The Essence of Love

The Essence of Love
Lady when you come home
I'm gonna rub your back
No...you didn't even have to ask
You've been working hard all day long
Now it's time for you to relax

I heard it in your voice
That your day was heavy
Now...close your eyes
Shut your mind down
In a few minutes your bath water is ready

You see...it's exciting to keep
A woman happy with simplicity
Because when I love...love deeply
And it's organically grown

Just like my lyrics that don't
Miss from my dome because my mind
Is always on roam in stereo speaking...
With clarity...although you ain't trying to be
In your dreams you're gonna remember me

See the essence of love can be so
Hypnotic, symbolically I drop knowledge
Like graduates who never made it to college
And never got caught up with terms and perms...
Like poppin' collars

The essence of love
Should never be equated
With home many dollars are
Within a man's wallet!

The fact of the matter is this...
You have to appreciate what you've got
Can you all equal-stand what I'm saying
See...I'm a one woman's man
I cook up love so sweet that...
It's never bland
I want to make love near palm trees and golden sands

Angel of death

Oh my god
There's millions of them!

I've seen a fire start in Frisco
The day that the earth quaked
I've seen buildings a-blazing
Throwing up in flames

I heard men, women and children
Crying out to their God for mercy
But their God didn't listen
So they were burned alive

They went down, down, deep underground
In the great disaster

I was hanging out in Berlin
In the year one thousand nine hundred and thirty nine
I've seen Hitler's storm troopers
March right across the Maginot Line

I've seen two world wars
I've seen men send rockets out into space
I foresee a holocaust
An angel of death descending to destroy the human race

Down, down, deep undergound
A great disaster

In the sixteenth century there was a French philosopher
By the name of Nostradamus
Who prophesised that in the late twentieth century
An angel of death shall waste this land

A holocaust the likes of which
This planet had never seen
Now, I ask you
Do you believe this to be true?

I was standing by the bedside
The night that my father died
He was crying out in pain
To his God he said, "Have mercy, mercy!"

His body was riddled with a disease
Unknown to man so he expected no cure
But before he died that night
He was lost, insane

He went down, down, deep underground
A great disaster

You'll go down, down, deep underground
A great disaster

Ode to liberty

The dream was not a vision
Or some premonition like we were told
It was no figment of the imagination
To prove that we could be bought or sold

The doctor of the diamond run
Could be revealed to the intelligent
But this is what i resent
Who cares for the ignorant, the intelligent
The cynics approach was must be
Who cares for anything in this whole wide world
Except me

And this opinion must not confuse the issue
My appearance, my condition, or state of delivery
I am stating the obvious
This is a protest
There must me a collusion
This is no Shakespearean speech
This is a statement
Made by one who can not practice what he preaches

The statue of liberty
Has engraved on it's wall
Give me your poor, give me your needy
Give me them all
We need something like this
For this world to coexist
It would be so easy
To act so pretentious
To act as if it was democracy
To act condescending
When in fact it's the world we're mending
And that's why i can't relax
Cause inside my coat it's a pistol that i pack
We must beware of a surprise nuclear attack
We must be ready to strike back
I'm not pretending
Our defenses, they need mending
We must leave those standing
Forget the third world is ending
Is starving, is crying
Is desolate, it's oh so late

I would dearly love to return
Through a mirror in twenty years
And learn what the future has in store for us
And if i learned that we lost
And there was no hope
For those that think
I would turn to drink
And drink is drugs
And drugs would help me sink
And like of boat, I'd float
I sail out to the sky
To the universe and back
Maybe to give it another try
I don't know why, why jack
Just to go further and farther
Just to learn, just to be nearer

Ten Little Girlfriends

Ten little girlfriends looking so fine,
One obsessed with religious cults,
And then there were nine.
Nine little girlfriends going out so late,
The demons would attack one,
And then there were eight.
Eight little girlfriends searching for heaven,
One never told the truth,
And then there were seven.
Seven little girlfriends so full of tricks,
One wanted everything,
And then there were six.
Six little girlfriends were just so alive,
One sought perfection,
And then there were five.
Five little girlfriends always wanting more,
One desired money,
And then there were four.
Four little girlfriends couldn't agree,
One always argued,
And then there were three.
Three little girlfriends wouldn't pursue,
One couldn't leave the past,
And then there were two.
Two little girlfriends basking in the sun,
One couldn't cope with age,
And then there was one.
One little girlfriend had charm by the ton,
But he couldn't see it,
And then there was none.

About this poem:
I was looking through some of my past attempts at poetry and I found this one. I thought I'd submit it to such an esteemed site. Remind me to write the book someday. My thoughts are when it comes to girlfriends never over complicate the issue. It will do your head in!

FAITH POWER

The strange tie of bond
Love can command a storm
Things can be moved & changed
The brain works behind the chain

The Searching

Life has been taxing, painful and rough
Seems like the hard times are never enough

But through all disparity, I have the dream
That my searching will find me someone I need

I don't need a model, I don't want a saint
I do not wish for more friends to acquaint

There must be someone who can see through my eyes
Feel from my heart, and hear when I cry

Laugh when it's needed, smile when it's great
Craves my desire to keep you safe

Arms wrapped around you, your body, your soul
There's no room for emptiness, I'll keep you full

Days are so wasted when I'm all on my own
Without her the house is not quite a home

Wherever you are, my salvation, my world
I hope that you're out there...my completion, my girl.

The Man Who Never Smiled:..Epilogue

Did you hear that poor old John died? asked the swaggie of his mate
Somewhere up the North they tell me, he was in a sorry state.
It seems he was still searching for that bird he spoke about
And it was on some lonely highway his old ticker just gave out.

Yeah, I heard something about that Bill the other swaggie said
I never thought I'd live to hear the news that John was dead
For a stronger man I've never seen in all my roving days
Determined, grim and resolute, yet kind in all his ways.

Now it's time I hit the road mate, gotta make ten miles today
So I'll see you round the traps some time, good luck.oh by the way
I was passing where they'd buried John, Bill to his mate then said
And I chanced to see his marker, the inscription on it read

"There lies beneath this mound of earth a mate a bird done wrong
The victim of a broken heart was John..from Wollongong".

About this poem:
Epilogue, but this time fiction as I'm still alive and kicking.
For our international friends "swaggie"short for swagman, a person who walked the roads seeking work carrying his meagre belongings tied to a stick and wrapped in a piece of cloth which also doubled as a blanket. His "swag". Similar in many ways to a tramp.

The rupture

My loved
if this's
a day
becomes that a night
And when
What's now
insight, no more a-sight
And
we're no more, no more
as we are'D
I'll be better
and not
o'ever

The Sail Of Color White

T here by the lighthouse embraced by the mist,
H eaving up eastward is the pride of your ship,
E ntagled, the seagrass will tell you the myths of a

S ailer who solely conquers the deep
A reas of your thoughts, daring your navy. The
I les and the rocks to beware: she’s a
L ady.

O f advantage deprived and of a
F ortunate star, she navigates

C rests, exploring your heart
O ver and over without a compass.
L eaving her fate on the lines of your past,
O mitting maps and
R ules too obscure, she happily

W recks in your arms and securely
H eaves the vessel upwards the ninth wave.
I rresistable passion makes her so brave
T hat it is frightened when she turns to your core and
E motively finds her promised shore.
