Biden Should Not Debate Trump Unless …
By Thomas L. Friedman
Opinion Columnist
_______________________
True. It's the Opinion of the columnist.
But equally True - The NYT has ultimate Control over what appears on its pages & that includes the Op-Ed Section.
"The Times is committed to publishing a diversity of letters to the editor. We’d like to hear what you think about this or any of our articles. Here are some tips. And here’s our email: letters@nytimes.com."
Nothing to suggest the times either supports or disagrees with the opinion printed.
Again Where does the NYT call for no debates between Trump and Biden?
And if you read the letter printed in the NY Times it suggests the debates should go forward but with conditions.
Just looking over your nonsense, you would be one..
Riz said, Nothing in today's NYT, the article in question was three days ago..
noun NORTH AMERICAN
a newspaper page opposite the editorial page, devoted to personal comment, feature articles, etc.
"an op-ed piece""
As I said, where is the suggestion that the NEW YORK TIMES calls for no debate between Trump and Biden
Copying posts from other blogs is just you trying to divert away from the point I have raised.
An OP-ED is not and never will be a call for anything, it is just an opinion not a suggestion as the OP is implying.
Who was sufficiently mediocre to search the NYT & provide a link to it for one lacking the mediocrity to do so & who suggested our esteemed OP was dreaming??
- Without which the mediocrity-challenged could't even participate in the discussion!
It ain't an isolated incident.
Like the time the Perfesser concluded Chinese don't eat potatoes based on research he'd conducted while picking over left over French fries at an Asian KFC.
Remember That one, Perfesser?
2) Trump has been the worst president in US history ...
1) Evidence suggests Ol' Joe's suffering some form of Dementia & the campaign has taken measures to conceal his condition - Like having Dr. Jill front for him.
2) Without necessarily accepting that is So, it does Not rule out the possibility that Ol' Joe's losing his mind - The two are Not mutually exclusive
I'm of the opinion that should Ol' Joe have just One Dementia Bad Day during a debate with The Don, it'll be Finis Ol' Joe
Many undecided voters would be reluctant to vote for someone they perceive to be suffering from a malady which renders one unqualified for the job of Prez.
(See some compilations of Ol' Joe on Bad Days - Can one Honestly envision him at, say, a G7 Summit Meeting? SERIOUSLY??)
When people See Ol' Joe, they perceive him as not up to the job. ...
@ 4:50 -
"He did better in Primary States in which he did NOT campaign, because the more people see of him the more it's apparent the man's lost his danged mind."
Little wonder, then, that the Leftie NYT would carry an Op-Ed piece suggesting Ol' Joe try Something to avoid debating The Don - Like demanding conditions or no debates
In reality, the subject/blog topic is moot.
Even Team Ol' Joe realized that demanding conditions or no debate would be Seen As a desperate attempt to keep their senile guy off the debate stage.
Like a drowning man grabbing at a razor, one might say.
Team Ol' Joe has agreed to Three debates - The Don wanted Four.
Again -
If Ol' Joe shows up to just ONE of those debates having a Dementia Bad Day, The Don Will be re-elected - quite likely in a Landslide.
IMO
To his credit, he was having a fair to middlin' Good Day.
If That Ol' Joe shows up for Three debates & doesn't fade before the two hours are up, it'll go better'n if the guy in String's vid arrives ...
Beyond that -
None of the eight persons that he's addressing appears, shall we say, Energized & the whole thing was upstaged by chirping birds & rain.
The unveiling was posted by Leftie CNBC and even Then it's gotten more than

Hint to Team Ol' Joe -
If your guy is widely perceived as being not far from sitting on a park bench, clutching a brown bag & muttering, "Krushchev will steal my string" ...
A campaign slogan hinting at Nostalgia might not be the best way to go -
"Build Back Better" ...Kinda like, Let's bring back them Good Ol' Days ...
His campaign's becoming a caricature of itself.
@ "Now look ... " - Take a drink ...
@ "Here's the deal ... " - Chug the rest of the beer & crack a fresh one ...
#HidinBiden no surprise. Anyone planning to vote for him knows they're not really voting for him.
Some I know IRL acknowledge Ol' Joe's losing his mind, but intend to vote for him anyway.
Some justify it by voting for the Party & its platform rather than the man.
One makes No such justification - "I'd vote for Biden if he had a new contagious strain of Alzheimer's & it spread by watching him on TV."
I suspect a few of our esteemed bloggers/commenters think similarly.
A "Vote The Party, Not The Man" guy was Convinced he was all in for Ol' Joe
I conjured the image of Ol' Joe at a G7 Summit ...
I'm pretty much convinced The Don is tolerable for Corporate 'Crats & the thought of his 2nd Term flutters their serenity not in the Least.
That's 'bout the Only reason they'd let Ol' Joe be at the top of their ticket - They don't care a fig if he loses & no young up & comers gets a loss hung on 'em goin' into '24.
As far as Corporate 'Crats are concerned, The Don may be many things but there are a few really important things he's NOT ...
He's NOT Comrade Bernard at the top of their ticket.
He's NOT a Hard Right ideologue (e.g. Cruz) nor a scion of the Bush Crime Family.
It's worth noting that The Don spent much (most?) of his life as a 'Crat, or aligned with 'Crat pols & policies.
Corporate 'Crats may be more comfortable with Him than Far Leftists.
And Certainly Comrade Bernard!!
