chatillion's list of iconic (and quirky) guitars...
No specific order, but I started playing guitar in the 1960's with memories of Chet Atkins playing a Gretch. He had several different models. Big, clunky usually orange with gold plated hardware. Some had a single cutaway and some double. Very iconic!Expensive and only one guitarist in the neighborhood had one!

It's not the weight I was concerned with. It was the angle.
I guess, that you would have to have some of the initial guitars
hang off stage below stage level to play those last 2 guitars.
The question "why" also remains.
In 1969, Emmett Chapman invented a guitar-like instrument with high frets that was designed for tapping instead of strumming like a conventional guitar.
There are several different models and configurations including some that have a guitar and bass guitar merged into one neck. The design allows the musician the ability to play with both hands creating melodies as well as chords at the same time.
Hybrid materials made from wood and composites, the Parker was used by many including Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad. Sadly, the company is now out of business... as it defunct.
