Weeding In The Garden

I am happy just kneeling here
On this warm bare ground
Scrunched down on my knees
Pulling weeds all around

No one comes to bother me
Nor do they interrupt my task
Not even a busy wandering bee
Looking for directions might ask

Other people leave me alone
A little wave -- a passing smile
Not even a ringing phone
Can be heard for a country mile

I shall stay ’til work is done
Or 'til the dinner bells echo
Waiting for the setting sun
Changes into reds from yellow

I am happy just kneeling here
On this warm bare ground
Scrunched down on my knees
Pulling weeds all around

About this poem:
The lovely task of pulling weeds and just enjoying solitude. Nobody will bother you or try and take your job away. It is blessedly peaceful and mindfulness all wrapped in one.

Fear vs Faith

"Be strong, do not fear!" (Isaiah 35:4);
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind!" (2 Timothy 1:7).

Fear says to us:
You're not going to make it;
You're not good enough.
The road that you're on
Is gonna be tough.
The race that you face
Is not one you'll win,
So don't even try to
Get rid of your sin.

But...
Faith says to us:
Your victory is won;
Jesus died in your place.
The road that you're on
Will be guided by Grace.
The race that you're in
Isn't for you to win;
It's a victory lap that proves
That you've overcome Sin.

My 'tomboy' days

My tomboy days were delightful,
Full of play, and climbing for fruits.
My tomboy days were just blissful,
Free of dresses and girlie pursuits.

Never had to worry much,
Never seen as being butch.
Always played like it'd never end;
Viewed by the boys as "just a friend".

Had the best of both worlds, too;
Had a friend, a girl who
Invited me over to play 'dollies and tea',
And loaned me her 'Raleigh', so I could ride free.

Oh what a time, a wonderful time,
When life was so simple and fun.

BETTER BELLY BUSS, THAN GOOD FOOD WAS’E

(A saying of ole by a wise old sage???)

Don’t throw the remains of good food,
Don’t even store it away.
Not when it tastes so very good;
It won’t last another day.
Even if you’re filled to the brim,
Be sure to make some space.
“Better belly buss, than good food was’e”;

Be careful of what you ask for...

God’s Wisdom is like nothing else that man has ever known and certainly His Brilliance, for us has set the tone.
Great is my angst and wonderment when after prayer
I wait, to see what my dear God decides should truly be my fate.

My God knows how to make a joke, and enjoys every bit
Of humour that He gets when He makes use of His great wit.
I asked for patience and I hoped that all would soon be well,
But lo! The challenges God sent made me feel I’d gone to hell.

Should I not know the tests He gives are how He answers prayer,
Yet how could I learn patience well, if not by trial and error?
I asked the Lord to bless me with more work to earn more pay.
For I had many things to buy, and to pay for everyday;
And once again He sent my way a chore to undertake –
The bounty that He blessed me with was not for my own sake.
For He wanted me to know that when He blesses me with same
It’s for me to share with others, and to glorify His name.

So when you pray and ask the Lord be careful what it’s for;
Don’t think He hasn’t heard your call, if troubles you endure.
And you wonder what He’s doing, when you’re faced with more distress -
Just be careful what you ask for, ‘cause there just might be a test.

About this poem:
God's own Will for us always supersedes what we want for ourselves, so we need to be mindful of that when we ask, and wait, for His response.??

Truth v Lies. (Yankee Challenge)

We see the lies in smoke filled skies
That fall down on Ukrain,
In frightened youth we see the truth,
They're tears are molten pain.

How deep the lies in Soviet eyes,
They know not truth or peace
For power and greed they pay no heed,
To cries of war to cease,

But in that zone they're not alone,
We've seen it all before,
The Nazies and the Serbs still have,
A lot to answer for.

How many more must die in war,
And rot in unmarked mud,
Before the warlords realise,
The cost is paid in blood.

As Shakespeare said from his death bed,
"To thine own self be true,"
You won't be false to any man,
Nor they be false to you."

No Place Like Space

Spaceman,
Laser guns,
Killing off races,
Having fun,-
The Ape-man,
Well, he claimed my cave,
He ate my food,
Then he ate my slaves,-

There's no place,-

Gypsyman,
Told us why?,
And how to live forever,
And touch the sky?,
The Doobieman,
Ha, you all remember him!,
Well, he sells only the best!,
No seeds and stems,-

There's no place,
Like--
There's no - no - no place like space!-

Psychicman,
And the future he saw,
The Planet of the Apes!,
He's seen to far!,
The Musicman,
Tuning his tunes,
Thrash Heavy Metal!,
Changed into blues,-

There is no!
There's no - no - no place like space,
There is no!
No place like space!-

About this poem:
This one I wrote 5-11-1998. Strange how I sort of predicted the future off this. Next to "Neighbors part 1", this is one I may try out on stage coming up soon at a nightclub or a biker rally! Or just sell it to the highest bidder?! lol

INFIDELITY…Tell me lies

Tell me I’m the soulmate that you’ve searched for all your life;
Tell me I’m the woman that you’re proud you made your wife.
Tell me that no one else could ever take my place;
Tell me all these lies, as you look me in the face.

Tell me that she’s “no one” and “nothing happened” too;
Tell me that she’s the one whose chasing after you.
Tell me that you told her that you’d never leave your wife.
Tell me lies that maul my soul and cleave it with a knife.

Tell me, tell me why you came into my life at all.
Tell me how the man I love(d) could have so great a fall.

Tell me lies......

Kill

I remember the easy life,
Pushing rocks uphill,
And how I made it this far?
Living in Hell,-
"Those are the streets where you cannot go"
Mommy told you to stand still,
"That man coming this way and pay heed to what I say"
Kill or be killed--

Into some of the darkest places,
Through cities corrupted by sins,
And why I was made this way?
Built to win,-
"When it's all over and all seems lost"
Mommy said to you wearing a grin,
"That man standing alone out there"
Kill and kill again--

I remember the harder life,
All at free will,
And what made me travel this way?
ha, Just for the thrill,-
"Such destruction he left in his wake"
Mommy pointed out with so much feel,
"His way of bringing peace and love"
Smile when you kill--

Rejected By Girls And Boys

The Devil's in disguise,
That angel by your side,
The sky is turning grey,
Just another day.-
You feel you've lost your way,
On the jagged edge you play,
Soiled and broken toys,
Rejected by girls and boys,-

Now all the world's a fair,
Tangled in your hair,
Only you see the light,
Just another night,-
Voodoo and the Evil Eye,
Hand and hand they ride,
In love with so much joy,
Rejected by girls and boys,-

Then left was you and me,
The day of night set us free,
Getting higher and higher,
Closer to the fire,-
Pray upon your prey,
In all different ways,
Between silence and the noise,
Rejected by girls and boys,---

I wrote this 3-24-1998. This would be a song I'd probably just put into paper for a book of poetry. Sometimes better to be a word man than a bird man! lol
