I read so many self help books in my life that I read out, probably a better word for that; some were betters than others, some i might have learned a little from. But none of them had "the answers", they might have the authors answers, but if you didn't have the same experiences as the author you could only learn what you were ready to learn. One of my first books i read in my young twenties was the Art of Loving by Eric Fromm. I struggled with that one a bit, but at least some of it appealed to me and made sense. I believe my Holy grail was something i hadn't know in my younger years, Love. Another self help book I recall i read later on but i don't recall the author was "Love Is All that's Real." That was a much easier read for me at that time, and i had a much better understanding of what the author was saying. At one point i was tired of reading them, maybe i realized i wasn't going to get my answers from a book, you learn love by loving...i thought so anyway...still i hope there's a light...a transformation from awareness. I haven't found my grail yet...Just to Love and be Loved in Return.

People tend to pay attention to what they already believe. Then they filter out information that doesn’t fit with their opinions & dismiss it .
Tell them what they want to hear
Most of our problems are just minor obstacles that we’ve mentally overblown .
Focus only on the solutions & the issues will vanish.

A small change that can make a major impact on your life : Stop verbalizing negativity ,
Knowing but acting like you do not is self-care .
Acting dumb to avoid argument is wisdom,

Oprah lost 40 pounds... again. I was in college and recall Oprah coming back from hiatus. The first show of the new season had her wheeling out a toy wagon with a big chunk of blubber on it to represent the weight loss she had in the off season.
That was in the 1970's and considered a really big thing. They didn't talk much about her dietitians and fitness team working her thighs 10 hours a day, forcing her to do what she couldn't do alone.
So here is is some 50 years later and it's become a top story that Oprah lost 40 pounds. Again... and her fans react: ‘I Can’t Get Over How Amazing She Looks’

I can't get over how she blimped and lost, blimped and lost, blimped and lost at least 10 times in those 50 years.
Obviously, she hasn't learned the secret of losing and keeping it off.

Carlos De Oliveira is the property manager at Mar-a-Lago. He's being charged in the documents probe and was indicted last month. It took this long for him to find an attorney and he appeared in court today, pleading not guilty.
Sadly Carlos is in a no-win situation having aided Trump. By doing so, he was charged with four criminal counts, including making false statements, conspiring to obstruct justice, and altering, destroying, mutilating or concealing an object from an official proceeding.

All this for obeying his boss and carrying out his orders.

What choice did he have and did the thought cross his mind what his future would be for doing what he did? Doubtful. I believe he had no clue what this would lead to.

My thoughts... if he goes through the process, it would certainly mean several years of prison time. I haven't checked, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's 5 to 10 years.
Do I think Trump (like the Mafia) would silently support Oliveria's family in exchange for Carlos' silence? Without question. I would go as far as to wager mysteriously a friend-of-a-friend already has that arranged.

There is always the 'What if factor' and what if he's offered a significantly lower sentence, possibly a few months in jail and parole for 10 years for turning on Trump.
My opinion is special counsel Jack Smith already has what he needs... we can only follow the news to see what happens next.

Flip or not... what are the chances, when the dust settles, will he still be working as property manager at Mar-a-Lago?

It's official! I have moved out from my old place into my new room, in a very small apartment. The move took around 40 minutes, all included. That's 40 minutes from pickup to delivery, because we could fit everything in a trailer. My sister's boyfriend helped, and he borrowed his fathers SUV, which meant we could bring everything on the first go, and not do multiple trips.

So now I am unpacking. I am almost finished. All I need to unpack is my clothes, and then I need to find a suitable place for the moving boxes. I am thinking under my bed, since it's tall enough to make them all fit.

I am looking forward to exploring this new city I have moved to. So many places to find, plus I look forward to my mental health being just a little bit better, now that I don't have to walk on eggshells all the time! It's gonna be awesome!

Next up is to schedule a weekly dinner appointment with K. I asked her if she was game for that, which she was. So now we just need to find a day of the week, and when the first dinner appointment (not a dinner date) will be. I am thinking Wednesday, since it's in the middle of the week. It could also be Saturday, which could no doubt involve a movie afterwards.

All I know is this: It's gonna be the BEST. THING. EVER!!!

To digress, women seem to think that their morning life tasks and beauty rituals take much more time than those of their men folk. Au contraire, CS friends.
But Bravo is signaling to go for his walk, so later, alligators.

So, I spend about half an hour on these items, less the time I spend walking Bravo. Of course, showers, clearing snow, watering and weeding garden, all in season, etc, add considerable time, not to mention shopping, hobbies and vehicle/home maintenance.
But I'm happy to do so, as there have been rare times in life, in depressed and therefore slothful periods, when we let it all pile up. These thankfully all came after the 5th decade on God's good earth, and related to unresolved business over youthful traumata, likely from parents, as an infant, and much later from men in our Church. Years of denial and rationalization did wonders to stir up the mix. The bottle was a false ally, as many will know.
Even though I studied these things and worked to help others with their depressions, etc., I always doubted the validity of such syndromes, and especially how they could set the stage for lower life achievement, and even self harm. Silly me.
With help (various therapies, including hypnotic age regression, etc) and the tinctures of time and experience, I'm back in the saddle, and have discarded the false crutches. For good, Inshallah.
But the most striking lessons involve how much such experiences can detract from the full life. I have learned that most, thankfully, adapt, with or without help. But in terms of function and interpersonal interactions, it's often sub optimal, and less than fully adaptive. Even if lives are carried out and even somewhat enjoyed, at different levels.
Behavioral science still only scratches the surface in all of this, I'm here to report.
Medicine and religion, even more so.
