Has Trump made himself ineligible for any elected office?

There is a growing body of legal opinion that between his involvement and non-actiions, in the January 6 attempted coup and his statements about throwing out the US Constitution if elected President again (which is itself a tacit admission he recognizes he was not elected President in 2020) that Trump violated the provisions of Amendment 14, Section 3 of the US Constitution. Although it has been over 199 years since this clause was used to remove an elected Federal official from office or prevent their seeking one, it is still a very real part of the highest law in the United States.

The wording is:
"Section 3 Disqualification from Holding Office

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability."

Several Federal judges and State election officials are maintaining this precludes Donald Trump from ever again being placed on a ballot for office.

How the hell you didn't see him for what he was before voting for him beggars belief, but I guess psychosocial dynamics aren't your strong point. hmmm
LoL, obviously I knew he cheated on his wife. I knew he was more con man than business man and in the Primaries I voted for a different candidate. After that the Liberal candidate was not the strongest, Colonel Dobias' daughter (who I know) had not said anything negative about his school days, and I hadn't heard of the rape accusation. Yes, the Democrats were alleging rascism, but in addition to seeing Trump around NY and NJ a fair number of times, I also knew several people of color who worked for him who only had good things to say about him and viewed him as a fair employer when I knew them. So it was a choice, the murderous Hillary or a non-attorney, shyster. Within a few months my perspective changed as various events unfolded and emerged. I do not support his re-election for anything, not even as a small town dog catcher.
Reference:
Colonel Dobias was the former Commandant of the NY Military Academy both Trump and I graduated from. He had dropped out of that HS during WW2 to enlist in the Army and fight with the Big Red One in Europe. Afterwards discharged from the Army as a decorated Sgt, although older than most students, the school administration permitted him to return and finish earning his HS degree. He then got a job as a Tactical Leader (dormitory commander, kind of like being the dormitory chaperone at a women's college before the 1950s) and pursued his college degree which he earned under the GI Bill. He also got married to a registered nurse. He continued to hold jobs at the Academy and when I knew him he was Major Dobias. His family lived in a house on the school grounds. His daughter was a friend of mine who was seen or spoken to every other day and ultimately married one of my best friends from the school. Half a century later I still have occasional contact with both. As a resident of the academy campus she also had daily interactions with young Donald Trump who had risen to the rank of First Captain of the student body before his graduation a few years before my attendance.

Trump continued to make occasional visits to the school grounds for years to come which is where I first saw him. This was not unusual as the then owners of the school encouraged Alumni visits and donations. Though I know of several senior pranks and hi-jinks in his time (such as hand carrying late at night, sideways, a teacher's car from it's parking space and through the doors and into the lobby of the administration building and leaving it there), some of which he was involved in,I heard no allegations of the kind of conducts we have seen or heard of since 2016.
Well, rather than listening to what ther people said, or didn't say about him, maybe you could have listened to him directly. It was patently obvious with everything that fell out of his mouth (or other orifice) that he was a completely inappropriate candidate for the office.

I'd even go as far to say that you could have muted the sound and just watched his body language to know that he should not be in a position of power.

I respect your knowledge and experience in so many areas, I respect your focus on facts, but politics, including the politics of war, is inherently governed by human psychology.
What I find really sad is the number of good people in political office, who are registered as Republicans who are not seeking the office. Lots of them are over 35 with no blemishes on their political history, but they also have zero interest in seeking the Presidency and are not running. Instead the Republican leadership has become a weird mix of far, far right, delusional beliefs, and ultra religious persons. Nothing middle of the road.

I fully expect the Democrats to make an unprecedented effort to enroll all qualified persons of America's coastal cities this time around and pretty much ignore rural America where the population is low. This will of course give Biden / Harris a landslide victory.

Once again the psychos will claim the election was stolen and ignore that they threw it away by continuing to rally around Trump.
I think perhaps that's one of the many inherent faults of the system: anyone who would make a good president/prime minister doesn't want to be one; anyone who wants to be one is unsuitable by default.

Being the most powerful person over milllions and millions of people attracts the odd balls and narcissists who are necessarily and entirely out of touch with the people they seek to govern.
Back on topic - the Secretary of State has the authority and discretion when it comes to putting names on the presidential ballot, right?

