The Tribute To Jennifer

In a small church on a hill, there are a group of people standing
in silence as they say goodbye to a loved one, who they will all miss.
We will start this tale from the beginning, it was nearing Christmas
And Jennifer and her friends were partying at her house, everything
was going fine, the turkey in the oven and the stockings set for Santa's
Visit, the mother and father went out, so they could all have a good time
As the evening progressed Jimmy, Jennifer's boyfriend, said they needed
Some more drinks, so he wanted Jennifer to come with him to the bottle
Shop, she decided to go with him while the rest of the crowd partied on.
They got in the car and travelled down the road about two kilometres
As they were approaching the traffic lights, a car pulls alongside them
Jimmy was an impulsive type who loved the challenge to a road race,
But they were both unaware what was to happen next, as the intruding
Car pushes through the lights, they both excellerate into the night by
Now they were speeding around 80kph, they are followed by a police car
So they both go faster, the intruder flees to the right while Jimmy tries
To stop but the brakes fail, causing the car to vere off the road crashing
Into a light pole, Jimmy's face is lacerated, but when he looks towards
Jennifer, she is badly hurt, the policeman calls for an ambulance to take
His girlfriend to hospital, he is taken to the police station to make a
Statement and to later see his girlfriend at the hospital, however the
Telephone rings to tell Jimmy that Jennifer had passed away, Jimmy was
Found to have a large blood alcohol reading and was arrested; they
Let Jimmy out to go to Jennifer's funeral, Jimmy felt so guilty about
What he had done, he has lost his wonderful girlfriend over being so
Foolish while driving the car, his Christmas was blackened and he would
Never forgive himself for what he had done, on the day of the funeral
He broke down into tears along with his family and friends as they all
Left the cemetary in the church, very saddened at the loss of Jennifer.
This is her story and the moral to it is to never drink and always
Be responsible when you are driving a car, this is the tribute to Jennifer.

The Riddle

What get's bigger the more you take away from it
This thing has no real substance, but we see plenty
Of these on Earth, they are often essential to everyone
But in reality they are a big nothing, so what am I
Really talking about, something that is not living
Or dead, it exists because we make it so, a nothing
To most people and a must to others it is a hole.

The Mountain

The Mountain, it could be the Matterhorn, the Alps
Or any other large mountain around the World
But not all mountains need to be physically climbed
As a mountain can resemble a large personal problem
A stumbling block in the road of life that needs to be
Overcome by a clever solution, yes problems are mountains
They are a way of life for us, our brains can solve the easy
Problems, but there are others which are like mountains
Were you require assistance from friends or family
To solve these situations, man is not perfect and he has
No conception of the mountains that are before him.
A problem large or small can cause grief in some cases
These are the mountains that should be immediately
Climbed, it is our conquest to be the one who conquers
The mountain and become it's master and not it's slave.

The Way Of The Gun (Part 1)

This is the story of how a humble invention terrorised the world.
The Gun, be it friend or foe is an essential part of the modern
World In it's infancy it was used as a means of protection
And hunting for food, but even useful things can develop
Sinister uses in the wrong hands.

In the 17th century hand guns were used to prove a man's honour
When used for duelling purposes, two men would meet at a secret
Rendevous along with their seconds and a referee to carry out a
Fight to the death with these pistols, firing only one shot, they Would stand back to back, walk ten paces forward, turn and then fire At each other the loser would be lying dead on the ground or badly Hurt in some cases, prior to this it was done with swords, later Times duelling became banned.

By this time the military were using guns to fight wars, both
Hand guns and rifles were used to fight the enemy, guns were also Used to rob horse drawn coaches by the likes of Highwaymen, and Bushrangers, by the 18th Century in America the Wild West was using Six guns, hand guns that would fire six bullets, the Sherrif or
Marshall's would create law and order in the towns, and the gun
Was the only law men understood to settle disputes, in a bar a Gunfight would erupt by a drunken cowboy, or at a card game
Someone would be caught cheating, the result was a gunfight
With a derringer a very small single or two shot pistol
Concealed by the user, it all came down to the famous shoot out
On the street, were the Law and lawbreaker would shoot it out,
People would take cover during this event for their own safety.

