know the care I feel
But cannot yet plainly reveal,
You still love me.

I’m happiest when…
There are no restraints on time;
All worry has gone from my mind,
And I have that ‘one-of-a-kind’
Experience.

I’m happiest when…
Nothing can dampen my mood;
Make me forget what is good
About what could, or should be
My Life.

I’m happiest when…
My hopes have been fulfilled,
And I feel as though I’ve lived
The day that was granted to me,
With purpose.

I’m happiest when...“all the stars align”. :-)

I HAVE A FRIEND (an original poem from a book of Inspiration that I published in 2016)

“A friend loves at all times.” (Proverbs 17:17)
“…But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” (Proverbs 18:24)

I lost my friend; piece of me died.
I lost a friend; I cried and cried.
But in the end I wondered if
He was a friend at all.

I lost my friend; I’m not sure why.
I lost a friend; it made me cry.
To save the friend ship I did try,
But she won’t even call.

I found a friend; and He found me.
I have a friend, and now I’m free
To have someone who cares for me;
Who answers when I call.

Silly Rhyme

Inside, outside, up-side down,
Which way should I wear my crown?
Turn me over and spin me around;
Leave me dizzy on the ground.

I lost my cat but now she’s found;
It cost 2 pennies and a pound
To get the guy to bring her round.
And now she’s sleeping – safe and sound.

Went for a stroll about the town,
Stopped at a shop and bought a gown.
Earthy colours, yes, green and brown
Adorned it’s surface…joys abound.

At the circus met a clown
Who sat limply, with a frown.
In his hands was tightly wound
A poster pic of Howard the Hound.

He perched himself upon the mound
That Howard the dog would often bound
To show his tricks - the crowds astound.
“But, alas!” He cried, “the pooch did drown”.

Missing you.

I don’t like it… missing you.
Makes me feel weak…missing you.
Can’t think why I should;
You weren’t very good.
Is it really you that I’m missing then?
Or is it that brief part of our past life together
When things were new?
That seems more true.
I’m not really…missing you.