Does each candidate have to apply to be put on the ballot in each state, do they apply in the state where they live, or where they choose to apply? How does this bit of your system work?
Hey Ken if Biden or the US/NATO declare war with Russia within the next year, do you think US elections can be put off until the wars end ?

Apparently election in Ukraine are on hold until wars end, but i guess only if the US is invaded elections would be put on hold..
But you never know we may have to keep an eye on Biden's tactics to stay in the top job...
Not Trump though, he was perfect. Very much in touch actually.
And good to listen. He actually listen to inputs from folk who has something to say.
They must be worth listening to though, ot with their own selfish agenda.
How do I know all this?

The world could not have asked for a better leader than the 45th.
Now it's wasted and we're back to corrupta de la corrupt. But the memory lives on bringing hope for a better future now that we know it's possibel to break the back of the deep corrupt state if "we all pull together like a team" (who sang that?)

You Jac have noooo idea how dc works. None.
You are book smart only, and that you share with this Ken rhino here.
Butcher, do you think the Trump train can get back on track?
Our only hope (just look at how they mistreat Kennedy.jr)
I think it's derailed for now cos there is no wholehearted support
back to back in the R camp. Just look at Ken and Chatillion, bouth claiming to be R's.
I mean with friends like that who needs enemies.
Fixed
What are R's that you say Ken and Chatillion claim to be. That needs some explanation.
Chat...

The fact that some who enjoy the upset caused by Trump and his band of charlatans...are sitting cosy in a country that is seen as non violent and progressive...
Strikes me as odd...or perhaps some are bored with normality...confused

Whatever the case may be...someone has got alot of time on their hands...perusing the internet...fantasizing...
Just read this, it made me laugh.

"Isn't it funny how the FBI can make up evidence and can't get the stumble over real evidence on the Biden corruption?
Yeah, the FBI's lying.
The DOJ is lying.
The courts are lying.
Many Republicans are lying.
Of course, the Democrats are lying. But Trump, who is not even allowed to be involved with charity in New York because his was stealing money from kids with cancer should be believed.

MAGATS are dumb f*ck."

Some social media is hilarious.
Some people should be fixed...laugh

Birth control is a good thing...wine
I read you say you wanna vote Chris Christie, and he is Republican ain't he?
But stricktly speaking don't know exacty where you'd vote. And to me you know it's all the same, if they are against Trump. Ken vote R.
And to add- there is way to much Republicans who is never Trumpers,
and then one simply lose to the other side way to easy. Like when they stole it in 2020
with the support of such disloyalists.
That my point.
Then it wasn't stolen, if Republicans also voted for Biden, as has been proven multiple times, the election was won fair and square by Biden.

Being disloyal does not mean their vote should not be counted.

Thank you for confirming it.
Some judge found pity with a Trump supporter...

thumbs up

Common sense still exists...

So, Democrats don't want Trump in office, liberals don't want Trump in office, antifa don't want Trump in office, nasty feminists don't want Trump in office, BLM don't want Trump in office, the popular vote doesn't want Trump in office, Fauci doesn't want Trump in office, prosecutors don't want Trump in office, judges don't want Trump in office, security services don't want Trump in office, election workers don't want Trump in office and even way too many Republicans don't want Trump in office.

But Trump won, really...?
Have you heard Chris Christie speak?
Sadly he doesn't have the campaign finances or the drive over the other Republicans trying for the party nomination.
He's clear, logical and doesn't try to run a campaign on BS.
I'm registered no party affiliation (NPA) so you won't see me running to the polls.
Chris Christie seems a good reason to vote Republican, but sadly, the far right will get rid of him with the usual lies and mud-flinging.
I can partialy answer my own question in as much as independent presidential candidates typically must petition each state to have their names printed on the general election ballot.

I still don't get the process when a candidate is nominated by a political party.