The Way Of The Gun (Part 2)

History would move on to the 19th Century were in World War 1
Wars were being fought it involved many countries and the gun
Killed a lot of soldiers from both sides. meanwhile in America,
It was in the period of the Roaring 20's, were gangland violence Broke out between rival factions, the Thompson machine gun was Brought into fashion, it had a magazine load bullet cartridge
Fired many bullets in a round, it was a portable version of the Gatling gun used during the wars, but could be aimed very easily, Many wars followed bringing more and powerful guns into operation.
By the 1950s, guns were used for armed robbery and killing of Innocent people by insane people, in the Arab wars guns were worn by Even children and they were often involved in killing people by
Their leaders, guns had come of age as we had the Gulf War and many More into the future, time is now the future and there is all sorts Of bad uses for the gun, no longer humble, but with it's own
Voice of death, the gun is now used by any gun crazed killer who Chooses to buy one, a gun can be bought lik a grocery item on a Supermarket shelf, as gun control is practically non existant.

The law enforcement organisations cannot stem the violent killings Around them, Governments do very little to kerb the use of violence In society, and it is now time to stop this terrible crime once and For all. This all be too little to late as this may eventually lead To the extinction of man on the planet unless there is something
Done by the powers that be to stop it, the gun is now an outlaw
In modern society, and it proved one thing, thay anything good can
Be used for total evil, the gun has come from a useful tool to a
Weapon of deadly destruction, man created it now man must live
With this creation for the rest of his life on Earth.

Rivers Of Time

Life is like a river of time as everything you do
will affect everyone else's life, you need to understand
that no person on this planet has total control of their
destiny, as it could change at any second of the day,
we measure our life in terms of time and events so
just one little change could change the world as we
know it, as soon as you wake from your sleep, there is
change, you only have to look at the weather to realise
that, and each time you make a decision to do something
and you change your mind, it is altering future history, why
even a humble homeless person living on a park bench
could change events happening right now, for example
major historical events could all have a different outcome
if one little thing had been different. When you pick up a
pebble and throw it into a pool, the shockwave will cause
ripples, and life reflects the same scenerio, the ripples could
be called events, as the water has changed, as did the forming
of our planet Earth, when the the cataclysmic event took place
in the birth of our solar system, eventually creating life on Earth.
we have this to be thankful for, as without it we all would
not be here today, the rivers of time is the cause and effect
of mankind, each day in our lives are totally different as the patterns
of clouds in the skies, if we do something bad many people are hurt
but it goes beyond that, the small act of evil, could change how the
world could be, if a person is injured in an accident, by changing his
previous actions prior to the injury, may have prevented his suffering.
there are four different dimensions that are known, three of them we
can move freely through, but the fourth dimension we are all prisoners.
I am refering to time, we can do as we wish in our present, but we can't
change our past or know our future, in actual fact we live in three dimensions
Past, Present and Future, as the Present becomes our past every second we
are here, and we become a part of our future one second later, time is really
relative, as Albert Einstein said, and he is so right, as everything that we do
or don't do can reflect our events, by trying to change history you create a
paradox, were you could make the event better or worse, it is a matter of
conjecture, whether it will or will not benefit man, yes we are controlled by
the river of time and only God knows the true outcome of events.

A Letter To My Love

To the lady who I love who has love in her heart
She is the want of my desire and we shall never part
she is the rose and I am the thorn and our love goes on and on
throughout the world our love will roam until one day it may be gone.

Hearts that beat as one, we are soulmates to the end
The love we have together may sway but never bend
her hair is golden brown and her eyes are are blue as the sky
but pure and simply our love is strong and it will never die.

So what is the name of my love as I am yet to know
as I am writing this letter to a person who'e eyes are cold as snow
her heart's been hurt by someone who was close to her before
is it me who did this to her, and is she really sure.

The answer to this story is for you to understand
as we were lovers from the start and we both walked hand in hand
we are finally together and our lives are happy now
and we will reunite together by exchanging marriage vows.

Black Christmas

Black Christmas, is not a time with little children
Hanging out their stockings or about Santa coming down
The chimney pot and delivering presents nor Rudolph
And the reindeers pulling Santa's sled it goes deeper
Than that to the darker side of Christmas, it is a story
Of the homeless and poverty stricken, the people who have
Nothing to look forward to at Christmas time, no Santa,
A time were young and old people can't take life any more
They tell themselves it is time to move on to another
World and they commit suicide as their only release
Yes this is society today, which was created by Governments
And very rich people who are really serving the Devil,
By being selfish and greedy and turning their backs
On society, they forever increase charges on bills
And utility Services, making people go without electricity
To cook with, foreclosing mortgages on people's houses,
Leaving families homeless and destitute, young woman,
Men and children are living on sidewalks, railway stations
And park benches, with no real place to live. Yes this is
Christmas, Black Christmas we are now experiencing, so no
Matter were you live there is no escape from this sub standard
Way of life for these people. The rich enjoy their life and
Could not care less as the governments grease their palms
For re-election Pledges as they both support each other
For the better life ahead. while they are having a turkey banquet,
Some poor soul is freezing to death that have very little
Clothing or a place to keep warm, yes this is indeed
A Black Christmas.

