Inner Peace

Was just sitting here on this site reading poetry and blogs lost in my own world..

Looked up and outside we have a beautiful big tree and a tattered old swing made out of a plank of wood, this young girl of 17 that kind of just fell into our family one day if sitting on the swing, head phones on listening to music and Just swinging as high as she can, all alone and in her world.

So precious to dream, my heart's so full that she feels free to be a child in this world.

Man has 550 children

HOLLAND:
Jonathan Jacob Meijer, 41 a sperm donor who has fathered 550 children is being taken to court and sued over accusations his frequent donations are increasing the threat of accidental incest.
11:40 AM · Mar 28, 2023

A Dutch non-profit is suing a sperm donator, who has fathered 550 children, for increasing the risk of incest.

The Donorkind Foundation, a Dutch non-profit which reunites donor children with their birth parents, is bringing the suit against 41-year-old Jonathan Jacob Meijer, accusing him of lying about the number of children he has fathered, according to Yahoo News.

The suit asks the court to stop Meijer from donating sperm and destroy all his remaining semen samples, except for those reserved for women who have already had one of his children and want a genetic sibling, reported El Pais English. Dutch guidelines say donors should limit their contributions to a maximum of 25 children, or 12 women inseminated, according to Donorkind.

Donorkind is bringing the suit on behalf of the mother of one of Meijer’s children, identified only as Eva, who birthed the child in 2018. She said “If I had known he had already fathered more than 100 children I would never have chosen him. If I think about the consequences this could have for my child I am sick to my stomach,” Yahoo reports.

Meijer has been blacklisted from Dutch sperm banks since 2017, but still donates to multiple sperm banks worldwide including in places like Denmark and Ukraine, according to Yahoo. Yahoo also reports that Meijer, who now lives in Kenya, solicits prospective parents and sometimes uses the pseudonym ‘Rudd’ when making donations.

Meijer first came to light when Dutch gynecologists’ association NVOG alerted the public to his prolific donation rate in 2017, after it was revealed he had already fathered at least 102 children, according to MSN.

This is knot what I had in mind...

Last night I was watching some exotic wood creations on YouTube that went into some specialized woodworking tools. This morning, YouTube served up some videos about knot tying.
It must be a blue morning as I blogged about a blue dog sculpture and I'm associating the knots with my brother and my dad's old Bluejacket's Manual.

My dad was in the US Navy and came home with lots of cool things from his travels.
After moving to Miami, we opened his duffle bag to find some utensils for camping, hats, scarves and the manual. My brother was a fishing enthusiast and studied the chapter on knot making. It fascinated him. I really wasn't too interested, but learned to tie a few knots for fishing line and remember at a barbecue party tying some short ropes to make a longer one used for securing canvas as a windbreaker.

Let's not waste any time on the knots.

I don't recall what edition it was and it's probably 80 years ago. It wouldn't surprise me if my brother still has that old book!

Do you remember me?

Every year, it's Thanksgiving dinner at my daughter's house and every year, it's a neighbor, relative or friend of a friend who is in town for the weekend who joins us.
This time, a woman with with 2 young sons was a guest and she said "Do you remember me?" I hesitated and said "No, but I was once abducted by Aliens and have occasional memory lapses" she went on to introduce herself and explain.

Now I remember... It's been at least 25 years. They went to high school together and she had been to my house many times. Was her hair style different? Perhaps it was the 35 pounds along the way she gained that changed her appearance.

Coming to you LIVE from Dayton, Ohio...

Greeted by freezing temperatures and 1/2 inch of snow, it was good to see my brother, nieces, nephews and their kids. Flurries, not enough to stick today, the sun came out for an hour this afternoon. Food, shopping, more food and more shopping. Two concerts lined up and indoor soccer with the kids tomorrow.
I bought a 5G laptop so I can keep up with work correspondence and personal email. Hopefully, I'll finish drawings and making a parts list for the next project going into production. Yes, I'm on vacation...

Moving away

As a very young child (I was about 5/6 when my mother left my father), we moved around a lot. My mother sometimes worked 2 jobs, but rent and other bills always drained her finances. Wherever she found better-paying work, and or cheaper accommodations, we moved to. I never minded much, as I was quite young and didn’t really understand the problems with it. In fact, I just enjoyed being in some place ‘new’.

Of course, with age brings reason, but even though I understood the process more I still enjoyed the feel of ‘newness’ that comes with a change of address. I plan on moving again soon. At first, I was very distressed about it because I was literally being ‘forced’ to move by my older brother who insisted on selling our house (I am currently waiting on him to buy me out). In a nice way, I’ve realized that even though it was not my choice, it may be the best decision I’ll make.

This house was bought and paid for mostly by my mother, with contributions from myself and older brother (who were co-owners with her), as well as my younger siblings. Over the years, she did two separate renovations, adding on extra rooms to it. She also ensured that her lawn, trees, flowering plants and general yard space looked ‘pristine’. This property was part of her legacy, and her vision was for it to be a haven for her children in time of need.

For a while it was just that for me and my younger sister (I returned to the house about 5 years ago), but since my older brother and his wife moved in and have altered its state as a haven, it’s now time for me to go. Only this time, I won’t just be moving, I’d be ‘moving away’. I’d be leaving something very significant behind, so this move will be ‘bitter-sweet’.

However, I’ve decided that my new home will be dedicated to my mom and dubbed “Joyce’s House, #2”. I plan on using it as the haven that she had intended; for my other siblings, relatives and close friends. And, hopefully, this may be my final move (on earth, at leastgrin).
