Meh, cut and paste with no referencing... I think there is interesting detail even within the term "bogan". Such as the Eureka stockade flag (Southern cross) being a favoured tattoo, especially on the neck, and the idol-worship of a murderous bush ranger (Ned Kelly), also a favourite tattoo/car sticker.
There seems to be a lot of crossover these days with "Houso's" (Housing commission tennants), but maybe thats because they tend to be a bit bogan as well.
I have to move a few things around, then take my old refrigerator out and put the new one in. Yay! no more door freezing shut, reduce my power bill too.
And we actually dont call prawns "shrimp"... Most are boiled at sea then snap frozen, then eaten cold (no need for BBQ'ing). I prefer to buy them green and clean them, then fry them in garlic and chilli with some lime juice.
Yes thats kind of the origin of the slang term here, a dog of no particular breed. Also known as a Bitser (bit of everything), or a Turner (turns dog food into dogpoo)...
Cobber was use by the soldiers in the second world war, and now is mostly used in conjunction with the word "struth" (exclamation of surprise) and pretty much only used in Earles court to demonstrate one's Australian-ness. Personally, I have only been addressed "Struth Cobber!" by a drunk being thrown out of a Tel Aviv bar many years ago.
