Yes, if you followed events here, you'd know we let it rip just before Christmas. So, a month or so ago, 50 or 100 cases would be a big deal nation wide. Now 20 000 or 30 000 is the daily result for a single state. Thankfully a low death rate, about one i a thousand. For the unvaxxed, much higher about one in a hundred or something.

My understanding of the origins would be late 1800's maybe early 1900's before electric street lights... To suggest it only appeared in the late 60's after a remake of a 40's film/musical seems highly improbable. Maybe the meaning has changed over time, or the context which it's used in, but basically it's a load of cobblers.
Our immigration policies are very harsh, those in the same hotel as gronk have been rejected but refuse to leave. Some for many years, and facing many more as they will never be resettled here. Both sides of Government are equally nasty about it, it's unfortunate but also the only thing that works.

There is clear policy, but it was kind of ignored. We sent at least one other packing, not too much fuss about her. it's an election year, and a conservative government. I doubt they'll roll over on this. Keeping their gunpowder dry is my guess.

It appears the latter at present, but it seems there is more to play out. Yes, that's political, whoever stands up to him will have no further career in politics. My guess, it will be someone aged about 64 and 3 quarters who takes the fall and payout.

That's very sad news, my thoughts are with those who lost a loved relative. Behind a famous person is a grieving Mother.