CHRISTMAS : Santa Versus Jesus

The 25th of December is the day of Christmas
were we all celebrate the coming of Jesus
yet we represent that day with a roly poly little man
called Santa Claus, why do we do this ?
why is Sant Claus sitting in department stores
amusing children and spreading the Christmas spirit to all,
while the birth of Jesus Christ is forgotten as if he
had never been born, the Bible has always been
a respected book and Christmas is a sacred day to all,
yet we give Santa carte blance over Jesus, I feel
there needs to be change as Jesus is the religious reason
that Christmas is being celebrated, while a pretender has
virtually taken his throne, I feel Santa Claus and Christmas
Trees should be replace by Mangers and Jesus, to
commemorate his birth and what he eventually did to save
man from his sins, I am not a religious man but do believe
religion should replace commercial venture and Santa Claus
should be replaced by Jesus, as he is the true King of Christmas.

About this poem:
These are my thoughts on Christmas and the question in some way may even make a good debate, who do we really thing should represent Christmas, Jesus Christ or Santa Claus. This is the first of a brand new poetry collection from me. and I felt as it was nearing Christmas it would be very appropriate to do this poetry for Christmas.
I wrote this on 2nd December 2012.
I hope you enjoy it.

The Automobile Mechanic

The automobile mechanic was originally
a car owner who carried out his own repairs
during the turn of the 19th Century.
These days, it is a person who endeavors to fix
the car problems of the everyday motorist
he is part engineer, detective, and miracle worker
all rolled into one, when the motorist expects their car
virtually fixed at a moment's notice.
He is truly a modern day unsung hero to most
who keep their car in tip top condition
although the mechanic seldom gets
the credit that he or she rightly deserves.

Marriage

When a man and a woman first meet
they go courting together, fall in love
and finally they both decide to get married
they either meet in a church
or in some other special place of their choosing
to have the wedding celebrations.

As is customary, the groom is not supposed to
see the bride until the exchanging of the vows
as the bride walks towards the groom
it is time for the wedding ceremony to begin
they both look at each other in amazement
finding it hard to believe that
it is finally their turn to be married
they now exchange there wedding rings and vows.

The wedding ceremony is now over
as the couple approach the wedding car
which is bound for their wedding reception
there, they give thanks to their families and friends.
It is a now the start of their new life together
as husband and wife they depart on their honeymoon.
It is their decision whether to have children or not
but all of this must be a total commitment
of love and marriage.

Memories Of The Sydney Tram

This fabulous road transport vehicle had it's humble beginnings
in the 1880s, were horses pulled the double-decker trams along
the various streets of Sydney, they moved pretty slow and the
people wanted to move at a much faster pace.
Soon to follow was the steam tram, although a faster alternative
it would cause all sorts of problems, especially the black soot
which came from the smokestack, this would never do.

It was approaching the turn of the century, in the 1900's
along came the cable tram, were the cable ran through a slot in the middle of the lines giving the tram it's available traction, although
a lot faster than the horse and more than a match to a steam tram
in clean street running, it was not until the first of the electric trams came into service, that people were satisfied.

Trams had a marvelous ability to move large numbers of people
from the racetracks and the showgrounds where they had the Royal Easter Show, they were environmentally friendly and the people
loved them, all except the Government and the Oil Companies of the time, they invisioned the future of transportation to be made up of fossil fuel burning cars and buses, yes it would seem there was no
room on the streets for the people's friend, the humble tramcar.

Trams came and went until the 1950's, when plans were made to scrap
Sydney's greatest asset, the trams, when 1960 approached there was
hardly anything left of our great tramway system, and in 1961, Sydneys last two trams made their final run into history, it would appear the Government and Oil Companies had won the battle or so it
seemed until the late 1990's when a move to bring trams back was
acheived and they now run from Central station like their early predecessors, running around Darling Harbor almost like a parody of what they once were, still who knows what role the tram
may have for Sydney's future.

About this poem:
A very interesting narrative-poem that reflects Sydney-Australia's history, the Government in later years regretted their mistake as the Middle East fuel embargo appeared in the early 1970s, forcing cars and buses almost off the roads through lack of available fuel, had they had the trams it would have helped emensely as they ran on electricity, had it happened 12 years early the trams may have survived and buses may have been scrapped, their Melbourne counterparts have always had trams, Sydney's last tram ran to La Perouse and souveneir hunters kept parts of the last tram which came back without lights, yes it happened that way as it is now all a part of history. The poems colours are the same as the Sydney Trams colours.