I'm just wondering how many law suits there will be if the Secretaries of State either accept, or refuse to put Trump on the ballot according to Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.
Not talking about voting mister. Talking about turning a blind eye to voter fraud when asked to. The observers from the Republican side, many of them willing or atleast too weak to protest loud.
It was during covid - so only asking them too lay back... keep teh distnace ..and so thay did.
That's how it happened.
How much push do a Ken or a Chat need to do just that ay'- during the November pressure?
Not a lot, some would even be happy to turn a blind eye. Some would get a few hundered dollars, and some would just get a friendly clap on the shoulder, from the thankful Democrats there.
This is easy to orchistrate cos were talking just a few hundered voting places in the whole nation.
Where it counts.
Some would call the above speculation.
Some would call it disinformation. Some would call it hatespeach (lol)
But trust me, if all Republicans was as loyal to Trump
as most Democrats are to a Hillary or Biden,
then that uphill battle would have been...well.... less uphilly laugh
Conclusion:
the selfish rhinos threw Trump under the bus when the pressure built up.
I blame them for allowing the theft.

Secondly the supreme court that clearly was worried for their own personal safety,
esp the 6 Republican elected ones.
I can understand that worry, but ... this is not how it should be.. is it.
After that it was irrevocable over.

detective
Sure, but your hate for Trump see no limit. Give you that. purple heart
Again you are wrong. I never stated that I hate Trump.

What I like about Christie is he can focus on a topic and speak about it logically. He knows law and he knows government. He doesn't come to the table without experience.
Some might speculate that if Trump hadn't raped, stolen, defrauded, lied and conspired to overturn a constitutional democracy, it would have been less uphilly for him.

And it's only going to get more uphilly as his former colleagues, employees and co-defendents realise that loyalty only goes one way in Trumpworld. Y'know, more flipping than an Olympic gymnastics event in a bid to avoid full culpability for their own criminal actions.

In fact, it's beginning to look a bit North face of the Eiger uphilly for quite a lot of the nice Republican folk. Flipping for many will be the difference between getting down from base camp alive and becoming a frozen monument to failure somewhere inbtween base camp and the peak.
I have no idea Grand, i don't really follow US politics it's far to ridiculous for me..
R's Chat dunno am i missing something here..
It's started:

Colorado lawsuit: 14th Amendment bars Donald Trump from ballot.

A lawsuit filed Wednesday by six Republican and unaffiliated Colorado voters seeks to remove Donald Trump from the presidential ballot, asserting that he is disqualified from public office for giving aid or comfort to insurrectionists on Jan. 6, 2021.

Butcher. I thought Chatillion was a Republican cos he support Chris Christie. Seems I was wrong about that assumption. Just to clearify that one. My bad.
Jac. Personally I think Trump will never again be in office.
I think you can sleep well at night knowing those horrors to humanity
won't come back.
Grabbing left and right has come to an end rolling on the floor laughing
I only watch R F Kennedy or Rand Paul sometimes in US politics, they are the only one's who give a dam about the US people the rest are in it for the money...
Yea, and his father Ron is good too. Kennedy is fab!
I had big hopes of Trey Gowdy and I just loved Jason Chaffetz too.
And that surfer chick from Hawaii, just lovely.

But times are a changing I suppose. Wonder what comes after this.
I'm feeling faint... is it possible we actually agree on something?
Well, I'll not go into the whys and I think it's sad but it is what it is.

Basically we are in the after era now, after Trump that is.
Hope it will not be so bad. I have my worries cos now your side (the "winners")
will set the stage. Don't expect too much freedom. Basically don't expact too much of anything, is my advice.

I can not imagine him back no. And if he do, he will most likely be assassinated so it's better he lose the upcoming 'election'- or is hindered somehow.
You know, when the forces against you is that huge sometimes it's better to let go.

With all that said- we will not forget what a great man he was and what he started: a hope for a change to the existing corrupt establishment that screw you, me and anybody in sight.
Somebdoy else will one day have to try and pick up where he left. And if that ever happens (not sue at all sadly) I hope more than half the nation actually will follow the wind of change. They smeared him cos of the threat to them he represented.
And you and many like you fell for it. A pity, but I think it's just as well to accept defeat now. Freedom lost. Prosperity lost too. Ordinary people lost. The winners are the protected classes. I ain't gonna list them but they have more wealth and power than most. And you let them win. It's over, I do believe that.
Welcome to nothing Chat. Some call it business as usual. But I can promise you 1984 has just started.
